The only thing that they serve here is their don katsu so don't be surprised if they ask you "how many" instead of "what would you like to order?"
You can tell by the food that the owners are in this business because they love what they do. The portions are huge.. It's like filled with love. Any other place they will give u the meat, salad and rice but this place is different. They came by to our table and kept playing with our baby and you can tell in their faces that they look so content.
The food is delicious.. It's tastes like home. With the cream soup that comes with it.. I not only like this place because of their food but the service and everything.. Just makes me wanna keep going back there.
Tip: you can get extra meat for $5 and extra sides like the dduk gochi and salad for $1.
Some of the best ddonkatsu (pork cutlet) around. There are better spots but this place has a great menu… Really just pork cutlet.
It has a homey feel so if you like that, then this place is nice. It's run by a husband and wife and the service is great. Most of the reviews cover the experience. Make sure you order some kimchi on the side.
Moreover, it's $10 for ddonkatsu, a bit of rice, corn, beans, salad w/ mayo/ketchup dressing, sausage, very small rice cakes and a slice of orange. Pretty complete meal and it's definitely one of my "go-to's."
The place is okaayy. The furniture is dilapidated; there aren't that many seats. The menu is hand written on a neon poster paper. It's relatively clean though.
There is only one item on the menu. The donkatsu itself is soft, not crispy at all. But it's served pretty thinly, which I liked. It comes with a salad, and other condiments. There's something homey about the meal, as if your best friend's mom made it for you because the dish is ordinary and not done to perfection. I think this is a good thing. So, don't expect anything fancy or amazing.
The waiter came by and asked in Korean, "one or two?" My friend asked if we could see a menu, the waiter said we serve one thing lol It's a small place but it serves one thing and serves it well. It's by no means fancy, it's a casual mom and pop kinda place, I don't remember there being much of a staff.
The food:
Donkatsu- it's either this or bupkis lol This is their one item. It's a good homey dish. The cutlets are slightly crisp since there is a sauce on top but the flavors are nice. yelp.com/user_local_phot…
I never really noticed this place before. What was quite amusing is that they have one item on the menu and they do a good job of making that one item. Donkatsu. I walked in to wait for my friend and all I was asked was "how many?". A bit confused I sat down saying I would wait for my friend before I ordered. As I sat there staring at all the writing on the walls is when I noticed that they only have just that. How strange… Good. Still strange. Worth checking out.
Best donkatsu ever!!!! Simple and easy. Plus, they give you such yummy sides. These places aren't appreciated anymore but this is the best kind (homely)!~
I love this place. If I'm in the mood for Korean donkasu I'll come here. It is the one of the few places that sells old school Korean donkasu. What is donkasu? It is fried pork cutlet that is covered in a Korean gravy sauce. They only have one menu…so you bet they do it well. You might not be able to tell from the picture, but that big plate of donkasu is filling. Along with the corn soup that comes out as an appetizer, the $12 (used to be 10 but it's still a steal) is so worth it. This is comforting food that will remind you of your childhood. If you think the portion of meat won' t be enough, you can order extra meat! They also to takeout or to go orders which is great.
I am all for these small family owned shops and hey, it helps that the food is pretty darn good as well.
This is one of the very few donkatsu places that I crave to come back to. The platter (as you can judge from the photos) are essentially what you're in for. The generous amount always fills me up without my having to ask for extra. The creamy soup they serve in the beginning is absolutely delicious – doesn't matter if it's store-bought or not. It reminds me of my childhood and I thoroughly enjoy that part of my meal.
Also, they try their best (and succeed) to bring out all the platters at once so not one person in the group will be left without one. The rice cakes also bring back a feeling a nostalgia for me. It's only a few pieces that come on the plate but you can always ask for more for only a buck.
The donkatsu platter is currently $11.99. It's not bad at all for a massive meal that'll fill you up and keep you full for a while. The meat is drenched in sauce which I love. It has a bit of crisp on the outside but is soft at the same time.
Also, the owners are so extremely kind. When they're busy, they can't cater to your every need – it's only natural because they're not omnipresent. So, please be a courteous adult and not whine like a baby just because they aren't asking how you're enjoying your food every so often. When they aren't busy, they do an exceptional job in service. They always smile and are very swift in responding to any request.
Everyone I know that has tried this place, love it just like I do. So I recommend you give this a place a shot if you haven't already and come with an open mind! Don't listen to the others that expect to be blown away by donkatsu. Because in the end, it's donkatsu we're talking about.
