This is going to be an interesting review. The location houses two restaurant that share the kitchen and small dinning area. Canteen Desi Dhabba (CDD) & China Spice (CS). I went for just their mutka biryani – however since I was ready for gluttony – ended up ordering their sweet corn soup (CS Menu), Kai Chi/ Drums of heaven (CS Menu), Vegetable Hakka Noddles (CS Menu) & the goat mutka biryani (CDD Menu).
Hina took really good care of me and every other guest in the small dinning area – while being constantly busy with a 100 other things – absolutely amazed by her multi-tasking ability – while making sure that all dinners were well taken care of!
Now the food.
*Sweet corn soup 3/5 stars lacked salt and was good but not really good.
*Drums of heaven 4/5 stars – crispy while well spiced and not drenched in sauce.
*Vegetable Hakka noddles 4/5 stars – took it to go and only tasted a spoonful before writing this review.
*Matka Birayani 5/5 – even the nan-used for covering was fabulous and I ate most of it 🙂
*Service 5/5 – Hina is awesome!
*ambiance 3/5 – this is not a dine place for everyone and is a little rough around the edges, if I know what I mean.
Looking forward to coming back again soon!
Had shrimp byriani and vegetable korma and requested MILD- the food is so hot it burned my lips!!!
Also the vegetable korma was short on substantive veggies– it Also contained TOFU!!!! I never asked for that and it isn't usually in vegetable korma.
The shrimp also had an odd taste, perhaps frozen or perhaps not fresh or bad.
Never again.
