Lovely, cozy fireplace in the corner, nice decor, friendly staff!
I started with the Onion Soup (Caramelized onions in a rich beef broth with aged Cheddar and Swiss cheese croutons) and it was wonderful, and larger than I would have expected! Delightfully cheesy!
The Baked Mac and Cheese (Cavatappi, chorizo, green apples, Cheddar, Gouda and Swiss cheeses topped with pistachio crumbs) was also lovely, and far too much for one person to eat! The chorizo didn't have the kick that I expected, it was almost more like little mild sausage pieces, but on the whole, still tasty.
Well – lunch is definitely a different experience here vs dinner.
Came for lunch today. Ordered the "BRIE AND ROCKET SALAD".
Description read:
Brie and Rocket
Arugula, fried Brie, toasted hazelnuts,
cherry tomatoes, red grape vinaigrette.
What I received:
Arugula, fried Brie, CAJUN PEANUTS with residual spices all over the salad,
cherry tomatoes, red grape vinaigrette.
I've been in the industry too long to know exactly what happened – "Hey we ran out of toasted hazelnuts" "What else do we have here with nuts" "lets grab these disgusting bar nuts that only drunk people eat and use em"
Really – who would eat this? All over a salad? I know I can't.
While the bartender was nice – she was a bit reluctant to take it off the bill. I did have to pull out the description to point out that it said nothing about this seasoning and I wasn't about to fight with her regarding the "peanut shaped hazelnuts".
…… Sigh. I really like this place – I hope it was just a strange instance.
Edited to add: I actually contacted management about my experience via email and never heard back.
