I had a huge craving for sushi, so came here today! The guy who makes the sushi fresh at the sushi bar is SUPER nice, highly recommended! Even though they're all Korean, the sushi they make is pretty good for a lunch spot. He was also super accommodating when it came to what I wanted and didn't want for the nigiri. He accidentally put in a few more pieces, but still decided to only charge me for the smaller portion, awesome service and very nice people!!!
It was alright. That's it. Nothing special.
Came here because a friend and I were on a time crunch, it looked cheap and sushi sounded good. Would I come again? Probably not. Is it cheap and does the job of filling you up? Yeah. Desperate for food and on a time constraint? Go for it
Had a sushi craving.. their selection for takeout is pretty basic. I got the spicy salmon roll for $5.72 total. Also got the seaweed salad which was ~$2.50. Prices for the other rolls were between 5.50-11.
There are 9 seats by the sushi bar if you eat in. Semi-small sized place. Extremely casual. Pretty much a get in get out kinda place.
The cashier was extremely friendly! She asked me about my last name and its origins haha 😛 she put a smile on my face.
Don't get the fried dumplings here (I don't remember them having steamed ones, which I generally prefer). They're very small, flavorless and the skin is much too thick to be an enjoyable dumpling. You're better off getting dumplings as a fast-food Chinese take-out type of place and I NEVER recommend those…lol.
The sushi/sashimi stuff is pretty good though if you go before 2pm and their deli stuff is your pretty good, yet average, sandwich offerings and such. But their bread it really good…I know that sounds weird, but I've also only been here twice and it is what it is.
Go here for deli stuff, sushi/sashimi if you're craving it badly and don't get the dumplings.
came right before lunch madness and ordered in the back for miso soup and shumai and sushi from the front. very odd setup but they do have dine in available as well. pricing is fair for location but nothing spectacular
A Chinese found Japanese bento prepared by Korean the best lunch option in tasteless Times Sq area… Do I need to say anything else? Oh, they have sushi, noodles, and many other options.
This place goes by several names. On my receipt, it says Sushi & Bento Box. On my credit card slip, it goes by Do Si Rak. On Yelp, it goes by Sushi & Deli Box. Whatever you want to call it, it's a decent place for lunch and a quick place to go to for dinner.
The place is fairly authentic and you do get a good value here. The staff is friendly. I ordered the budae jjigae and the beef udon soup. The budae jjigae was a bit disappointing. I came here for dinner so I'm not sure if they ran out of ingredients, but there was no spam or sausage in there. That's what makes a budae jjigae for me. A budae jjigae without spam and sausage is like having a girlfriend that's celibate. It's nice and all, but you kind of wonder 'what's the point?'
However, the udon soup was good. The broth was delicious and the portions were hearty for the price. If you stick with the classics like udon and bibimbap, you won't be disappointed. If you come here thinking that this is a sushi restaurant, you will probably be disappointed. I think the sushi here is pretty decent for this type of establishment, but it's all about expectations — keep that in check and you'll be fine.
My boyfriend and I needed a bathroom break but had to be customers, so we ordered a rainbow roll. Standard Asian food place. Nothing to rave about and nothing particularly great about it, but considering it was one of the only places open on NYE without a ridiculous cover charge, we couldn't complain.
