Fujiyama Japanese Restaurant

“I never ate at their restaurant before but it seems like a really quiet place with very little tables and chairs.”

“I highly suggest anyone looking for a great place to sit down or take out fresh sushi to swing by Fujiyama and enjoy this place as much as we do.”

“When my boyfriend and I go, we usually get a specialty roll, too.”

  1. It's been almost three years that I moved to the area and this has been my go to sushi when I'm home and too lazy to cook and/or pickup sushi since 13th Ave is not part of most restaurants on the strip of Bensonhurst or Bay ridge's delivery zone and I feel like 13the avenue lacks a variety of takeouts. But fugiyama has been consistent and extremely tasty. The staff is so respectful and nice. I've yet to have a problem with my order or food. When I do decide to walk down and pick up my order they are pleasant it never looks busy inside. I can not say how the dine in experience is solely a review on the delivery experience!

  2. Located in Dyker Heights, my family and I go there at least 3 times a month. The staff is always friendly and professional. The restaurant is clean. The food is great. The service is prompt. The edamame is fresh and perfectly cooked. Avacado salad is my favorite. The spring rolls/harumaki are delicious and the veggie gyoza is superb. Tasty California spring rolls and sweet potato rolls.

  3. I don't care what anyone says about this place, but just come here on a Friday evening or Saturday – the hoards of people waiting for take-out says something alone about the quality you're getting here.

Yes, this place doesn't have the OMG amazing decor that most sushi places have; it is just very average, and simple, but that's just because they put all their fancy skills into plate prepping your sushi!  Just sit at the sushi bar while you're waiting for your take-out for 40 minutes.  These guys are so artful in their craft that it is truly memorizing.  You'll not wait for these food in vain.

TIP:  If you order take-out, you will see significantly cheaper pricing in comparison to if you dined in.  This is something we noticed several months ago, and as newly weds, you need to save every dime!

    Our all time top favs:
    Crazy Dancing Kani Roll
    Rainbow Roll
    Spicy Scallop
Peanut Avocado – great palate cleaner

If you order out a certain amount, you get a free appetizer – a nice perk that you don't usually see all too often, especially for a sushi place.

Fujiyama will always be our go-to sushi place!

  4. The food here leaves something to be desired.  That something is called flavor.  I ordered the teriyaki chicken.  It was doused in sauce and still tasted bland.  I'm sure that defies some law of nature.  Just by default, something with that much sauce should have at least a modicum of flavor.  My boyfriend ordered some lunch special with beef nagamaki and a California roll.  His food was better than mine, but still not worth coming here for.  The miso soup we had before the meal was actually pretty good.

  5. I get sushi from this place at least once a week. I usually order the same thing – dinner combination: Alaskan roll, Boston roll & Philadelphia roll for $11.

When my boyfriend and I go, we usually get a specialty roll, too. They have weird names, so I don't remember what they were but one had a lot of crab and it's our favorite.

The service is fast and efficient. I've never had a problem with this place. The sushi is always fresh and affordable, so what more can I ask for?

  6. This spot is a very decent Japanese restaurant. I would recommend quick lunch or bento box take-out. The lighting is very dim here and it gives it a very romantic feel to the atmosphere. It is a very low key restaurant and it is almost always very quiet.

Sushi rolls here are not bad. They have the usual Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado, Dragon Rolls, and etc. on their menu. Perhaps, I spoiled my taste buds over the years by consistently having fresh fish from other places. Therefore, I cannot recommend this place for fresh sushi but I can recommend this place for bento box and other hot entrees such as the udon noodle soup.

    Overall, it is okay.
