  1. Cool Irish pub this place probably been here for awhile. The building outside looks like early 1900 and the decor inside have some really pictures hanging on the wall.  Ordered a ground sirloin with mashed potatoes and is tasted pretty good with the Brooklyn Ale beer. Service is excellent here.

  2. So far the nachos for an appetizer are a disappointment .   Cold and filled with water for some reason? chips are store brand chips.

So we just got the fish n chips and it was ok. For a bar that has all of the decor of a true Irish pub the fish n chips were par. Pieces were small and fish was a little rubbery. Chips were great but the portions we so small. A little disappointed over all.

Maybe we will try a burger next time. Or just go somewhere else.

The plus side was the side salad.  It was amazing. Nice job on the salad.

What's with the Italian dishes on the menu?

  3. Great little pub right by the train!  Nice little spot to catch a buzz before ya head into the city or when ya get back and youve been huffing glue the whole train ride home!  Quaint and has an Irish feel to it.  Mostly working class folks in here which I like.  No fu-fu drinks and stuck up people here.  Just some Guinness, whiskey and people who will actually strike up a conversation with a stranger instead of playing on their Iphone.  They have a dartboard in the bar area so ya dont feel out of the party if ya wana play.  Plenty of parking out back…spots in front are meetered.  Bathrooms are a ways down and have a nice "aroma"…after a few this can get a bit hazardous!  Check this spot out for sure.  There are a bunch of cool, corner type places in Bergen Co….but getting few and far between!  Fuhgeddaboudit…

  4. This is a good place for a cold beer and a decent burger.  Another nice point is a single lady can sit at the bar and get excellent service if you want to run in and treat yourself to a meal and drink.  I have never had anything else on the menu so I can't comment.

  5. MacMurphy's is your standard Irish pub conveniently located next to the Ridgewood train stop. Perfect for cheap boozing or a quick bite before shopping or a movie on Ridgewood Ave. or before heading into the city for a night on the town…at least that's what we used to use it for. These days MacMurphy's has become the default reunion spot for our high school crew when visiting home for the holidays and it realy is quite ideal; the drinks are no frills….a whiskey/guinness kind of a bar, more often than not the bartenders screw up my bar tab (in my favor), and it has that warm wood atmosphere that keeps you coming back. I can't speak to the food because this is more just a pre-holiday meetup location, the beer selection is limited but has some solid standard pours, and the people watching can be quite spectacular. When it isn't incredibly crowded with the crowds from RHS, GRHS, MPHS, and other surrounding towns, it is quite homey with a large circular bar downstairs, dimly lit alcoves, and an upstairs seating area for a little peace and quiet. I'm not sure why other reviewers refer to this as a "dive bar" because it definitely is not, it's just a smalltown Irish pub that doles out cheap drinks in a cozy setting with friendly patrons.

  6. Maybe it was tonight but it was dead. The jukebox was taken over by the bartenders? Who decided to not play requests. The end of the night the music got good as we were all ready to leave. Bathrooms are for two people at a time only but considering it was empty, that didn't matter. There is an outdoor seating section which is great for Summer nights. Someone even brought their dog! One of the bartenders was super chill which is nice when you compare this kind of place to a club or any spot in NYC. There was a dart board for entertainment as well.
