  1. Came today at dinner break with gigging friends, very decent food, but one of my colleagues sent back her soup because it wasn't good and was too creamy. My tuna sandwich was good, plain and simple. They seemed to be out of a lot of things, though basics like clam chowder were all out. Would come back if I am playing in Livingston again.

  2. I simply don't know why I continue to come here, aside from the fact that it's local.
Other than Marion's chopped salad, I can't think of a single draw to this diner outside of any other local joint.
    The service is disinterested.
The decor is dated and poorly upkept.
The establishment simply doesn't feel clean.
    Not a fan.

  3. As far as diners go, this is one of the better ones. Great baked items as well. Their cannolis are better than most Italian bakeries! My wife and I love their Nova Platter. Toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox along with veggies. Delicious! Good coffee too. The last time I was there however the guy at the cash register seemed more interested in talking on his cell phone than running the register. Very unprofessional.

  4. Worst diner ever.  Felt like a scene out of Pulp Fiction.  Nobody's here except for 4 cops in a booth.  Walk in and the waitress turned around in a distressed frenzy as if our party of 3 had just arrived with a busload of patrons.  We waited awkwardly for her to stop tweaking and motion us to sit where we pleased.  Dodging the leaking air-conditioner, we sat in a booth.  The waitress looked out way with distress and then rushed around as if she was working a dozen tables but was in reality just tweaking.  The ponytailed pant sagger came over and was like "yo, did ya'll need some menus?"  Yes.  Seeing that he was going for napkins and silverware, I requested,"May I have 4 table settings, please?" Self deceived with the reassurance that he's actually quite clever, he dismissively groaned,"yeah man, that's what I'm doing" and then proceeded to bring us 3 table settings.  I informed him that we had another person in our party who would be arriving shortly, thus my request for 4 table settings.

Suddenly the waitress appeared but off to the left.  There was no human connection or empathy or response to our genuine smiles, but her nose and face were extremely red.  Her nasal drip became apparent as she snorted it back up.  Either she is the only person in NJ with the flu on the hottest day of the year amidst a humid power outage, or…

Feeling trapped – I wanted to run out of this place.  The others with me ordered western omelettes, BLTs and disco fries.  The gravy came on the side in a curious, Luke warm container usually reserved for ketchup.  It was nauseating to behold.  I watched the kitchen worker drop forks on the floor while jamming to his iTunes and the placing the dropped and contaminated fork on the table he was setting.  The waitress rushed about, neurotically moving ketchup containers as if she were facing off the domestics aisle in Duane Reed.  Everyone agreed that it was the worst food they had ever had.  I beheld the open faced dumpster spilling over in the back parking lot, shuddered with disgust and left in a hurry.

  5. This is a great diner. It has great food and the wait isn't long!! I think you should get chocolate pancakes and hot coco. I hope you have a spectacular time!!!

  6. The ritz is amazing. And any livingston native that says otherwise is lying. It's a diner at its core. A HUGE menu, old style decor, waitresses that sometimes have bad nights, and homestyle good tasting food. Sure, it isnt a five star taste but that's not why you go to the ritz. You go because it's nostalgic, because you probably spent your childhood there and countless high school nights. Or you took your kids, grandkids, after a band concert. Like I said, it's a diner, what do you expect? It's a place to get disco fries and catch up. If you're looking for an at home feel then you can't find any place better than the ritz.

  7. The Ritz was always a reliable spot for food since I was a little kid. Their menu is never ending and has everything and anything you could possibly want. They're known for their apple pie, it's delicious.
Sure, it's not the best food ever, but you have to remember it's a diner. Aside from that everything I've ever had has always been enjoyable. It's a great spot for any meal of the day, it's quick and it's casual.

  8. We were seated very quickly for a Sunday. I had the combo wrap lunch special that came with a bowl of chicken noodle Mazoh ball soup. The other person in my party had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe. The Mazoh ball was excellent! The wrap was good. The veggies inside were sliced paper thin and it was served with a white balsamic dressing that was surprising good

The bun for the bacon cheeseburger was a home made bun and you can tell. It was really good.

I didn't get to try the apple pie, something they are known for from TV, but I will next time I come.

Service was super friendly and got a bigger tip because of it.
