This place rulz, all these yelpers aren't wrong. Nice place to unwind and have a drink, and my god – that fancy assed hot pocket – otherwise known as the braised beef turnover or something, is like my childhood wrapped up in pastry. for FIVE BUCKS! This is not where to go when you want to go crazy, or be part of some scene, but maybe you've grown up a bit and just want a mellow spot to drink good beer and wine (no liquor) and still feel relevant.Everyone there is nice, and one of the bathrooms is palatial. And you are a fool if you don't order the beef turnover.
Attended the soft-opening for Julia's this past weekend and I have to say that they're off to an amazing start! The establishment was packed from wall to wall as locals came out to support this classy wine bar.
It was great to see Crystal and Denise (the ladies from Norma's) and the rest of the staff busy and bustling through the crowd with smiles. They were serving up cheese plates (one sweet, one savory), charcuterie, turnovers, delicious wines and beers.
This establishment has a bar, in addition to a beautifully decorated sitting room. I can't wait to have awesome dates here. Amazing to see the owners bring this idea from dream to reality…and to share it all with the residents of Ridgewood! Here's to Julia's.
Julia's is a Lovely place to stop in for a nice glass of wine or a cold Beer, meet up with friends, sit, chat and stay a while.
Owners are very personable and friendly and the atmosphere is just right.
Menu is constantly evolving with the Turnovers being a mainstay and definitely not one of my favorites. I'm a meat / cheese & fruit kinda lady with my glass of vino so would be nice to see them add these choices back to their menu as a mainstay.
Very Lovely Chill spot and one of my Top Favorites for price-point, comfort factor, ambiance and overall pleasantries and another Ridgewood Classic spot!
"I call it a crookie"
I can't tell if this thing is a cracker or a cookie, but I know I have not been able to stop thinking about it all week. #homemade #local
ALSO
I have thought of their pork turnover all week too – this is wrong… I think I am having a mental love affair with this place…
ALSO
I have not had a wine here I did not love!
Their menu says they have free range chicken turnovers, I asked them if they knew the chickens name and if I could see the chickens profile…we then decided to visit the farm — there were laughs all around #portlandia

Depending on the night or time that you come Julias can be one or all of the following:
Romantic, fun, loud or peaceful, friendly, warm, joyful, etc–! You can come dressed up or casual and you will fit in just fine.
–Service–
Warm, kind, generous, accommodating, friendly, talkative, attentive, intentional.
Things to know:
– If you want to try their awesome food, come early! This is a small, everything homemade business, so they sometimes run out of one or two menu items.
– Beer and Wine only. Solid curation of mostly local and some old world type-o-wines. Also has a good selection of local beer.
-Markers and pencils on the tables are available for doodlers!
*My only suggestion to the business to to add one regular/staple menu item that is all veggies ie: roasted something or other or have a kale salad…you know what I am sayin? Anyways, Julia… I will see you tomorrow probably… Or maybe today? You have brunch on the weekend, right? #Iheartyou
Julia Julia Julia. Julia Goolia. Man, this place is sweet as freshly baked apple pie. I never come out to Ridgewood. Ever. Though, those darned Queens beer books lured me into a place I would never venture to yet again. The place is pretty quaint and cute. Both smaller tables and picnic style tables with glowing soft candles, interesting art work, and paper dining mats spread before you along with cup holders filled with color pencils. Coloring equals therapy. Enormous amounts of very much needed therapy over a huge and pretty interesting menu of both wines, libations and craft beers. After deciding that nothing was particularly gripping us for the food menu since most of everything was small plates, cheese, and sandwiches, we decided to drink more beer. Between Steph and I we were on a dark beer kick as of late and Mary, who was also sweet as apple pie like Julia the restaurant, suggested the Choklat Imperial stout brew from Southern Tier. She also offered it on a discounted price because they were trying to get rid of them. It wasn't just amazingly delicious but highly over-proofed and our coloring session quickly turned into tears of both mirth and sadness and beer. I love Mary and I love Julia. I'd come back if I were ever in the hood since this was a super friendly and cute spot in a neighborhood that is ever so slowly growing and evolving.
I love this place! We popped in for happy hour and light dinner on a weekday night. The beer we wanted to try happened to be the special of the day and was on sale for only $4. I ordered the beef turnover and was really surprised at how filling it was. I also loved that it came with a decently sized side salad of arugula tossed in balsamic vinegarette. It was topped with pumpkin seeds which is my new recipe at home.
Ridgewood is benefitting seriously from new places like Julia's and it's sister cafe, Norma's. Local food and people at its best, nested in a neighborhood that is growing in youger types looking for this type of atmosphere .
Our waitress hinted that they will be expanding their brunch to Saturdays in addition to Sundays very soon. Can't wait to go back!
I came here for dinner tonight. Really wanted to since I've only been here for brunch. I'm totally obsessed with Julia's. I've never had anything here that was sub par. Everything here that I've put in my mouth made me want to scream for more!!
Tonight I had one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The Madame Temple. An interesting concoction of Port, rehydrated cherries, cinnamon and N.Y. sparkling wine. The cinnamon sugar rimmed flute paired extremely well with the wines and the deliciously sweet cherries! The candied pecans are so out of this world amazing and addictive. Sweet and crunchy with a tiny hint of spice from the white pepper. They have such a wide variety of grilled sandwiches. Vegan and vegetarian options galore. The buttery and crunchy sourdough bread is grilled to perfection. I had the Smoked Mushroom Melt. Oyster, Shiitake and cremini mushrooms, red wine tomato jam (yum!!), lemon basil vinaigrette and fresh smoked mozzarella. I didn't want this sandwich to end. Came with a fresh carrot slaw in a cute tiny jar and kettle chips. Such a bargain for ten bucks. Two cocktails, a Vermouth, a lemonade, an appetizer and two entrees was $50. Total bargain in my book. I LOVE Julia's!!!!
