Skylark Diner
“Professional staff of waiters and waitresses, which give you excellent service (and are good looking too, well dressed and groomed).”
“Its like a Jersey Diner meets a lounge meets a retro NYC restaurant.”
“The decor made me think of "The Jetsons" of the 60's.
The Cuban sandwich and the shredded rib eye sandwich were both terrific.”

Anthony our server was funny and very attentive. Lived his vibe, he made us feel comfortable.
We ordered mimosas and the person making them came with her own booze cart and made them in front of us. I loved this concept. I was very impressed. It was delicious.
Our food came out pretty fast. I suggest come very hungry portions are pretty big. Not to say I didn't eat my share and took leftovers home.
My Monte Bianca was a perfect combination of mushrooms, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes. corn beef hash had chunks of corn beef. It's a winner in my book.
I would definitely come back. I will try on Friday nights or happy hour.
The Skylark Diner is a Diners, Drive-ins & Dives location, The ambiance is ok and the service is good. But we struggled to figure out what it was about the food that attracted the show.
I had a Southwest wrap that was ok, but my wife had a steak sandwich. Unfortunately, you couldn't taste the steak but the over-abundance of lettuce was alarming.
The tres leches bread pudding was also just ok. Probably no re-visit.
My friend and I went today after movies at the AMC @ Menlo, and it was packed. We went around 1pm for brunch, and waited 20 min. The staff was super friendly, was we did wait a while before our order was taken, as well as for the food. But once the food arrived, it was yummy! I got a healthy egg white omelette with turkey sausage, toast, and fruit. Light but satisfied my hunger. Overall would definitely visit again, but maybe next time in less busy times (by the time we left at 3pm, the line was gone).

This has become the go to place for weekend brunch for my family in the CNJ area.
Be prepared to wait about 15 minutes on the weekends. This place looks like a fancier version of local diner.
The service is polite and attentive and the food is very good.
My favorites are the Turkey hash and the Crab Benedict. I also like that they have freshly squeezed OJ.
Do you know that feeling when a venue has garnered a special place in your heart because of the memories you've created there??… Well this is what Skylark meant to me. From post movie theatre late night omelettes, to insider joking as to the spelling of the name I'll always fondly remember this diner. My partner and I were always pleasantly impressed by the warm basket of bread placed on our table, the extensive selection of diner food and even at the fact that on the weekends the place would switch over to a lounge like atmosphere. Though I live in Philly now and am too far from the Edison area to stop by, this charming welcoming customer service oriented establishment will always hold dear and sweet memories for me. Be sure to stop by and make some memories of your own.
Stopped at the Skylark with my exchange student after a meeting. She's vegetarian so I try to find places where she can have a variety of menu options. She was impressed with the menu and ordered a black bean burger. I had eggs benedict. She really loved her burger, said it was big, juicy and a little too much to finish. Nice place.
They serve artisan breads when you sit down. They certainly get you with the prices of the drinks, though. My student had an orange juice, I had a tea, and the bill before tip was over 31.00. That's high for a diner lunch.
Service was good, food was good, prices are a bit too high.
I've been going to this diner for years thanks to no-change Dad. (This is right around the corner from his place.) The diner is conveniently located on the south bound side of Route 18, near New Brunswick. However, their parking lot is ALWAYS a nightmare which isn't helpful when visiting unless on foot or bike. There's a modern, deco, lounge-like theme going on inside and out which is interesting. Another unique aspect is a full bar located on one side of the diner.
The menu is simple with a number of breakfast staples: eggs benedict, challah bread french toast, etc. Additionally you can find salads, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and a variety of dinner items (ie. chicken chipotle rice bowl, Bulgogi pork chops, fish and chips, Guinness braised short ribs, etc). Something for everyone but a bit on the pricey side but decent quality. Overall this is a nice place to eat with some friends, family or on a date.
Fancy diner! Had a good selection of "diner" food, and even had beer/wine on the menu. My turkey wrap was OK, nothing special. My husband's omelette was OK too. I would say standard diner food in a beautiful diner! Good place for lunch meeting, I saw a lot of business goers dining here.
