Very affordable for the location.
The sushi they served was pretty fresh.
The service was good as well.
I would highly recommend the salmon skin handroll (yummy!!!)
I would not recommend the spicy king crab roll as all you taste is the fried crush and not much of the crab.
Another thing I tried was the grilled squid. I was not a big fan of it as I'm not a great fan of the ginger flavor.

FYI: This place is chinese-owned. But who cares as long as they serve good sushi for such a low price.
I've only ever ordered delivery from Shinju II, and the sushi is consistently average. That being said, the prices really can't be beat, which is why I will keep ordering from here!
I come here for my sushi needs. They have several types of sushi, but I stick to the "basics" aka the ones I usually order. I order the spicy shrimp roll, spicy salmon, eel(occasionally) and boston roll. The spicy shrimp roll is terrific, while the spicy salmon and boston roll are pretty good. Honestly, the eel roll isn't that good to me. (I've had eel rolls elsewhere that were better). Anyway, this place satisfies my sushi cravings, so I'd recommend.
I got the lunch special chicken teriyaki and I was actually looking forward to a delicious meal. I disliked the salad, it was not good at all. The miso soup was not tasty either. The chicken though, was probably the only thing I liked. The carrots and snowpeas that came with my lunch special was cooked and extremely disgusting, I like my veggies fresh and uncooked! My boyfriend had the sashimi lunch special, which he didn't complain about so I guess that's one good thing about this place. The service was ok, can't complain. I think the only plus about this place is that it's affordable sushi but I wouldn't recommend coming here.
Eh… I don't know why I didn't trust my gut on this one, but after years of living in this hood and all of these decent reviews, I decided to get some takeout.
Ordered the tri-color sashimi, which comes with 3x salmon, tuna and yellowtail sashimi and a rainbow naruto roll (no rice, wrapped in cucumber) and choice of soup or salad ($18). The salmon was yummy, the tuna was chewy and still a little frozen and the yellowtail was straight up yellow around the edges and generally questionable. All slightly smelly (not good). The naruto roll was tasty and the miso soup was piping hot.
With much better sushi options in the area, I don't think I'll be back.
I really enjoyed my meal here. The food was fresh and quick. The service and prices were good. Sashimi and sushi were fresh, the rolls were all good, and the fried ice cream was delicious. The only thing I didn't really like was the teriyaki sauce on the grilled squid. It was just a little too much but the squid was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back.
Shinju is the first GF friendly Sushi Place I've found in Brooklyn!!! How many times have I sheepishly walked into a Sushi joint to ask if they have "Tamari Sauce", if their crab is made of "protein" or said the word "No Wheat" to be given a blank stare and felt ridiculous? Toooo many times folks. Too many times. Well, my search is over. Not only was I greeted with a knowledgable affirmative to the Tamari, but our server was extrordinarly patient despite their lunch rush and went through all the rolls I could not have. It was the best Sushi experience I've had in years. Shinju will certainly be my regular go to from here on out.
I think I've come to this place so often the waiter remembers my order before I even ask for what I want! Rolls are pretty cheap and so is the sashimi ($2.75 rolls, $1.25 sashimi). Both are fresh and I love that their rolls aren't over stuffed with rice. I usually order a salmon avocado roll (love their salmon here…which is also the reason I get the salmon sashimi) and spicy yellowtail without the crunch. Their spicy yellowtail is delicious! I'm fairly picky about how I like my spicy yellowtail made, but this place is amazing! For a person that orders sushi atleast 3x a week, price wise, Shinju doesn't put a dent in my wallet and fills me up with their lunch special 🙂 I would say, with tax, rolls come out to be about $3 a roll. Three rolls later, my stomach leaves happy! Can't say much about the service because I usually order takeout, but service for my takeout is quick.
