  1. Petite portions but works out fine.  Everything is made to order and tasty.  Standing counter only – which is great.  Need more restaurants to get on board this trend.

Octopus is always delicious.  Croquette is good.  Menu changes though and waiter usually gives good recommendations.

If you eat a lot, you might find yourself hungry after.  But I tend to believe we mostly overeat in the US, and this is actually the right amount of food for a meal.

  2. Found this weird spot (see below) after finding a deal on Groupon and then seeing Yelp reviewd it as 4.5*. That's a crazy good rating for a restaurant!

I read some of the Yelp reviews and saw it was standing room only, but had a different image in my mind. Instead of it being a space with some tables (what I pictured), it's a long narrow space with simply, a bar. It reminded me of a typical espresso bar in Italy, which is awesome. It was empty when we came in at 11:30pm on a Sunday night, but the guys behind the counter had no problem making us some food still.

It was way more casual than we thought it would be, but as we ate our meal we realized it was a really unique NYC spot and would be a great date spot before or after going to another bar.

I had the flank steak plate and got them to sub in pickled vegetables (not pickles as the menu said) for the potato salad. For $9, it was a great value and definitely a nice tapa, though not filling enough for a meal. Obviously.

My friend Dan had the beef croquette and a pasta dish. I tried both and both were pretty good. I wouldn't order the pasta, but Dan loved it and talked about coming back to get it again.

No hard alcohol, but beer and wine. $6 for all the beers, about a buck more than I expected.

Good, cheap-ish food and a unique place and nice workers (owners?) make this a 5* review. The end.

  3. Excellent food!!..The setting of the bar is pretty cool…you have to stand eating..there are no chairs for you to sit…and it is a pretty tiny place/bar….it is a intimate environment..the service is great b/c the place is small enough that u have a person/server in front of at all time….the portion is pretty small as it is a tapas bar so expect to over more than 1 dish per person..the price is reasonable..the food is really fresh and tasty..

We had total of 4 people and we ordered a lot of dishes..i would say all the dishes are great!!..and the sangria were great!…i highly recommend the dish with octopus risotto (daily special)…the octopus was so delicious as the the octopus is so fresh..soft…and the seasoning with its overall dish is soooo good!!!..risotto was cooked just right..

I would definitely come back again..and we used groupon we purchased to save us some bucks..

  4. This really cozy (and when I say cozy, I mean TINY) bar does not have any seats but can stand about 10-12 people. I think standing is a good idea anyways, especially if you sit on your butt all day at work. Standing helps oxygen flow to your brain and prevents you from falling asleep.

The food portions here are pretty much what you'd expect from a tapas bar. You certainly won't walk out of here feeling so stuffed that you hate yourself. Regardless, every plate is so good that you wish you ordered two or three of each. One of my favorites was the beef croquette, with it's crispy, flaky batter on the outside and a tender, juicy morsel of ground beef in the middle. During lunch, I hear they offer this as a burger… Well, why the hell not!?

  5. The small plates and daily specials all sound mouth-watering. I love their wine selection here. Service is bar none. It's great for a drink hop for the night as there aren't chairs for you to sit and linger. Fun spot. Tiny and friendly. I'll definitely be back!

  6. Bar B was such an incredible find in Chelsea- inexpensive, genuine, friendly staff and SUCH. GOOD. food. It is standing room only, the restaurant is basically just a narrow bar and if you stand towards the end you get to watch your food being made. It's mostly small plates. My boyfriend and I came without a reservation and they took us right away. At first I was a little weary of standing throughout dinner, but you don't even notice. Did I mention how inexpensive this place was? Highly recommended!

  7. The food was presented simply yet it looked very pretty and colorful. But ultimately, I think it looked better than it tasted.

The potato salad was decent, it was soft and smooth, and I think had the faint taste of tarragon. The skirt steak was more salty than I liked and I wasn't too fond of the marinade used on it. There were a few leaves of bitter raddichio under the meat.

The red pickled cabbage was ok, rather tart but crisp. The pickled cauliflower was crunchy and almost vinegary as well.

The octopus was too soft and overcooked, not chewy at all. It was paired with a colorful mix of cubed peppers, celery, and cooked kidney beans. The mix gave a good small crunch to the dish but didn't add much flavor.

The cuttlefish was white, soft and slightly chewy and potatoes with spears of green asparagus and green beans. It was slightly better than the octopus.

Bar B is a small, standing place dominated by the bar. You can watch the chefs at work while eating small plates and drinking wine or beverages. But I think the food doesn't live up to it's presentation.

  8. Cute little wine/tapas bar off 7th Ave in lower Chelsea! We decided to randomly stop by on a weeknight for a quick drink before heading out and I don't regret it at all. Nice selections of quality wines, a small tapas menu. Very cozy space and it's all standing along the bar – but that's what makes it stand out. Bartenders were friendly too.
