I wish I had spent the two minutes to hop on yelp last night to read the reviews of this local Indian spot. I got into town much later than planned due to a delayed flight and the bottle of wine I had consumed, while delicious, was the only thing in my system other than about a slice of cheese and small piece of bread. And a few milligrams of something to take the edge off. Needless to say: I was starving and nothing is as good as Indian.
GrubHub has this place as the highest rated (4+ stars) nearby so I put together an ordered samosas, naan, onion chutney, palak paneer, curry chicken (boneless), a plain lassi and mulligatawny soup. The idea was so that my friend and I would have a good amount for dinner and also leftovers for today to snack on or for lunch or whatever. Getting into town late we had no desire to go to the market over the weekend.
The food was supposed to arrive between 8:30 and 8:40. I received no text messages from GH but at 9 something I checked the update on GH (app) and noticed that it was updated for 9:01 that they were working on it. Um, it should have been here at least twenty minutes ago!
The food was an hour late. The mulligatawny cover was broken but they didn't warn us so it made a huge mess when we unpacked the bags. The samosa were bland, the naan was good. The palak paneer was okay but the lassi was undrinkable because of the mulligatawny spilled into it. The chicken was good but after reading the reviews from others on yelp I doubt I will eat it. Sounds like this place is dirty, that there have been bugs in the food and that the problems I had with ridiculous delivery waits, messy packaging etc. are common. Won't get from here again… It's tried and true places and India Row from here on out!
