The Dubliner is a chill and nice Irish bar in the financial district. We like to throw events there for a group. There's a lot of space and it's not too busy so it's good for us to get drinks easily from the bar. They also have a great selection of spirits, wine and beer. The bar food is pretty delicious too I have tried the wings and fries. They make a good old fashion cocktail. A great spot to catch up with a friend, have a happy hour and just a gathering!
Meh. I came here for a work lunch and although we had made a reservation they seemed a little unprepared for our group. We waited forever to give our order, drinks and meals came at different times and the food itself was nothing exciting. My Caesar tasted straight out of a bag and my French onion soup was pretty average. I know it's fidi/Stone street but there are other options nearby. They do get points for the cool decorations though, it was very festive and Thanksgiving-themed inside.
After checking out the menu at several restaurants on Stone Street, which is a super charming pedestrian street with twinkling lights strung up in between the buildings, we chose to eat at the Dubliner. We popped inside to see if a hostess could seat us, but someone said we could just sit down. We grabbed a table along the sidewalk and waited and wait and waited and waited.
Finally, I stood up to go inside to see if a server was available and spoke with the one server we had seen outside, who then ended up serving our table. She had walked by several times, and I'm not sure why, but just ignored us. Maybe it was miscommunication with another server or something, but it didn't start out great. After that, service returned to normal and was decent.
The food is basically standard pub fare with the addition of some Irish dishes. We each ordered a drink and our food. I went with the portobello mushroom panini. They used a bread that stood up to the juices of the portobello mushroom, so it wasn't soggy at all.
It is a nice experience to sit outside and dine on Stone Street, and I would say the Dubliner is pretty average.
I was visiting NY with my boyfriend and his family. The boyfriend can't pass up an Irish pub. And his brother and sister-in-law live in Ireland. So when I found this on Yelp, there were some thumbs up to try it out. LOVE the outdoor seating space. We were here for brunch. A few chose the Irish breakfast. I decided to not go the Irish route and got pancakes instead. Boring, I now. They do serve alcohol. When you get any brunch item, you can get unlimited Mimosa, Bloody Mary or Bud Light Draft for 2 hour time period for $20. 3 stars for food. 4 stars given the great environment and service.
A few of my coworkers come here during the week for lunch/drinks. I decided to join them this past Friday and see what made them keep coming back.
The Dubliner is larger than it appears from the outside. The entire restaurant wraps around and ends in a large room in the back that faces William Street. The bar is a good size, as well. The restaurant is dimly-lit but I guess that adds to its pub vibe. When our waitress came around to get our drink order, I asked which beers they had since we were only presented with a food menu. She started rattling off a list of beers and I just went with what I know…Because, again, no drink menu was presented. Do they just not have one? I also noticed they serve wine since my coworkers were drinking that while I enjoyed my beer.
The food menu is basic but provides typical pub fare. I went with the turkey burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were addicting and I could not stop eating them. The burger was just okay. The bun was good and toasted well but the patty itself was overcooked and a bit burnt on the bottom. It still hit the spot and I still finished it but I'm not sure I would order it again. One coworker ordered the margherita pizza and said it was just okay, as well. Two other coworkers split the steak sandwich and seemed to really enjoy it.
Service here is painfully slow. Our waitress was nice enough but barely checked on us. She also seemed to disappear when we needed the bill. She was smart and wrote down what amount went on which card when we paid, though. Overall, a decent place to grab some simple food during your lunch hour.
This is our second experience with this place. The first was amazing a few years ago. But things have seriously gone down hill!!
We sat outside on their street seating. It was awful! I had to flag someone down for a menu. She never came back to get our order, even though she served others around us. After 30 minutes, I went inside to get the round myself. She was standing there! Doing nothing! The bartender wasn't much better. I made a comment about not getting served outside, and she clearly didn't give a hoot.
We eventually got a second server. We ordered food and she never checked on us. Never cleared our empty bottles and glasses (after three rounds of drinks!) We had to ask for water multiple times and it was never refilled. The highlight of the experience was being outdoor. And the fish and chips were decent. Overall, unfortunate service.
A wee bit of me is Irish, but not Irish enough to count (1/8th Irish to be exact), and on a recent business trip the Dubliner was one of the few places open on a Sunday night. I got there just before 8pm for dinner. I was hoping to meet a bunch of Irish people, or those of descent to chat with.
The place was quiet. There was one group in the dining area and the bartender was talking with a customer, who I determined later was her boyfriend. I sat myself at the bar and I had to wait a few minutes to get served. I ordered a Guiness and a bowl of Irish stew. The menu had a few irish dishes on it, but it was mostly americanized. I'd like to see more irish content.
First the waitress didn't really know how to pour a guiness. She didn't let it sit long enough and it was delivered to me with over an inch of head on it. I was able to watch the simpsons while waiting for my food.
The stew showed up, and it was darn good, or I was really hungry or a combination of the two. The presentation was a little different that what I was accustomed to with a dollop of mashed in the middle of the stew. Next the stew tasted quite good, the meat had a slight taste to it as if a small amount of curry powder was added to the mix. Being part Indian I can appreciate the fusion. Neither of these are complaints – just observations. The former was an interesting change of presentation and the latter was a unique twist on taste and flavour.
The food was good – above average. Service was light. Not sure if I'd repeat, since there are a couple of other Irish places in the area to try out as well.
We came here for brunch and were a little disappointed in the food. I really enjoyed the fact that all of their brunch items were $18 (exception being the crab benedict) and that they all included an alcoholic beverage. We got the bloody mary and it was really tasty, a great bloody mary mix! I ordered the crab benedict and was so incredibly disappointed in the egg itself, it was over cooked to the point that the yolk was completely solid very reminiscent of a hard boiled egg. We also ordered the shepherds pie which was absolutely delicious. I'm truly not a fan of shepherd's pie and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The inside was very similar to a chilli but it had great flavor and was truly delicious. We were able to sit outside on the street and it was such a lovely day that it made the whole experience that much better.
