  1. If I want Indian and I'm in Forest Hills, I go to Haveli. But if I'm in Forest Hills, that usually mean I have a kid with me. And Haveli is kid-friendly. The dining area is huge with a band area for performances. Nothing was performing that night we were there. And since it was night, I wasn't there for the buffet, but dinner was delicious.

    – Lamb Korma: creamy, classic, great with naan.
    – Saag Paneer: fresh paneer, creamy spinach great with rice.
    – Bhindi Masala: okra wasn't as soft as I liked it, this was okay.

Our waiter was very attentive. I left full and happy. Oh, and don't forget the Yelp deal!

  2. We came for a wedding event.  The party was upstairs and had close to 150 people.  The food was fantastic, though on the spicy side.  The spicy side didn't agree with everyone, but I loved it.  Nicely decorated location, yummy food except for some hair strands that got lost in my meal.  Only complaint is the drink service.  There should be a better method in providing drinks to the guests.  The bar is way in the back of the venue and they only service drinks in 7oz cups.  By the time we got back to the table, the cup was empty.  Please use bigger cups, please!

  3. Very rich and delicious Indian food, though it is a little pricey when you're not going for the lunch buffet. I've never actually been to the lunch buffet, but it looks pretty good and I'm sad that I've missed out so far. Guess I will have to put it on the Yelp 2015 to-do list.

The chicken tikka masala was good, and the naan was quite pillow-y. I also recommend the mango lassi. It was thick and creamy, and was really almost a meal on its own.

The only weird thing is that the place is an "outrageous banquet hall" as per Kent C.'s review, and I'd have to agree. It's a little weird to sit an have dinner in a voluminous hall with chandeliers and enough space to host a legion of people. All right, that's a bit of a hyperbole, but it's a really really big room.

Bottom line: if you're feeling Indian food and you're in the area at lunch buffet time, definitely check it out.

  4. I purchased the Yelp deal and came here on a Saturday night. It was fairly empty, but there was live music playing and the setting was great. Upon arrival, we gave our waiter the voucher. The mango lassi was creamy and thick, very yummy. For appetizers, we had the samosa, which was fresh and delicious. For entrees, we had the lamb chops and chicken tikka masala, which were both delicious! Their naan was fresh, crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. The meal was great, as was the service.
However, it took about 20 minutes for anyone to give us the check, and when it was given to us, it didn't include the discount from the voucher. After I informed the waiter about the situation, he went back to the desk to fix the bill. He came back later and gave us the corrected bill.
    This was all fine until….
He stood there (probably a foot away from our table between me and my boyfriend, upper body slightly bent forward and facing us)……..
…… and waited for my boyfriend to take out his wallet…..
…….watched my boyfriend pull out money……
…….watched my boyfriend put the bills on the table……
…… and took the money before we could even get up.
    awkward.
I would definitely come back for the food, but I'm a little iffy on the service.

  5. Unfortunately the Sunday buffet I sat for turned out to be not what I had expected. The Yelp fan fare held strong at four stars for as long as I has been wanting to check Havalli out, were talking the better part of a full calendar year.

Huge, spacious dining room, clean and quite regal upon entering. But as I found my seating, unassisted, I peered at the hot buffet tray count which totalled 8. Now I do understand that your really not going to get the most out of an 11:00-3:00 brunch when you show up at 2:15, however…

The dishes not been torn through with reckless abandon only held a few morsels and no restock was on the horizon. Worse yet, I felt the food was Americanized Indian, toned down and muted, bland and frankly boring.

King Fisher was out if stock,I blame the delivery company, as that was how it was explained in all due sincerity. The mystery spicy Indian mixed drink would have put the face of any casual drinker flat in the naan, but alas, I'm a pro. But wowser was it potent.

A return trip will most definitely be in my future plans, I'm sure that I just caught them at an odd time.

  6. I came here for restaurant week and the night was going well and I was also enjoying my meal until I ordered a second glass of wine and there was a dead cockroach on my wine glass. The server was  obviously not paying attention if he had the audacity to pour wine into that dirty glass and then proceed to walk it over to my table. I was absolutely disgusted. I definitely was not going to leave a tip but when we were leaving the waiter started yelling at my boyfriend saying "where is my tip". I was ready to curse him out but my boyfriend is a gentleman and gave me a look to relax; he tipped him $5 and the waiter sighed in the most ungrateful manner.

  7. Great buffet spread for only $10.95! I mean if you're in the area craving indian food then you might as well stop by and eat some. Delicious!

  8. Definitely not one of the best Indian foods that I have ever had but it was descent enough to enjoy a descent Indian meal. We ordered Paneer Haveli with Black lentils (dal). The assortment of breads like Aloo parantha, Onion kulcha and Tandoori roti was quite gud. However I was disappointed with dessert (gulabjamun) that tasted market bought and a bit stale. Overall an average dining experience!
