  1. We got two beef dogs – one Minh style (banh mi style, with housemade pate, pickled carrot/daikon, cilantro, jalapeño), and one Wangding style (Chinese BBQ pork belly & onions).

The Minh style was the better of the two.  The pickled carrot/daikon stood out and was light , tangy, and crispy. The pork belly on the Wangding was not good — lots of fat and just squishy.  The buns were disappointingly not toasty, and didn't contribute anything extra.

Wouldn't mind coming back to try the other topping styles, but wouldn't go out of our way to.

  2. Favorite hot dog place ever! Honestly I've never been to this location. I've only visited their stand when they're in Mad Square Eats.

The prices did go up since the last season there. It's $4 for a hot dog. I get the MASH which comes with potato chips on top of a dog (chicken, I prefer), spicy mayo and mustard. Yummmm!

  3. Meh. Run-of-the-mill buns and dogs with Asian toppings. I had one from Berg'n recently.

I got an Organic Beef Dog topped with Sidney, which is Thai style relish with mango, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, crushed peanuts, and fish sauce. It sounded good, but it was honestly kind of bland. I couldn't taste the mango; in fact the slaw as a whole was pretty flavorless. I think they forgot the fish sauce too because it was very dry. The one thing I did enjoy were the crushed peanuts; it added a nice element of crunchiness to the dog.

I like the concept of Asia Dog, but I think they could up their ante by ensuring the flavor is right on their toppings, and perhaps getting creative on how to give the bun and dog an Asian twist as well.

  4. Asian hot dogs? Sign me up cause I eat what I date!

I'm the kind of girl that's all about the meat, so the wangding was a no brainer for me.

Pork belly, where forth art thou? It's like you went through lipo and became shreds.

Chicken? Beef? Don't matter what kind of sausage you are cause it all tastes the same (unless it's the vegetarian one, that's a different realm we're talking about.)

Asia dog, you gotta try harder than that, you weren't even close to hitting the spot for me.  You didn't even have sauce to kick things up a notch. I came to you cause I wanted some exotic flavors but you were just any ol' regular joe.

  5. Tasty veggie dogs!! The Sidney was quite yummy, though I did doctor it up by adding half an avocado I had in my bag. Definitely will be coming back for my hot dog fix. Wish they were a little cheaper though. But I feel that way about all food in nyc.

  6. I love all the damn flavours in this. A hotdog with authentic asian toppings, a little on the high end of pricing but worth a try!
