  1. MAN. THIS PLACE. I had never heard of it, nor do I ever frequent this part of Queens – but I stumbled upon this place 2 days ago and have now been here two times, lol. I was in town because of Jury Duty at the Jamaica Center Civil Court on Sutphin and during my lunch hour I was craving a dark place where I could eat and be anti-social for a bit. To be honest this is the only bar I could find, but I didn't feel at all like I was settling.

My first visit here Neil was running the bar and he was sweet as pie. I asked if they sold food and he pulled out an impressive collection of menus and offered delivery. I went with a nearby Chinese place that he suggested that was a little farther away than the place 2 businesses over, but he said their food was better so I took his suggestion and was quite pleased.

Their are no beers on tap here but they had a good selection of mainstream beers in bottles and cans. I went with Guinness in cans both times because…well…when in Ireland? Lolz. They also poured it correctly. Two thumbs up here.

Speaking of Ireland, Maloney's really is your quintessential Irish pub. On my second day here I got to meet the owner, Pat, as it was his shift at the bar. He's a HUGE Yankees fan and he walked me through the various Yankees and Irish memorabilia that had been gifted to him over the years.

They have a huge piece by the door that's a black and white print of the 1951 Yankees and was actually a piece from the old Yankees Stadium. AWESOMEPANTS. But Mets, Giants and Rangers fans, there are also some fun things here for you guys as well – mostly pennants and baseball caps proudly displayed in the main bar area. But yeah, LET'S GO YANKEES!!!

Even though I was feeling kind of despondent and anti-social both days, this is a bar filled with super friendly locals and regulars – as friendly as they were, they were also respectful. On my second day (yesterday!) 4 different people tried to buy me a drink. I kept saying I was good, but finally I relented when I saw that someone had a bottle of Cherry Coke being used to whip up Jack and Cokes. Ever had a Jack and Coke with Cherry Coke?! This wasn't my first time (I've also done it with Dr. Pepper, not as great as with Cherry Coke, but not bad!) but it's been awhile and it was on the house thanks to one of their regulars.

I also met a court officer here who had been working in the courts for over 30 years. Also found it amusing that LOTS of the men here were drinking red wine. In an Irish Pub? Makes little sense to me, but whatever tickles your pickle I suppose. This is a no judgements bar and they serve beers in ice cold pint glasses. Solid. I enjoyed my time here and would totally return. Say hi to Neil and Pat for me should you decide to stop by!
