  1. Came here with a group of colleagues for dinner a couple of days ago. Despite the diverse tastes and dietary needs, we all had plenty of dishes to enjoy.

The dining rooms very well done–tastefully decorated, comfortable with jazz playing (and not generic Muzak-style jazz, but Miles Davis, Bill Evans, etc.)

The chef's special goat was great. The waiter warned us it might be too spicy for us, but I only found it medium level; it built nicely. The baigan bharta was also lovely. I will definitely be back.

  2. I came here for both lunch and dinner. The mid-day lunch is awesome as its a buffet which is awesome and there is plenty of variety. The dinner on the other hand seemed to be way over priced and small portions. The food is just ok.

  3. Pretty decent food- but rich. We had a samosa chaat and chicken angaarey for starters and then keema mutter and maa ki daal with a bread basket.. Everything tasted nice but like I said, was rich, and so made everyone feel really full. We still went for dessert though!  Kulfi trio has some great mango kulfi, and cassata was an interesting dessert (nothing like the cassata of yore, if you think it'll be multiple ice cream flavors layered in cake and sprinkled with nuts!)
Service was pleasant but a little slow. I would have given this place three and a half stars, but since that's not possible, giving it 4 – benefit of doubt!

  4. The naan is fantastic, especially the cheese and garlic naan.  I don't really like okra but their fried okra is very good.  It is served room temperature but surprisingly it is still crunchy and more importantly not greasy.   My first time here for dinner and will come back again.  Service is friendly and attentive offering suggestions that a tasty.

  5. Solid 3.5-4 for this place.

I've interacted with Mantra twice in the last few years, both for delivery and eat-in.

For the eat-in option, I was actually here for a "party" where the family rented out the entire place. I was quite surprised at the space, and the fact that there was even a room downstairs where they were able to setup additional tables etc. The bar is also very well stocked and the cocktails are pretty good (and go well with this food). From this experience, I remember my favorite of the evening being the cucumber cocktail (not sure what was in it) and the lamb chops – delicious!

For the delivery, my only downfall was that it took quite some time on a Friday night. The prices were decent (slightly high, but OK) but worth it because the two dishes were absolutely delicious. Portions were just right as we shared an app and an entree, with some additional naan/rice on the side.

A number of my friends have also come for Happy Hour, as they have good deals for drinks/food as I hear. I'll try at some point to do this as well.

  6. I've been to Mantra once for a birthday dinner and am not sure I'm going to go back! The portions are okay, the food is overpriced & the taste is nothing to rave about.

Of what we tried, the Mint samosas and Banjara Kabab was good. The Kaali daal was decent, but can't say the same for the Paneer Pasanda which was pretty bland and on the sweet side. The Nanis Chicken Curry was also pretty decent.

The service was good and the ambience is excellent. If you're in the area and have guests or are in a group of whom many are vegetarian, Mantra will serve the purpose.  However, if you're looking for some amazing Indian food,  skip this place!
