  1. This diner has been a go-to place whenever I'm in the Hempstead/Westbury area. Service is always good, food is consistently good- no complaints here. Like all Long Island Diner's, the prices have certainly seen a huge increase in the past 3 or 4 years. That part, I'm not happy about!

Overall, this place is A-OK, a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or midnight snack!

  2. First of all, I want to start off by saying that this review is not without bias since I have been to multiple diners, this is in relation to the other diners on Long Island that I have been to.

You walk in and it still has the décor of an older fashion diner. The seats have jukeboxes etc. The booths are small and slightly uncomfortable.

As for the food, I ordered my diner favorite, Trout Almandine dinner which comes with soup, salad and side dish ( the other diner comes with dessert, this place did not). I ordered chicken noodle and greek salad. The soup comes out and it looked like Lipton in a tiny cup. It was for the most part tasteless.

The salad came out and it was a huge portion. It was fresh and the salad dressing was very good.

My boyfriend and his brother ordered sandwiches which came with coleslaw, pickles and a side of French Fries. The French Fries were steak fries which were pretty good. They also brought out chickpea salad which was very good.

Half way through my salad, the waiter comes out and tells me they are out of Trout. Although, I was very pleased with my waiter up until this point, I was confused why he didn't tell me this sooner. I got the cod Almandine instead which was just OK.

Over-all, I would say this diner was good, but not as good as some of the other diners ( like Eastbay) in the area. While my boyfriend and his brother loved their sandwiches, I thought my meal could've been better. Overall I would still recommend this diner for people close by. I would agree that it is deserving of 2.5 stars.

  3. While I usually patronize the Harvest Diner in Westbury (yelp.com/biz/harvest-din…) as it is the closest and best diner near my home, I decided to meet my friend from Queens here as opposed to the Harvest since this diner was still close to my home and easier for him to get to, as it is not far from major highways like the Meadowbrook and Northern State Parkways. In addition, I had been here in the past and had a positive experience, as I found the food, service, and atmosphere to be very good! I arrived here last Wednesday at about 7:30PM, where I was greeted by the host, who was middle-aged and had longish hair. I don't recall his name, but he was very friendly and welcoming and was happy to escort me to a nice booth in the clean and inviting dining area, where I waited for my friend, who showed up a couple of minutes later. We were then greeted by our waiter Felix, who was friendly and polite. He took our orders for a Diet Coke and an Iced Tea, which were delivered quickly as we perused the large menu, typical of many diners. Based on what I wanted and Felix's recommendation, I went with the Chicken Kebab Complete Dinner, which came with a fruit salad, Greek Salad, and dessert as I was very hungry while my friend ordered a Cheeseburger with fries and French Onion Soup. First, Felix brought a bowl of chickpeas and crisp half-sour pickles that I enjoyed plus cole slaw, which my friend enjoyed. As I was having a wonderful time with my friend, I then received a small bowl of fruit salad, which had juicy honeydew, tart grapefruit, sweet and sour oranges, and crisp, sweet, and sour grapes, making for a light and refreshing start to my meal. Next, I received a fairly large bowl of Greek Salad, which had crisp lettuce, salty and crumbly feta, ripe grape tomatoes, and salty and briny olives. At the same time, my friend received his French Onion Soup which I did not try, but he reported that it was good, as he thought it was well made and had a good ratio of cheese to soup. When it was time for the entrees, I received my Chicken Kebab dinner, which was large enough for two meals with moist, tender, and well seasoned chunks of grilled chicken, sweet and smokey grilled onions and grilled peppers, and grilled sweet and slightly acidic tomatoes served on fluffy and slightly salty rice pilaf. My friend liked his Cheeseburger, which he found to be large, juicy, and well cooked along with crisp and salty fries. Throughout our meal, we found that Felix provided great service, as he was friendly, efficient, and on point! Since my meal included a dessert and I could not eat any of the cakes or pastries included, I asked Felix if I could have the delicious fruit salad for dessert to go and he was more than happy to oblige. Before we finished eating, I also used the Mens Room, which I found to be very clean and well stocked. With the good food, great service, and clean and inviting restaurant, as well as the bonus of being open 24/7, the Carle Place Diner has the makings of a four-star review. So why I am only rating them three stars? Well, unfortunately, compared to other diners I have been to in my area, like the Harvest in Westbury and the Colony and Apollo Diners in East Meadow, the prices on some items are high for what you get, despite the good food and large portions. My friends Deluxe Hamburger with Fries was $10.25 before tax and his French Onion Soup was $4.95 before tax, which was OK, my Complete Dinner was pricey, as it was near $26 in change with tax for my complete dinner, compared to a similar complete dinner being a little under $20 at other diners I have been to. For that price, I could go to a better restaurant as that is on the high side for a diner. Despite the high prices, I would return to the Carle Place Diner as it was good and convenient, even though there are other diners in the area that I prefer.

