  1. I would give this place 0 or negative stars if possible. Infact the owner should give people money to eat at this restaurant.

I Went here today for lunch buffet and gosh I have to say they deserve the title for THE WORST INDIAN FOOD BUFFET ever. I have never come across such a tasteless buffet in my life.
There wasn't much variety anyway but whatever they had tasted aweful.

Hariyaali chicken tikka was dipped in green color and was undercooked, more like dip the chicken in food color, boil and thats it.

The malai chicken tikka looked raw too and was very hard to chew

    Manchurian was soggy and starchy

Makni daal wasn't makhni and tasted ehhh

It took a lot of effort to cut Gulab jamun into half and texture was rubbery

The worst was paneer makhni. If I could describe exactly what it was I'd say paneer thrown in canned tomato soup

Lastly, mango kheer was like left over boiled rice thrown in mango lassi!!!

All the non indian people who think this is the authentic indian food and are giving 4-5 stars to this place, I am sorry to say you are mistaken. You guys need to try some restaurants in edison and nyc.

  2. Went here on a groupon for our anniversary dinner. We've been to Mausam in Montclair but this location is much bigger.

The service was excellent. You could tell that the server really wanted us to like everything, and she kept making sure we were happy.  We started with  Chennai Calamari, a sauteed calamari with curry powder. Yum!

I wanted something a little different from my usual and ordered the Murgh Kubani Apricot for dinner. It was a delicious chicken breast that was both sweet & spicy, and very plentiful. I wound up taking half home for the next day.

My husband ordered Lamb Rogan josh, one of his favorites, and he loved it. He likes spicy dishes and this was perfect for him.

We split an order of garlic naan, and still had a lot of it to take home. My husband decided he wanted dessert and ordered the mango ice cream with gulab jamun. I was too full and only took a couple of bites, but it was very good.

I really liked this place. They have a liquor license, unlike the Montclair location, so you can get your party groove on. There was plenty of parking, always a plus and definitely not something you can say about the other location.

  3. This is the second time I've been at this restaurant and the first time I gave them four stars because I wasn't happy with the service but this time the service was excellent.

We used a Groupon that cost $35 and got $65 worth of food which included the most delicious Australian lamb chops done in a delicious spice rub  and tandoori oven accompanied by roasted vegetables and potatoes.

The vegetable korma was filled with a medley of veggies swimming in theist decadent butter crime sauce.

We entered the restaurant at an early hour and were the only patrons in the restaurant for a time. I keep asking them when they're busy time is and they tell me they get lots of customers later in the evening and they host many banquets. I can see why this is a destination for a party!

Kudos to the chef and staff!!!

  4. Came about 6pm on a Sat evening and it seemed we were the only ones there except for a huge party going on in the private room. We took a seat at the bar because we got a free drink for checking in (Thanks Yelp!) and hoped in that time some more people would show up to build somewhat of an atmosphere. We spent about an hour at the bar chatting it up with one of the friendliest bartenders ever and I think only 1 other party came in at that time. I was starving so we just headed into the dining area.

We had a Groupon for a meal for 2 for only $30 that included :
One appetizer (up to a $9.99 value)
Two entrees (up to a $19.99 value each)
One order of bread or naan (up to a $3.99 value)
Two glasses of wine (up to a $6 value each)

For an app we got the Lamb Kaati Roll: Paratha rolled and filled with Potatoes, shredded cabbage, carrot, green peas, green chilies and lamb. Delicious and large enough to share. Seasoned wonderfully with just a little heat.

Entrees: Mausam Tandoori Platter Non Veg: Chicken tikka, lamb shikh kebab, a piece of tandoori chicken, hariyali chicken kabab. A large serving of assorted grilled chicken (only one small piece of lamb kebab) with dry seasonings, no sauce for those that aren't fans of it but seasoned perfectly with a kick but not spicy.

I got the Bhuna Gosht: Goat meat marinated in a special Curry sauce. Curry is a healthy blend of onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, spices and herbs. I can't stress enough that even if you like heat like I do (more than medium) tell them MILD. Thankfully the bartender warned me and said they go by Indian standards of heat so if you tell them you like heat, your inside might burn. I told them mild to medium and it was just at the point I could eat and enjoy it but it was HOT! Besides that the taste was superb! The large pieces of goat were very tender and the portion was very generous.

