  1. Korean restaurant laid out in a very standard korean restaurant way lol. One of the Korean restaurateurs with better service, designated guy that clears plates, refill water, and refills banchan.

3 of us so we ordered the 3 person set of stir fried soondae and pork bone stew. Ended with 2 portions of rice. Totally filling. Fyi, first 4 or so bottles of soju are 6 bucks, great deal.

The stir fried soondae with veggies and noodles are delicious. Integrity of soondae is great too, easily survived the physical traumas of being stir fried. Had ones that fell apart before, but not a single one here. Flavor is great, can taste the individual ingredients instead of having an overwhelming sauce dominate the dish.

Pork bone stew was the main reason why we were here. Again great flavor where spices, mild sweetness of veggies and bone stock all stood out instead of a giant salt bomb stew. Don't let the name scare you off as well, lots of meat on the bone.

Only thing that was a let down was the rice to finish off the stew (where rice, sesame oil, tobiko, scallions, sesame leaf and seaweed is stir fried with the left over stew). I listed those ingredients cause those seem to be the standard bowl that would come out when ordered. However they over filled with extra carrots?!!?! The carrots totally dominated the flavor profile and texture.

  2. Gotta love the gamjatang here, they are one of the best around! I ordered the Kimchi gamjatang (#3 on the menu) to share, which was plenty for 2. The soup base was thick and hearty, and full of flavor from the pork bone. Once the soup is brought to a boil, it takes about 5-10 minutes before it is ready to serve. I prefer mine cooked slightly longer to allow the starch from the potatoes to break down, making the soup thicker. The menu has many items that I didn't get to try, I noticed that there is also jokbal; will definitely come back one day and try it.

For those who drink, the soju here is 4 dollars a bottle, which is pretty much being sold at cost.

  3. It was late at night and Mr. Tofu was closing so my boyfriend and I decided to go next door. I yelped it and it said they served soon du bu also, so great. I know this place is not known for their soon du bu… but still… You do not have to make it look so shitty. We did not have enough soup and our pot was barely full.. It was not a great experience. We got the seafood soon du bu.. and there were barely any seafood. Only seafood I actually recalled was the imitation crab sticks. I was pretty disappointed.

However, the server was really nice. He came over to make sure we understood the menu and asked if we had any questions. I guess our expression looked confused, haha. Maybe I should come back and try what they were known for (Gamja Tang).

  4. Food was great and the sides are great as well! In fact, I particularly enjoyed the salad thing and sardines they had for the side in which was very flavorful! The staff seem pretty nice, but my ONLY complaint would be that the lady got my whole order wrong because she didn't speak English. I asked for a BEEF soondubu and NO ONIONS but she gave me seafood soondubu with a lot of onions. I was surprised because you'd think someone would speak English especially when you're in Queens and will most likely be getting English speaking customers. I was kind of bummed out about that, but nonetheless the food was tasty. Also, make sure you tell them how spicy you would your food, otherwise tears will be running down your poor face.

  5. My party was searching for a hearty dinner after a failed attempt at our original dinner spot. Thanks to our helpful Yelp app and our most trusted sensei, we landed here. Here's a tip: there is a parking lot located in the back!

We got the Geo2 + Gamja Jeun combo for two people to share amongst the 3 of us. We were going to go for 3 people share but the waitress told us that it is more than enough food for us. She was right and we definitely appreciate the honesty! This combo came with Muk Eun Gi Gamja Tang (pickled nappa cabbage w/ vegetables and pork loin casserole) and Yet Nal Gamja Jeun (Korean style potato pancake). Muk Eun Gi Gamja Tang had a stunning presentation. It came with a table top burner and it is cooked right in front of us. The stew was very hearty and packed with spicy flavor. Pork loin meat was super tender and comes right off the bone. Pickled nappa cabbage, bean sprouts, bok choy, and enoki mushrooms. I got purple rice (brown rice) with the stew and it was the perfect combination. The potato pancake that came with the casserole was soft and crispy on the outside. It was good with the spicy, soy sauce that came with it.

