  1. Honestly this restaurant is rly good for going with a few friends (4 ppl max) and eating snack dishes. Don't expect to be blown away by their food.

Everything is about average except for their ramen. Absolutely disgusting. I took a slurp of the noodles and soup and pushed it away. It's so bland and it rly makes me wonder how ramen can taste this horrific. But their udon makes up for it. Not too shabby.

Their tempura order is definitely a thumbs down but their okonomiyaki was better than I thought.

You just rly have to come here without high expectations. After all, it is decent food for a 24/7 korean/jap pub.

Obviously though, this place will be packed on weekend nights so service is a bit all over the place.

My party of 3 ordered ramen, udon, 3 rolls, sashimi, okonomiyaki, tempura, salad, etc. We were starving. But all the servers would just drop off a plate and rush off and we're staring at it bc it's not ours and then he'd rush back and take it away and give it to the right table. Nothing was cordial and come on, the tables are small. You give us all our food at once and we rly had no space to eat. We were sitting at angles so as to not hit each other with our chopsticks. We probably would've had more space to eat if someone bothered to check on us and clear away all the empty plates. -Which btw, we did ask several times for someone to do.- But, apparently none of the servers were lowly enough to do such a menial thing… which is exactly how they looked when we asked. Shocked at us for asking.

All in all, this is an atypical of its stature.

  2. Came here for dinner.

    Pros:
    – Cute decor and a nice atmosphere for chatting
    – Pork noodle soup was a good size and tasted great

    Cons:
    – The takoyaki tasted great but it was so tiny for the price
    – The tuna tataki tasted like it came straight from the freezer – was not fresh
    – The salmon salad was disappointing – a couple pieces of salmon in a big bowl full of iceberg lettuce

  3. Had barely enough time to grab a bite before a Broadway show, but we were able to get a table in less than 5 mins at this establishment. I checked in with the Yelp app and we were offered an appetizer consisting of a couple cubes of tofu accompanied by smaller cubes of tuna and soy sauce. It was complimentary and so-so, therefore no need to elaborate much.

My wife and I both had the ramen with pork and veggies. My daughter ordered the udon which was quite good. The ramen was decent, but I was not overwhelmed by it. Flavor was somewhat lacking, but there were plenty of veggies and the slice of pork belly was substantial.

I've had much better ramen in NYC, but this place sufficed in a scheduling pinch.

  4. The food here is delicious. They have really nice waiters/ waitresses, fast service, large portions, and really reasonable prices. We all really enjoyed our food.

My only complaint would be the seating. They have backless benches that are pretty uncomfortable.

Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a free tofu salad!

  5. A little pricey, but so happy to have found a late night sushi place!!! Woohoo! Sushi very fresh and service good. A very nice find in the heart of Manhattan's Korean enclave.

  6. On a Saturday night, we walked in for a table for two and we were seated rather quickly. 10 minutes?

We had the DonKatsu and a noodle dish.

    Both were good.

    I'd go back again.

  7. The prices are a bit high for the quantity and quality of food that you receive. We dropped in on Sunday for some food and hot sake. The smooth and fragrant Sayuri sake really hit the spot, but the food that we ordered was mediocre. For example, the tuna tataki tasted like something one might find at a chain restaurant (subpar quality tuna drenched in sauce).

Our server did not bring us water or take our order until we had been sitting for probably 10 minutes, so that was frustrating.

I don't think I would come back for a meal, but I can see myself coming back for late night bites and drinks since HanaMichi is open 24/7.

  8. I read not-so-great reviews here, and I only saw the reviews after I had sat down to eat. So, having read the reviews, I wasn't expecting much. I ordered the lunch special for 14.99. I had the katsu and udon combo and I didn't think it was that bad as many have said. My eating portion is small, so I only finished the udon and packed the katsu home. The service is quick and the interior is nice. I didn't feel rushed as there weren't many customers. I wouldn't mind coming back here for the lunch special, but I would not pay regular prices for the meals. The katsu was not crispy and was instead a bit soggy. I enjoyed the udon though.