Garlic Naan: Breads cooked with garlic & herbs. 4 large pieces that were perfectly charred on the outside but still light and fluffy.

I wanted to try to cool my palate down with desert so I got the Kheer, the Indian rice pudding: Caramelized basmati rice & almonds, pistachio, raisins, cashews and saffron. Maybe I had a little too much wine but I don't recall any other nuts except for a little crushed pistachios on top but it was still tasty and did the job.

The place actually started to pick up about 8:30pm when it suddenly got crowded with lots of Indian families and couples, always a great sign. The service was friendly and fast and the space is clean and very pretty. This is def a gem in a dead area just off the ramp of the very busy Route 3. Worth another visit even at full price.

  5. Stumbled on this restaurant with help from Yelp. Had the buffet for lunch.

Buffets are bad when the food is good. I ate way too much.

An excellent selection of chicken dishes on the buffet. Included a soup, salad options and even two deserts. Would have like at least one lamb option. Vegetarian options on the buffet we limited but incredibly good.

Ambience is lacking but the taste makes up for it.

  6. This place surprised me! in a good way. Living in Jackson Heights, I'm definitely critical of Indian food. This place surpassed my expectations! During Hurricane Sandy, this restaurant used its food truck to help feed the people of Secaucus. My bf kept mentioning that we need to go back and pay it forward so we ate dinner there the other night.

The palak chicken and the fish tikka masala were delicious! We ordered it medium and it had the right amount of spice. Although the food was a little pricy, the serving was large so it made up for it! We will be coming back again! Thank you for such great service!

  7. Updated! I received a call from the restaurant the next day I placed my order.  She apologized for forgetting the utensils. I am very happy that they took my review and feedback positively and make the improvements where needed.  Great customer service indeed.  This is definitely a restaurant that does its best to satisfy their customer!

    Ordered Delivery Via Yelp app.

The APP is not accurate. It says no min order but at checkout, it imposed a $20 min order.  Why can't we get this right?

The food was good. Chicken Vindaloo, Garlic Naan and Pickled Veg.  The Vindaloo was good. Tangy and tomatoey.  The garlic naan came in a special keep warm pouch and that was cool The pickled veg was way too salty.  Overall, food was acceptable.

Delivery speed is pretty good. I was 1.5M away and it came in about 30-35 min.  So happy to see the delivery guy. Only later to find out, after giving him a fat tip, that there were no utensils in the bag…  Usually not an issue, but I was in the hotel.  No utensils in the room for sure.  So I had to go borrow some utensils from the kitchen.

  8. Came here on a Monday at noon for the lunch buffet ($9.95 per person)

Very spacious restaurant and extremely clean.

Naan was ordered for the table upon arrival. It was OK.

Meat dishes consisted of tandoori chicken, butter chicken, mint chicken, and chicken vindaloo.

My favorite was the tandoori chicken because each piece was consistently moist and tasty. The other chicken dishes were overcooked and dry, so I wasn't a fan. I liked the sauce on the vindaloo because it was spicy. I don't think I ever had mint chicken served at other Indian restaurants, so it was a pleasant surprise. I did like the taste of it, but again, the chicken was a bit dry. I don't like sweet flavors, so butter chicken is never a dish I enjoy.

Vegetarian dishes included cottage cheese dish, spinach w/ cottage dish, eggplant and potatoes, blackened  lentils, spinach soup, and pakora (fried vegetables).

It was nice to see eggplant as an option because I rarely see it at other Indian buffets. The spinach and cottage dish was nice to dip the naan. I wasn't a fan of the other vegetarian dishes. The pakora was cold and bland.

There was also a salad bar, rice, and desserts. I enjoyed the rice pudding!

After reading other yelp reviews, I thought the selection of food would be bigger. I was a tad disappointed when I saw what was offered. Overall, I thought the food was just mediocre.

I would have given Mausam 2 stars, but the waiter, Nick, was very friendly and patient, so I rounded up to 3 stars. He took the time to explain each dish, which was very nice of him!
