Very good for a fast food chain. The chicken sandwiches are juicy and tasty, and the waffle fries are salted perfectly. Don't be intimidated by the long lines this place can have, they move very fast.
It was my first time having Chick-fil-A. I admit that the spicy chicken was pretty tender but it didn't really wow me. However, for a fast food place, I would say it was not bad at all.
Technically, Chick-fil-A is a fast food restaurant, so if you're questioning my judgement in giving a fast food restaurant a 4-star rating, I get you – but Chick-fil-A is no standard fast food restaurant, and it should not be treated as such. Chick-fil-A is a true gift, and any Southern transplant to the North will appreciate its newfound presence in their new homes – because nothing hits the spots quite like Chick-fil-A, any anyone who's tried it even once knows exactly the appeal – hot, fresh, crispy chicken on a beautiful, round bun, garnished only with pickles, and accompanied by a side of hot, wonderfully crispy yet potato-y waffle fries. There is no "fast food" quite like it.
I was extremely excited to attend the grand opening of Chick-Fil-A at Newport Mall – the line was so long during lunch. I stopped by for lunch yesterday and saw the sign on the counter stating, "GRAND OPENING WED. NOV. 11th. I thought to myself, I will be back tomorrow!
Three things –
1. I was particularly impressed at how the Chick-fil-A Corporate team and new franchise owner handled the crowd. The employees were walking and interacting with customers to take their orders (wrote the orders on a piece of paper — old fashioned way works too) to expedite the process. Talk about efficient operation management!
2. The Grand Opening team actually flew in from the Corporate office in Atlanta to prepare three weeks before grand opening day (which is today). Talk about ensuring a successful launch!
3. The CFA burger, waffle fries and chocolate chip cookies were so tasty! Waffle fries were not too oily or deeply fried.
I rarely eat lunch at the mall during a work day but I was curious about the level of interactions the employees had with the customers. The CFA Corporate team sat at a nearby table – I think they too were making observations on the operations.
Furthermore, I came back after work to grab dinner to go! This is my designated lunch spot for the next few weeks! 🙂
My first ever chik fil a! I've been waiting and waiting to try this place and finally did. Upon arriving, I was told by my friend that their chicken sandwiches are so simple and yet very addicting. I got their original chicken sandwich with waffle fries. All I have to say that their chicken sandwich was so simple and yet very addicting. Their waffles fries, likewise.
Every single person that I talked with love this place and I always am wondering where that rave comes from – so decided to give a try at Chik-Fil-A. Another reason I'm trying is because the place at newport mall was empty; unlike its NYC sister, which was always so crowded!
Opted for the Cobb salad with chicken filet, since they don't carry Asian salad. Their chicken meat was indeed tender and was the best I've ever experienced at a fast food chain. Already cannot wait for their regular burger!
I know a lot of people love this place, stopped by for a chat with the cow, and the registers humming, staff learning and running around.
Ordered a #2. Given a #4. My friend ordered a #1, got… not sure, but it was grilled, not fried. Ah, well. Chicken was still good, and waffle fries were good. Just not what I ordered. Ah, well. Also somehow ended up with an extra side of fries and a diet coke when I ordered a Dr. Pepper. Hm.
Cheese side with the fries is highly recommended. The Polynesian sauce … not so crazy. BBQ was good and standard. Honey BBQ – a little too sweet for my taste, more honey than BBQ.
And the chicken noodle soup – a good touch for a cold day. Fresh shredded chicken and a good mix of veggies but not as much for a large serving as I would like. Still, just as good as when I tried it in the past.
Overall, good food and a nice change of pace from McD's or Burger King chicken, but they need to work on getting my order right the next time.
I mean chic-fil-a is chic-fil-a but I rather eat at their location that's not at a food court! I found that they were more friendly and had some sort of hospitality at the Woodbridge saint George crossing…the size of the food seems to be smaller at Newport also lol, it might just be me!
