  1. It's hard to beat Bronx pizza. Is it the water that makes Bronx pizza stand out from the rest?

Fresco is a pretty big pizzeria/ restaurant. The slices are perfect. The crust, size, sauce, cheese….everything about it. The "Grandma" slice is off the heeeeezy!

My only issue? The Yankee memorabilia all over the walls. How about some Met stuff?

Anyway, Fresco is what defines authentic Bronx pizza.

  2. During our short stay in the Bronx, we were happy to have stumbled on this restaurant thanks to fellow Yelpers. The staff was friendly and food was good! We got a medium pizza for around $11 and a salad. They even brought out complimentary bread and butter (if dining in). The sauce on the pizza was delicious and really what made this place four stars. We would have preferred a bit crispier (and less doughy) of a crust, but I'm sure you can just ask for it that way.

  3. This place is a staple in the neighborhood. It is the best place to eat for blocks and blocks. Everyone knows it, everyone comes here. The people here are friendly and work hard to earn your business, day after day, and they don't have to. People will flock to Fresco (or "Fresco's" as the locals call it).

The garlic knots and pizza bites are cheap and phenomenal. The wheat bread slice is also one of my favorites. I also have regularly ordered the barbecue chicken and hot wings chicken slices. But most of all, I've eaten the good ol' fashioned pepperoni slice. Take a few extra napkins cause the thing is deliciously greasy.

  4. I rely on Yelp a lot and usually Yelpers are spot on with their reviews. But this is one time I think my fellow Yelpers got it wrong. On my visit, Fresco pizzeria in the Bronx did not live up to its 4.5 star rating. First off, there was a panhandler outside door wanting my spare change- when I told him I didn't have any he said he would wait for me when I was done breaking my paper money for dinner. Great now I have to worry about someone waiting for my change right outside the door. I was expecting authentic Italian food- nope- the pizza slice was old and cold and had a stale taste- like it was cooked 8 hours earlier. I also had the lasagna- all noodles with a slice of mozzarella cheese on top. The slice of lasagna  I was served had no- I repeat- no ricotta cheese- all noodles that were brown in color and soggy in texture. I could not finish it- however the red sauce was good and it came with a hoagie roll. The neighborhood is a dump, the place smells of something old and moldy, and the food is not authentic Italian (more like "Italian" food made in the Dominican Republic )What keeps my review from a one star is the red sauce (very good) and the price- very reasonable prices (but you sometimes get what you pay for.) Will never return.

  5. This is a place I've heard about for awhile as one of the few decent pizza options in the Bronx outside of Arthur Ave.  It is owned by the same people as Gaby's in Hollis Queens, and serves a similar pie.  Gaby's is a very polarizing place, and thus I expected more of that here.  While I can defnitely see the relation, this place was a much simplier verdict.  To me, it just doesn't quite stand up.

We ordered a pie to be delivered to our office.  Granted we're a 10-15 drive, but what we got was not anything exceptional.  First off the crust was underdone, which combined with the steaming in the box left the pizza quite soggy.  The sauce was very sweet–just like Gabys–but the cheese was good even though it was applied with a heavy hand.  Nobody who tried it thought it was anything above average, and I agree.  It was edible NY style pizza–no more.

Would I try it again?  Only by the slice and in person.  Will I go out of my way to do that? Nope.  While this is good for the Bronx, I'm better off driving down Hnts Point Avenue to pick up at Fratelli's.

  6. So my girlfriend and I were looking for a good pizza shop all week! We found his hidden gem on our last day in the Bronx. There were about 10 firefighters going in and we thought it must be good. The outside door was double so the nice ac air stays in. There is plenty of seating. We got a medium pepperoni pie, with2 sprites. It was about $16 which was really good because we got a pie. The pizza was soooooooo GOOD! I was sad that we didn't find this place sooner! It's really nice in the inside, they have a lot of cool pictures up on the walls and the customer service was GREAT! If you are ever in NYC check this place out its worth it! Wish I could have some now!

  7. I visited the Pizza place, on a friday night, very crowded but well worth it.  The place is clean, and the staff was great.  I got that history feel when sitting down, nice tv to watch sports, but the food is fresh, no heat lamp here.

I have to say this is by far the best slice of pizza I've ever had.  I will definitely go back when in the Bronx to dine in again.  Well worth the visit.  Amazing… GO

  8. I can't tell you how long it took us to find a good pizza place in New York! And who knew it was a block away from my girlfriend's mom's apartment?? We were in NY for a week. I kept hearing how I was going to have great NY pizza while we were there. We looked high and low and almost always found cheap $1.00 slices that looked terrible.

FINALLY, her step-dad told us about this place. As soon as we walked up, a whole truck load of fire fighters were leaving with orders. And soon after that, another truck pulled up! If FDNY likes it, then it must be good!

We ordered a whole pie with pepperoni. Took a bit, but it was worth the wait! The best pizza the whole time we were in NY! Prices were reasonable, too. I wish we would have had more time to come back again!
