It's a good hotdog. I thought the house mustard has relish in it. I asked for it when ordering so I'm not sure why there wasn't any relish on the dog. Definitely do a double dog. A single is small. Curly fries were as good as others say. The shake was obviously made with a good quality ice cream. I think they make the ice cream here. I am so partial to an all-beef frank, but this hotdog is good. It's a national historic marker, so that was worth the trip alone.
The line was long, the order was delivered incorrectly (forgot the relish, even though it was read back to me correctly) and the dogs, while good, did not live up to the 20 minute wait.
But – the egg cream was terrific, a d being that no place serves egg creams any more, I will happily stand in line again
I don't like hot dogs. But that because I never had a real hot dog until I tried Walters.
This place is such a novelty, and now I know why. There is nothing quite like it. The taste of these hot dogs are in a league of their own, and literally changed the way I think of hot dogs.
Just. Go get one. Then you will realize why the lines are always the way they are.
This is a national landmark this place has been around for a very long time and everything is made fresh ice cream hot dogs root beer sodas everything is really great. The hot dogs are amazing you have got to try this place at least once in your lifetime. There is a nice area to sit and eat the food and it is super quite I really enjoyed the hot dogs.
Walters Hot Dog has been a favorite of mine since my high school years. I've enjoyed there hot dogs. There mustard is what makes the hot dogs. I would recommend going to Walters but come when they open because the line gets long on the weekends during Lunch.
My father always said Walter's served up one of THE BEST hot dogs around.. He was right. Walter's hot dog is simple and that's what makes it special because it doesn't need to be topped with all those fancy toppings you'll find in most other hot dog stands. Split and grilled in butter on a flat top grill along with the bun and topped with their homemade mustard. They don't have sauerkraut so don't ask for it, unless you want them to give you the hAiRy eYeBaLL.. :-P. These dogs are simply delicious made with a special blend of beef, veal, and pork.. they're mildly spiced and just so tasty.. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. You'll easily put away 2.. Do get the potato puffs, they're homemade and are soo good. Basically scoops of mashed potatoes deep fried.. just so darn yummy! The history behind this place is cool too – serving up hot dogs at this unique location since 1928, it's a national landmark. Plenty of tables in a well manicured picnic area to enjoy your dog's ;-). It's a sweet little spot and a slice of Americana.
I'm not a fan of hot dogs, but I'm a fan of Walter's– the best hot dogs, ever!
How could this historic landmark built in 1919 render less than 5 stars? For hot dogs and hamburgers I am usually keen on making them at home – simply because I know what I am putting into them. These hot dogs however, are something that CAN NOT BE REPLICATED. They are juicy, made of veal, beef, and I believe pork?… They are slightly crunchy on the outside, and sliced down the middle to lay flat on the bun. The mustard has a hint of relish in it – something I found to be a tasty idea! The funnel cake fries were remarkable – not greasy whatsoever! The potato puffs were outstanding, and a nice substitute for your typical fries. Walter's is a must go! The staff was efficient and friendly, the surrounding picnic area was tidy and quaint, and the establishment overall was something unique!
