  1. Same great food is a bigger location and right next to a liquor store!

I wish people hated coming here so I would never have to wait for a table.

I live in Paterson and go out of my way to get gryo here. The tzakisfssj (sp) sauce glues the gyro and pita together making tiny bite size greek sandwiches.

I alway stick to large gyro over hytirikaridii (sp) salad. I dont know how to pronoune it but it's a lettece less salad with loads of tomato, cucumber, and pepper.

You're a noob if you order lentil soup and expect it to be the best thing in the menu.

  2. *lentil soup (not bad, the soup itself was tomato based but thankfully not salty; the lentils themselves were cooked well, I just wish there was more veggies or for the broth to be thicker)
*gyro platter (the gyro meat itself was dry, really salty and didn't have much flavor to it; the meat tastes as if it was pre-sliced hence the dryness and ready to just put on a plate upon order. The rice was alright, also very salty. The tzatziki sauce was so blah, there wasn't much flavor to it, it was just cold and yogurty. In addition, the pita bread they have in the restaurant is really interesting. The taste is kind of off. I've never had pita bread with that odd of a taste, but if you dip it in that tzatziki sauce it makes the pita more eatable)

This place is rather cute. Super packed on a Saturday night when we got carry out, which took about 40minutes. Food itself is mediocre, so not sure why people are flocking here. Despite their ehhh food, the service is very good haha.

  3. Came here for the first time with my dad last night and it was so busy!  It's a little far off from us but my dad said he's been there before and it is great.  People were walking in and out picking up to-go orders and it was packed inside.  Immediately I noticed the hosts were so friendly, told us it would take about 10 minutes to be seated.  It was so awesome to see people coming in picking up their orders and the man a the register knew them all by name, seems like a great local establishment.  I was seated quickly while my dad ran next door to the Shoprite liquor store to grab some beer.  Another plus, its BYOB, wine and beer are acceptable.  My dad ordered the grilled veggie gyro and I ordered the chicken gyro.  The chicken in my gyro was very good and it was a great portion for the price.  My dad loved the grilled veggie gyro too!  I really like this place and it's worth the drive for me.  I love the local, homey feel and great service.  Prices are very reasonable as well!

  4. Wow! After going here on an employee at my grandma's nursing home recommended this establishment for lunch and based on a positive New York Times review, I finally decided to give this place a try and I do not regret it. Since I was on a bit of a tight schedule today, I decided to order takeout. When I called, a friendly lady answered the phone and took my order for a Grilled Chicken Souvlaki Platter with rice, no pita and a Greek Salad. She promised that my order would be ready in 20 minutes. About 10 minutes before my food was ready, I left for the Greek Village and drove two minutes from my grandfather's nursing home. Once I arrived, I was immediately impressed by the restaurant's atmosphere, which felt authentic and homey with paintings of Greek landscapes on the wall, authentic Greek chairs with the tables (I learned this from the host.), blue hanging light fixtures, and a ceiling sculpture almost reminiscent of sails. Also, I found the restaurant and its restrooms to be immaculate! I also found the employees, including Joel, the host, a young waitress, an older waiter, the female owner, and one of the chefs to be friendly and hospitable. Ten minutes later, I received my food and when I tried it, I was instantly impressed! I found the Grilled Chicken on the platter to be very juicy, tender, and well spiced, with a pleasant char from the grill as well as a hint of lemon. I also enjoyed the grilled vegetables it was served with, which included a large half of a sweet and savory grilled zucchini  as well as a generous portion of a sweet grilled onion, which had a nice bite. I also enjoyed the rice that the chicken was served with, as it was fluffy and pleasantly salty. The Greek Salad, with fresh and crisp vegetables as well as salty and crumbly feta was better than I expected. While the price at $21 in change may seem pricey with the salad being $4.95 and the platter ringing up at $14.95, given the high quality and generous portion sizes, I thought that the prices were reasonable, making The Greek Village a good value. With excellent food, friendly folks, and a welcoming atmosphere, it is no wonder that The Greek Village has been in business for nearly 17 years (I learned this from the owner) and I would definitely return again!