  4. Never go wrong at a diner. Huge portions of food, that two can actually  eat from.  Very convenient  location. Prices  reasonable. Their desserts  options simply  Sinful. Cant watch calories  on those pieces. Lol. Staffing  very friendly  work well with substitution.

  5. Came here because we drove passed Thomas Eggery down the block and like always the line was out the door so we opted for Carle Place Diner. Coffee came out hot and fresh quickly as soon we sat down. I ordered a small greek salad with chicken and she ordered eggs, bacon toast. Bread basket came out with the salad with butter and all the fixens. My "small" salad was huge, glad I didn't opt for the large because I had trouble finishing the small. It was a fresh salad and very tasty. The service is what boost this place to 4 stars for me. Our waiter was so quick and attentive, brought coffee for my girlfriend even though I am the only one who asked. Good food, better service.

  6. Came here on a whim because my little bro and I were hungry and just leaving the mall at closing (so not much else was opened).

It's a nice, clean, old fashion diner. Maybe the cleanest and neatest diner I've ever been to.

Service was superb. I was surprised, really. Our waiter and bus boy were so very nice and attentive. I wish I got their names.

Now 3 stars because people really only come to the diner for diner food, not great service. The food was "A-OK." French onion soup was okay, mozzarella sticks were good. Run of the mill stuff. We didn't make it to ordering anything else because I was feeling a cheese overload but that's my own fault.

I'm not a diner person by any means but I'll come back to try more if the mood calls for it.

  7. The shiniest authentic Greek diner I've seen in ages! Why it has only 3 stars is a mystery.
We luckily came across this place as thomas' eggs and ham diner up the street was overflowing.
This is a super diner with an extensive menu and flexibility to prep what you want.
The waitstaff is classic old school Greek and marvelous.
And the people who come here are friendly too as if to catch the vibe.
The decor is totally Art Deco even the terrazzo floor. And the  aluminum lined Formica booths are awesome with vintage Rock Ola music boxes 50s style. Some work even!  so you can play whatever oldie or new hit you choose with as little as two quarters.
Typical diner fare served with flare I was impressed and my daughter loved it.
Will bring people here for an authentic Diner experience.

  8. Oh boy, not the best experience. Due to poor planning, we took my mother in law here for Mothers day. Blame my husband. I was willing to wait the hour at LL Dent around the corner 😉

Walked in around 4, walked out around 5:30 and the place was practically empty. The service was that bad. There's an older gentleman waiter that just needs to be let go. It took almost a full five minutes to even get water, a full ten to get our order taken, and after our food was dropped off we never saw him again. My mother in law had to get his attention because we had been finished eating for almost fifteen or twenty minutes and we wanted the check.  He literally put his hands up and said he was running around and couldn't get to us. Check please!

The only person who enjoyed anything was my mother in law who enjoyed her prime rib, which was large, tender and flavorful. My husband's shrimp parm had a thick cold layer of mozzarella on it and my greek grilled chicken wrap had had the cup of dressing spilled on it so the wrap was soggy by the time it got to me. The chicken, I must say, had a nice char on it though.

My husband mentioned to the older male cashier that the service had been lacking and the terse "sorry" response leads me to believe that they just, overall, don't give a rat's arse.
