  1. Decent food, somewhat pricy for this part of the Heights, but a welcome addition for this area.  Any sort of Korean food is welcome here.  Warning though; ramen here is pretty much cup shin ramyen, so not at all worth the price.  Rest of the food is pretty solid though.

  2. A Korean joint kind of sticks out like a sore thumb in this section of Washington Heights. Still, it's enough to catch your attention and draw you in when you just can't stomach any more Dominican food, Chipotle, or Wendy's when it comes to a quick workday lunch.

The small menu is dominated by bulgogi, Korean fried chicken, Spicy Squid, and ramen (for only $7!). Still, the bulgogi is rich and flavorful. A random side note: their cole slaw is AMAZING. Who would have thought some of my favorite cole slaw would come from a Korean place? Ha! It's loaded with fresh dill; I could eat an entire bucket of it, no shame. In addition, my bulgogi is always served on top of French fries, which I can't quite explain, nor can I complain about. Haaa.

This place is a gem with great food and a lovely and friendly staff. As I mentioned, it's a great alternative to the same ol', same ol' that's in this section of WaHi.

  3. This place is for take out. It can seat 6 at counter style seats.

There are very few choices in this neighborhood that I love this place for that reason alone. A quick soup or bulgogi goes a long way if you have been eating Dominican and diner food for days!

  4. 5 stars really? In washington heights really? I would eat here everyday and I pretty much already do after a long day's work, I deserve it…..

Whole in the wall, unassuming asian oasis in a sea of domincan and mcdonalds and wendy's (not that there's anything wrong with these).

    I've nearly tried everything there:

#Gogogi chicken – this is a must get when you first come here, essentially korean fried chicken to the likes of bon chon with rice and sauteed veggies, kimchi radish. and delicious aoili to accompany the chicken which comes in spicy and garlic.

#Next spicy pork or spicy squid — pretty spicy just the way I like it, great flavors and cooked perfectly, you can tell the flavor have been marinating for a while. And again the mixed onions and veggies are a great accompaniment.

#Kalbi –  equally as good as the dish mentioned above, but comes with fries? not sure about this one

#not yet tried the bimbimbap….and afraid to try the ramen but perhaps one day.

OVERALL – haven't yet had a bad bit of food here.  And as an added bonus, they owners are really nice, looks like a family run business. They deliver as well.

  5. Love this place. With so little diversity of food in the area, it's so nice to have a Korean option. The bibimbap is really yummy. The food is fast (it's a carryout joint) and affordable. Doesn't get any better! After reading these reviews I think I'll try the chicken tomorrow…

  6. Yum! Got some dumplings, and tried some of the bibimbap. There isn't any other Korean food around so this place makes me happy! In comparison to other Washington Heights food offerings, this place is a little pricier for how much you get but I think its worth it. Wish they offered dolsot bibimbap but since the place is so teensy and who gets take out dolsot, it's understandable that they don't.

  7. In an area mired by Latin/Dominican food.  Its hard to find a place offering alternatives.  I must say that being Korean I am a snob for Korean food.  GoGo-GI is what I would categorize as cheap fast food.  The type of fast food that you would find in the street vendors in Korea.  Cheap fast and filling.  I was initially impressed by the reasonable portions of meat that you would get at the place but as time went on the quantity of meat has gone down significantly.

Consumers aren't stupid we notice.   Pretty soon less and less people are going to order from GoGo-Gi.  From weeks/months they have been skimping on the main dish and doubled up on the rice.  So much so that my fellow colleges have and stopped ordering from them on principle.  It has gotten to the point were it is not worth the price.  4 strip of meat for 8+ bucks.  Meh!  sorry GoGo-Gi your decent but not that decent.

$10.00 min on credit card purchase.

  8. This place is solid! I used to order from here all the time with my co-workers, but when I quit my job and left the country for two months, I forgot all about it! A few weeks ago, while bemoaning the sad state of food within walking distance of Mailman, Josh K. asked, "What about GoGo-Gi???"

GoGo-Gi??? How could I forget? Crispy chicken, delicious sauce, and way more food than I need to eat in one sitting! Being library-bound because of finals week, I decided to get it delivered. With an $8 minimum for delivery, I ordered a large ganjang chicken and an order of assorted mandu. My other study buddies had either already gotten lunch, or had lunch plans, so no one else could partake. It was all the food, all to myself.

Except when it arrived, I couldn't keep it to myself. I had a bite of the chicken, moaned a little, and offered some to my study buddies. One of them was pretty pissed off that he'd already picked up food from Shangri-La. When I finally got through most of the chicken and had a few dumplings, I couldn't do it anymore. I gave him the rest, while I patted my brand new Korean fried chicken food baby.

Their large chicken now comes with vegetables (which it didn't before!). I'll be eating more of you in my last semester, GoGo-Gi!