Banchans include kimchi, spicy raddish, fishcakes, bean sprouts, marinated mackerel, and seaweed. Free refills, if you want more!

Overall, awesome service with warm, hearty food for the soul!

  6. I usually come here for gamjatang which pretty much means potato soup, but I've always had it as to-go. It is always delicious when I bring it home and it is enough food for my family to last us for 3 days.. Their servings are huge.

Today, however, I came here with 2 of my friends for dinner. It was my first time getting it to-stay. We ordered jokbal (pig's feet- sounds gross I know, but it's good for you with all the collagen) and gamjatang. Both for 2 servings. Even for 3 of us, there was so much food. I ended up packing it to go.

The banchan here is very good. They had a variety of banchan. There was potato salad, spicy seaweed laver, kimchi in the radish form, o-deng spiced, eggs, etcetc. They also give you hand cleaning wipes for you to wipe your hands before/after/anytime.

The servers were ON POINT. My cup would always be filled with water (barley tea water) and they would bring napkins to us without us asking, they even put the potato soup in serving bowls for us. They came to ask us if we needed anything- not in a annoying way. And we weren't even the only ones there. It was pretty packed.

    Now to the food:
    1. The jokbal
We had it as spicy. It was spicy but I couldn't stop eating it. It was my first time having it. I'm not a big fan of trying things, if I know what it is. Ex- pig feet, chicken feet, frogs… Turtles.. You know the deal. It was interesting. Having it spicy made me forget where the food came from. One of my friend had the non-spicy one and she preferred that but I couldn't get myself to eat that 😡
    2. Gamjatang
Hands down, best gamjatang in flushing is here. No need to look for it anywhere else. Even the store's name has gamjatang. It is perfectly cooked with potatoes, meat, mushrooms, peppers, and other sorts of vegetables.

Parking is relatively easy to find. Lots of street parking, if not, turn the corner and there is residential parking. If you're ever in the mood for gamjatang, go-to-place.

  7. This is a small authentic Korean restaurant that specializes in their casseroles/stews, which is cooked in front of you on a large pot when you order the bigger sizes.  This is great especially on those colder days in the winter!

I came here with a group and we definitely enjoyed our time here.  First of all, I'll say that the Soju here is cheap, just under $5 a bottle (max I think is 5 bottles).  So like I said, we enjoyed our time here.  Anyways, for appetizers we got the seafood pancake.  What I liked with the pancake is that it has a good amount of seafood in it, more than when you get it at most restaurants.

For our pots, we got the Geo Si Gi Gamja Tang (pork loin and vegetables ) and the Busut Janchi Bulgogi (beef with mushrooms and vegetables).  The pots were brought to our table to be cooked/stay warm.  The service was great that they would divide the soup for us in our bowls while we just all ate and hung out.  Both dishes were good but I would say I enjoyed the Gamja Tang more.  The pork added a nice richness to the soup which can be offset with all the vegetables you would be eating (as you should!)

I would definitely come back again to try some other offerings!

  8. I'm always into korean food  and open to trying new places in flushing. I have a spot I frequent and I decided that I wanted to try something else. I went on yelp and searched for korean soups near Murray hill, queens and Geo Si Gi popped up. I went in and a few tables were already taken and everyone was having this giant pot with pork bones and potato sohp( gamja tang) so I decided to order that with my friend. We also got korean seafood pancake because that's always good. These two come in a combo for about $50 ish ( I believe)

Firstly, the gamja tang was very flavorful. A little spicy but the soup had a strong pork bone flavor. They also come with a bunch of veggies and a bunch of pork bones with meat. One whole pot without the seafood pancake ( cooked nicely and slightly with a burnt edge to make it extra crispy)  was a lot to finish but me and my friend loved it so much, we did eventually chow down everything. This always warms you up on a cold winter day.

Definitely a place I'll stop by every winter and fall season.
