Favorite Diner of all time. Dinner specials are delicious. LOVE THE FRENCH ONION SOUP AMAZING!! Can be overwhelming with children of all ages and kinda noisy. Sometimes you get lucky and get a decent waitress, not always the case. Haven't had a yucky meal there. be prepared to eat. They do give you alot of food. Not a fan of the desserts..Bake better ones at home. Rice pudding is hit or miss..The coconut custard used to be out of this world but must have changed baker or recipe bc last time I got it, it sucked. Used to be delicious. Was one of their best sellers. Even there meatloaf was decent. Had spinach pie so yummy. Wasn't crazy bout the mousaka or pastitsio, had better..made better..They do serve alcohol, which is nice. That also helps to deal with screaming brats that run around.
For a late breakfast on New Year's Day, my family decided to try out Park Place Diner as it is really close to home. The diner was extremely busy as their large parking lot was nearly full.
Somewhat of a pancake junkie, I was craving some for lunch and thankfully my order of buttermilk pancakes was excellent. Cooked spot on to a nice slightly browned and golden hue they were moist, fresh, and fluffy. You can use 0whatever positive adjectives for pancakes to describe them.
Nice to see that a creamy whipped butter was supplied as well.
Though my one negative was that the blueberries weren't all that fresh with a fair number of them being overripe and wrinkled.
Mom's "Everything" Omelette was cooked exactly the way she wanted which is a tad above done. All of the ingredients were fresh and the eggs were seasoned nicely too.
Home fries were cooked properly to a crisp toasty exterior and hot moist interior.
She particularly like the slightly charred and chunky texture of the potatoes.
Sister had the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and home fries. She remarked on how tasty the corned beef was and that the scrambled eggs were fresh and seasoned well. Again the home fries were cooked on point.
When walking in I spied the pastry display case and noticed several really fresh looking cakes and pies, so after finishing our lunch dishes we chose to indulge in dessert and try out the banana cream pie.
The pie slice didn't look too pretty when it was presented to us (looked to have been sliced a bit roughly, though cream pies are hard to slice evenly), but tasting the first spoonful I was very very happy to taste some really smooth & rich cream and fresh banana slices embedded inside said cream. Coupled with a cup of the surprisingly robust coffee, it was a really nice way to conclude lunch.
Overall we all left quite happy with a very solid breakfast for lunch.
Stopped in here while in the area. Pretty nice looking diner and our waitress was very nice. I grabbed a chicken gyro while the wife had a tuna melt and our son had his cheese quesadillas. My gyro was ok, The chicken is grilled white meat chicken, not the typical slices you get on a gyro. Lettuce tom. and tatziki on a pita. Not great, but not bad. wife said her tuna melt was the best she ever had. Son said his quesadillas were very good. I would really say this is a 3 1/2 star rating. Will def try again with some other items next time.
Huge variety of menu selections. I use to go here much more when I worked in the area. Very consistent food and open for your late night munchies on Friday and Saturday night. Salads are always my go to here or a veggie egg white omelette. Typical NJ Diner and that's a good thing. Service was good. Plenty of parking.
Out of the two diners I visited last time in NJ, this one was my least favorite. I came here just once on the same morning that we had arrived. I ordered a pretty simple dish, ham steak and eggs, but man did I choose unwisely.
I mean really, I can only blame myself for ordering this dish. Especially since it's one I would hardly ever get! But for some reason that's what I wanted…and I was hungry so I ate it, but it just wasn't that good. First off, things started out badly when I drank the water and it was the toe tappingest tappy tap water ever. Maybe the water here is just more…flavorful? I got an ice tea though, which was fine.
The ham that I got looked nice but the smoke flavor was extremely overpowering. Just bad, bad tasting ham. I ordered my eggs over-easy, they were cooked well but extremely greasy to boot. I had also opted for tomatoes instead of potatoes with my dish and they were some of the saddest, palest tomatoes ever. I mean, I thought Jersey tomatoes were supposed to be the *thing* like, the greatest tomatoes on earth! What happened Jersey?
On the plus side our waitress was super friendly, the place seemed pretty clean and they did have the most amazing desserts I'd ever seen. Based on all those yummy looking cakes and pastries in their case, I would come back solely for dessert. Unfortunately I didn't order that for breakfast. Next time, I'd probably be better off getting a slice of cake and a glass of milk at 9am.
We came to the diner on weekend afternoon. We entered and were promptly seated. There was a little riff raff behind the bar counter btw two servers, but after a few minutes we realized they were just joking with each other. They were loud throughout our meal. It seemed a little unprofessional but hey, we are eating at a diner.
I ordered a meatball parm sandwich, and my husband got an omelette. Both were underwhelming and luke-warm. My meatballs were flavored with some type of spice that we both did not like. The portions were huge, and we did not leave hungry. Our waitress was very pleasant.
Usually come here with my parents about once a week. Nice diner and I love the wraps and panini's. They seem to have a new set of waiters and waitresses everytime we go.
When ordering wraps/paninis they tend to forget the sauce/dressing that comes with it. Last time we are there my mom ordered the Mexican panini…the waitress came back and asked if she ordered the Cuban and both my mom and I said "no the mexican". Well our food came out and it was the Cuban. It was returned and the correct one came out but all we got was a sorry from the manager/owner. You think being he sees us there all the time he would have done something for us. My dad and I were almlst done eating by the time my mom got hers(she insisted we don't wait).
Other than that the diner has such a wide variety of food to choose from and also a liquor license for anyone who likes a drink with their meal.
New Jersey is known as the land of diner's and this place is a prime example of they all should be. I stopped in for a quick lunch with my brother the other day not expecting much more than just an average diner, but was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot was packed so we figured a wait, until we got inside and saw how large it really is. There was no wait and we were immediately seated and handed our menu's (thick books). Like any good diner, the menu is all expansive. There are pages of everything you could expect, from breakfast to sandwiches to burgers and so on. I got one of the daily specials which was an oversized sandwich (which I couldn't finish) with my choice of soup or salad and then dessert. All for under $10. Everything about it proved it was a good choice and definitely a solid go-to choice in the neighborhood.
