Trattoria Belvedere

“PS: Good spot to hit up at 7pm on a weekday evening when you have zero idea where to go and you're aimlessly wandering through Murray Hill.”

“As from so many reviewers have said, if you get the chance, order the osso bucco.”

“The room is nice, with exposed brick and candles and posters from spaghetti westerns and Sofia Loren films.”

  1. Came here for an office lunch. It might've been weird timing, because the restaurant was empty. The lighting is very dark, and the decor is elegant.

The restaurant is pretty pricey, but the service is great.

We shared the asparagus with brown butter and cheese (I think?). I normally do not like asparagus, but that was one of the best asparagus dishes I have ever had. I got the italian sausage with spinach, which was literally four pieces of sausage on a bed of spinach. But I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the best spinach I have ever had. It almost felt like I wasn't eating a vegetable. However, it got a little bit overwhelming towards the end, because it was a little too much spinach for one sitting. The sausages were nothing special.

He also gave us tiramisu on the house for no reason, and it tasted amazing. It was an intense 10 seconds, because that's how long it took for us to devour it.

  2. Every few weeks I get a craving for Trattoria Belvedere's Fettuccine Pesto and/or their Fettuccini Alfredo. I love both. They make it the real correct old school way, really heavy and yum.

They are very quick, at least with this dish and I am always very happy. And it is a nice touch the way it opens onto the sidewalk.

  3. We really enjoyed the Belvedere. We had the lobster ravioli, the salmon and a nice salad. The bread was very fresh. Service was excellent. The food was delicious and the resturant was cozy and comfortable on a blustery winter evening. Highly recommend.

  4. I really like this place. Pretty affordable, good food, and surprisingly easy to get a table. Last time we were there, I got the penne with mushrooms, tomatoes, and eggplant, and my wife got the carbonara — I was a bigger fan of mine than her's, but I liked both. We also got a burrata / tomato salad to start, which was very good.

This is a solid neighborhood place that is nice to have nearby.

  5. Love love loved this restaurant. We stumbled on Tratteria on the way home and immensely enjoyed the dinner. We had roasted asparagus with cheese as an app and the lasagna bolognese was awesome. I got the creamy sausage and pappardelle and finished every bite. They gave us tiramisu on the house. Epic; delicious and I will be back again.

  6. Amazing place! Great for a date night. Small, quiet setting with a very attentive wait staff. Please note, however, the prices on the menu listed here are completely incorrect. Essentially double all of them — which is more in line with what one would expect to pay in Midtown with this kind of food and  atmosphere.

My date couldn't decide if she wanted lobster ravioli or the cheese gnocci, so he said, he'd just give her half portion of each! The wine the waiter suggested was excellent and reasonably priced ($45). The burata/caprese was a lovely appetizer they put on two plates for us because they knew we were sharing. I had the shrimp pesto risotto — yum!! And they even gave us a dessert on the house.

Frickin' lovely date — High recommend.

  7. A quaint Italian Restaurant on Lex Ave..ordered the lasagna, it was very good..every part was seasoned and delicious…I would order it again. Came with the family, had a large group so do a reservation cause it a small place.

  8. I love Italian food from the Tuscany region. And if you're looking for a non-pretentious environment that really makes you feel like family (sorry, Olive Garden), head to Trattoria Belvedere in Murray Hill.

Everything here is made and served with lots of love and attention to detail. To start, we were served a complimentary Bruschetta E Pomodoro (Italian bread with tomatoes). The bread is crisp on the outside and just toasted enough to hold up the generous amounts of fresh tomatoes, lightly dressed in olive oil and pepper.

For appetizers, we ordered a couple of things. First, I had Mozzarella E Pomodoro (fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and basil). This was really great. The tomatoes are fresh, plump and flavorful, and the mozzarella is rich and creamy. The olive oil and basil all bring the dish together very nicely.

Next, I had their Grilled Calamari. The portion was generous, and the squid had a really nice char to it. I usually really prefer a nice grilled calamari as opposed to fried and breaded, so this was perfect.

For my entree, I had one of the specials that night, Yellowfin Tuna with sautéed spinach. This was really nice. The fish was seasoned very simply, letting the tuna shine and not get overpowered. I especially liked the sautéed spinach with had a really unique balance between crisp and charred and soft and creamy.
