  1. We visited on Mother's Day, which is usually the busiest restaurant day of the year. We were encouraged by how full the cafe was, and by how diverse the clientele was. That, for me, was the highlight of the meal.

Service was slow and disorganized. The food itself came quickly once we placed the order, which was good. I didn't much care for my Irish breakfast, but my boyfriend enjoyed his monte cristo. Based on his meal, he would like to return, and I look forward to trying something different on the menu next time.

All said, I much prefer Eileen's or Dee's–both are walking distance from here with much better food and service.

  2. Nice small diner in the Irish section of Yonkers.  They do Irish breakfast which is delicious as long as you don't ask what the meat is.  The regular breakfast is really good.  I had pancakes, eggs and sausage.  The pancakes were cooked light, fluffy and delicious.  The eggs were done just like I like them and the sausage was delicious.  The bottomless coffee was good as well.

Clean, bright diner with friendly staff.  There is a counter and both tables and booths.  Good food and regular diner value.

  3. Irish food ran by hispanics thats all I need to say.

The service is friendly but the food and prices suck.

    1) The french onion soup tasted nasty.
    2) The pancakes are as dry as an ass.
    3) The chicken fingers are served with Kraft honey mustard sauce.
    4) The disco fries are not waffle fries and have no gravy.
    5) The bacon is fatty and under-cooked.
    6) The chocolate milkshake tastes like chocolate milk. (Probably was)
    7) The fish was no good.

    Don't come here.

For whatever reason, I tried again… Got home late a few Saturday nights ago from an extremely long 2 day drive from my brother's funeral in Missouri & all I wanted was some good NY comfort food the next day.

Let's begin with the phone call… For some reason, the girl that answered had to keep putting me on hold to check if they had this or that. This was partially my fault as I did not realize they had changed their menu yet again! This happened to me in the past & the waitress asked what menu I was looking at & then informed me I had an old menu. Anyway, that was minor. They used to have a dish my boyfriend really liked back when the place was Kozy Korner – Ham steak with pineapple. After the changeover, they had this listed as a "daily dinner special" on the menu but told me they would only be offering it as a special on occasion (yeah, makes total sense)! So now they offer "Baked Virginia ham" instead (which I just found out).  Ok fine, whatever… I went ahead & placed the order to be picked up. The Ham dinner, a Reuben sandwich with mashed potato & a large coffee with half & half light. When I went in to pickup the cashier/waitress grabbed the receipt & rambled off the order to me & stated "the coffee is in the bag"… Good enough! I paid for the order & asked her if she could please throw some extra creamers in the bag for the coffee. She told me they don't have any creamers but said she could give me a cup with some on the side if I wanted (staring at me with a blank robotic Stepford Wife-like stare & not moving)… I said not to worry but by that time she was talking to a kid behind me & I no longer existed…

When I got home… There were NO utensils, napkins, butter, salt, pepper, (mustard &/or thousand island/Russian dressing for the Reuben), or COFFEE in the bag!! I will admit, again, that I usually make it a point to ask for thousand island for the Reuben but mustard is normally the default (in my past experiences)! God forbid they ask if you would like thousand island for the Reuben! I was PISSED!! I drove all the way back to get my missing items. I told the lady behind the counter what happened & asked her to please give me the half & half & I would make the coffee to my liking on my own. She began pouring the creamer, caught herself, stopped & handed it to me after filling the cup with coffee about 3/4 of the way. I put some creamer & she took the cup back. I asked her to add a little more coffee but she would not do it!! She did apologize for the mistakes. I was so angry that I don't even know if I mentioned that not only was the coffee not in the bag but nothing extra that you would normally get with take-out was provided!! My boyfriend & I have decided to just be done with this place. By the time I got home, the food was ice cold!

After ALL that…  The aggravation just ruined the entire experience & took away any enjoyment. Also, the ham was made with some weird brownish gravy & my mashed potatoes were way over-salted. The Reuben was ok after having to rewarm it in the microwave… The manager did reach out after the last not so great experience but what's the point if the people working there (wait staff/cooks) are clueless? By the looks of it, the crappy reviews outweigh the good. Might tell ya something… This place needs a serious revamping!! Sorry Mclean Corner Café but… we're out!
