Had a good experience here! We were looking for a cheap happy hour bar and stumbled upon this place. Tues special $4 blue moon and bud lites; half price potato skins; $5 for a glass of house wine. I believe I saw Monday's are half price wings. It was around 5:30 when we walked in and pretty dead. Like most restaurants you could only get the happy hour deals at the bar. However there were plenty of seats. Food and drinks were served quickly and the noise level was fair (you could have a convo with your neighbor without screaming). If you want a cheap happy hour with decent bar food, come here!
Had a great Friday night at Blaggards. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating. There's a jukebox in the back and plenty of tv screens. They have a full bar and a good range of beers on tap.
Typical Irish themed Midtown bar. Long bar, plenty of seating. I did not try for a count on the taps – but probably twenty. Lots of craft beers – thankfully I did not see Bud or Bud Lite. Several hightops. Background music was set high enough to listen to – a good rock/pop selection – current stuff, not oldies.
Bartender at lunch was friendly, professional. I had a Goose Island IPA and the beef stew "special" – which is apparently "special" five days a week. Cheap, good sized serving, you will not leave hungry. But if you want a really good beef stew go over to Molly's on Third Ave.
Limited number of small flat screens.
A few doors west of Fifth Ave so convenient. I need to try more of the menu.
Someone said that this place might qualify as a dive bar – nope.
Should have known better. As we were headed back to our hotel, with two hungry kids In tow, we decided to stop for food and drinks. It's a bit slower over this way then in time square. This is exactly what we were looking for. Before coming in, we learned about the rating system for restaraunts in New York City. A is the best you can get it, b and c are lower. Upon walking in, we noticed the sign said "to be determined". Yet, with two whiny kids we still went in. This is where I say we should have known better. I immediately checked into yelp, & saw the poor ratings. We ordered drinks, vodka and Guinness, and those came quickly despite a long time to get our server to acknowledge us. We ordered, and the food came quickly. Remember those two hungry whiny kids I had? Well, one had a rubbery chicken tenders delivered, and would not touch them. The other had a completely burnt hamburger delivered. Needless to say, neither eat either one of the orders. I mentioned the chicken to the waitress, and she said she would comp it. After pleading with my other son who wouldn't eat his burger, I tried it. It was so burnt that after two drinks I still have the burnt meat taste in my mouth. I told the waitress, and she said I'm sorry but I already comped the chicken. Apparently, When you choose something crappy on the menu, you can only be comped for one less than par meal. So, we ended up paying full price for a burger that had one bite out of it. Extremely disappointing, the waitress said I'm sorry, but I think we're the ones that are more sorry that we chose this place. The music was good, the drinks were good, but Thats as far as I would go. Last thing, as the waitress came up to give us our bill, she had a bottle of Windex in her hand and a rag. From reading the previous reviews, it sounds like that rag that she uses to wash tables is the rag she uses to clean her shoes. Hopefully the money I spent, wasted, will save you some money. There are many Irish pubs always in the same area, I would choose another.
A big plus for lots of seating and yummy nachos and ok fish & chips. It's just your typical Irish bar in the area.
I came here with my coworkers to enjoy a couple of pints after work. I was among the last group to arrive and the hostess was gracious enough to move our group to a bigger table. Unfortunately, that is when the "good service" ended. My coworker ordered cajun cheese fries but were given regular fries. It took them almost an hour before they made the correction. I, on the other hand, was never even able to order. I tried getting our server's attention at least three times and she ignored me while spilling my coworker's beer on him. I am not sure I would go out of my way to come here again.
Cute place. Food is tasteless. Unbelievably wack. Goooood drink specials. Great space!
My friends and I ended up at Blaggard's for a world cup game because one of us couldn't get into The Australian. No biggie. Easy enough to get into Blaggard's. The crowd was a little weird and a little too quiet. Some of the people were too old and some looked homeless. But in general, it was decent. Decor is outdated as well. Happy hour specials available til 7pm daily. I got the calamari and it was too salty. TVs everywhere is nice but if you're on the side of the bar, you'll strain your neck watching the game.
