average food + average service = over priced ???
Flavorful abundance of food for inexpensive prices! I always spend about $8-10 and get two full meals in one serving! I highly recommend the special where you get 2 vegetables choices and a side of naan. Def try the aloo tiki – 2 pcs for $3 among the many other sides or add-ons! There is also ample seating upstairs with a chutney and salad bar.
I stopped by Curry in a Hurry for a super early lunch last week. Luckily, they open at 10, and I was able to get a bite to eat with time to spare for a meeting I had an hour later. Although most people may not consider eating curry at such an early hour, I was thrilled to get an Indian food fix so early in the day!
I ended up getting some Chicken Tikka Masala with rice. The price was $9.50, which is pretty reasonable for Indian food. The food is served from hot trays, not made to order. This is a big part of why the food is ready "in a hurry" and the prices are reasonable. The one downside is that you can't really make any specific requests. I found the tikka masala to be very mild, and personally would have liked a spicier curry, but it's made one way, and that's what you get.
Although there is definitely better Indian food in the neighborhood, Curry in a Hurry is a good choice if you are looking for something very quick. You can easily get your food to go, or enjoy some of the upstairs seating, where there are carafes of water on each table, plenty of silverware, cups and more, and even a television for entertainment. Not too shabby for a quick stop in Curry–I mean Murray–Hill.
The guys that worked there were friendly and smiling at us through the window. And we did happen to be walking around Curry Hill on the hunt for Indian Food… So we went in.
The ambiance is fast-food-y… But the food delivered.
I had some kind of combo with rice, naan, and two vegetarian dishes. One was potato based and the other was chickpea based. Both full bodies, tasty, compelling flavors that had me thinking about returning the following day.
I like Curry in a hurry. It's not a super swanky place, and when I first visited I wasn't sure they even had a dine in area. If i'm in the area I will stop here for a quick bite, but it's not the type of place I'll go out of my way to visit. I normally get the tandoori salmon and the naan. I think only once has it ever been a little dry. But the naan is always solid. Service is friendly and quick and the prices are affordable.
Don't mind my not knowing how anything is actually and truthfully named, I can tell you though that it was delicious!!
The place is like a cafeteria, you chose the formula you want downstairs, and you bring your tray upstairs.
I got the spicy chicken something and I loved it!! I also got the creamed spinach as a side, delicious. I got to try my friends dishes: the tikka masala -awesome; the mixed roasted veggies were great, I also like the cauliflowers. I thought the naans were delicious, fluffy and light, great for dipping in all the delicious sauces and flavors at the table!
You can also get to the salad bar and serve yourself the fun dipping sauces that traditionally came with your Indian food deliveries! The green one, the red one, the creamy one.
Haha, I know, this review kinda sucks because I have zero idea what I am talking about. I loved it though, the lady downstairs was so sweet, the people working there were very welcoming, and the amount of food you get for the price you pay is unbelievable!!!
I don't know what to say. The food was OK. The service the most unfriendly person I have met for a long time and certainly one of the slowest. They use plastic cups to serve their drinks and styrofoam plates for the bread. Don't use the restroom, except you really need to. I am not from NYC but I suppose there are much better places in little India to experience Indian cuisine.
The name is pretty self-explanatory! Order downstairs from a selection of classic Indian dishes, and go upstairs to find a salad bar and dining tables. The line situation was a little confusing but the service was friendly and helpful. Step outside and you can watch the naan being freshly baked through the front window!
