Best take out pizza in the neighborhood – hands down.
This is a saucier pie than most which is what I love about it. The dough is chewy and the cheese runneth over.
Yo! Another member of the family represented in the name of a pizzeria, what an incredible shock! The good thing is, this time, I have only positive things to say.
(Uncle) Francesco's pizza is affordable, delivery is fast and the most important thing: the pizza is really, really damn good. As in mother effin' delicious. As in, please save me from eating the entire pie because I'll hate myself in the morning, good.
Oh and do try the garlicky broccoli rabe. Really, do it! It'll make you less likely to eat the entire 'za and it's way healthier for you.
Thank you, Uncle Frankie from saving me from having to hit up Uncle Sal again (he can keep his lousy pizza). You're up there with Cousin Vinny, hell, even better, though I think he's a cheaper pie. Anyway, he's further away from where we needed him the other night.
Francesco's is an okey-dokey little place with A-OK food. The thing I like best about it is the service. The guys are really really nice.
Hands down the best meat balls I've ever eaten, and the red sauce almost mirrors the sauce that took my breath away in Florence. I could just eat the red sauce and bread for days, but add the appetizer meatballs and a loaf of bread for $6, and it's the best meal around Carroll Gardens for a decent price. The 20 minute delivery also is amazing. I am grateful that I live in Francesco's neighborhood, though I should probably stop ordering the bread for my Paleo diet.
3.5 stars, This place is the definition of average. Everything here is OK, nothing gross and nothing exceptional, just huge portions of cheap decent Americanized Italian food in a pretty clean location in a beautiful area of Carrol Gardens. Almost everyone here (especially in the kitchen) is Mexican which is pretty common nowadays so I wouldn't expect any unbelievable Italian fare to come out of the kitchen but I'm sure I'll be back next time I have a hankering for some cheap pasta or something.
Francesco's isn't amazing, but it's a good local spot for a basic slice. They also have a pretty good eggplant parm on a seeded roll, and some interesting slices. I recently had a vodka slice with really good sauce, and a serious layer of cheese hiding under the sauce. I also liked the broccoli spinach slice. They have manahattan specials here which I love. There is plenty of seating, and an extra room although it is more of a 'to-go' place for me.
I enjoy the tip jar labeled 'retirement fund,' almost enough to tip. Almost.
grabbed a couple of slices here that were better than layla jones i had the day before. not a place i would really eat in at but definitely did the job for some pizza on the run.
Another super-solid pizza joint in Carroll gardens. Great pie throughout the menu, but the Sicilian squares are killer, in part because the olive oil soaking the dough was so tasty. I've also tried the regular slice. It's good, but the others are much better.
A special note on service. We sat outside on a nice sunmer's day. The lady serving us fell in love with our baby, helped amuse him, and even brought him a little treat. That's the kind of place this is. An old school vestige of the Carroll gardens that was.
