  1. I owe a debt of gratitude to the staff of this glorious establishment. They were responsible for all the amazing food and good time that we had celebrating my wife's birthday. The sardines and burrata were one of the best I have had and the pastas were spot on as well. There is a large variety to choose from and despite having approx 15 people, almost all of us received our pasta at the same time.

I can't wait for my return visit. Thank you, Piccola Cucina Osteria, for making us feel like family.

  2. Piccola Cucina has got its Italian food game on point. With even a restaurant in Ibiza, Spain, and London, England, Piccola Cucina is doing something right. I came with my friend on a Saturday night at around 5:15 PM, so luckily, there were tables. I would imagine if you came at dinner time (around 6:30-7:30 time), you should have a reservation for a weekend.

FOOD: I got the pasta alle sarde, pasta with sardines. I could see how this dish is not some people's favorite, but growing up eating sardines and eating things that really taste like the ocean. Pasta alle sarde for me was perfect with a good salt content and the sardines were tender and great! The fresh made pasta? Delicious and of the right texture and consistency. You can tell that the freshly made pasta makes a world of a difference. I thought it was one of the best pasta dishes I have had in NYC. The presentation of the meal was good too being served in a large frying pan. I assumed they had cooked the meal within that pan, but upon further examination, it was not (you can tell by the lack of sauce on the side of the pan), which gives it that cool straight from the kitchen experience. With the kitchen being so close, say hi to the chef who made your meal!

SERVICE: Spot on and nothing was wrong! I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience.

Great place on Spring Street! With a subway stop so close, this Italian place has got my heart!

  3. I stopped by this past Thursday with a gf of mine. We just wanted to grab a glass of wine and quick snack. The lovely server understood our time constraints and moved quickly without making us feel rushed. She also sat us by the table for two right by the open windows so we could enjoy the fresh evening air which was surprisingly warm for november. The rest of the space has a cozy feel, I'd recommend this for a great first date place as it's intimate without the noise.

For our shareable snack, we got the fried cheese ($7) which was the perfect portion size when you just want to nibble with a nice red.

I'd love to come back here to try their dinner menu.

  4. This is the best pasta place I've ever tried in NYC. You can tell it's good because they also have a location in Ibiza, so it's international. The pasta is fresh and tastes just like the pasta from Italy. It's a very small, unassuming restaurant (those ones are always the best) and I'm confident recommending this as a restaurant to anybody, tourists or locals alike.

  5. I found this place on yelp, looking for a place to eat before a concert for 4 people…. What a great find!!!! We were all completely amazed from beginning to the end… My BF picked out the wine Montepulciano from Abruzzo and it was amazing… The tapas was so mouth water still amazed by it…. what made the night there was the outbreak of singing with the lights off banging on pots and pans in laughter… astonishing…. By far one of the best places my BF and fam. have ever been in Manhattan..

  6. This place is so fun!! I never gave it much notice when walking down spring street, but we had some friends in town and they decided to go to dinner here.

We had a reservation for 9:30p for six people on a Saturday night. The downside was that we had to wait 50 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation!!! We grabbed drinks at the nearby Soho Room to kill time until they called to say our table is ready.

When we were finally seated, I realized why it took so long – it is super tiny. The restaurant could fit about 30 people tops. Additionally, at 10:30 at night it was a PARTY! Loud music, lights flashing at times, we were encouraged to get up and dance in the little space available.

The food was also very very good. The menu is very seafood heavy, but the ravioli I selected with meat sauce was a great choice! As were the burrata and arancini for starters. And creme brûlée for dessert!

Kind waitstaff – they brought over a mini cannoli with a candle to celebrate our friend's birthday.  Overall great experience minus the very long wait to be seated, but will keep it on my radar for sure.

  7. Made a reservation here for a 10-person birthday dinner. These people are VERY Italian, so be prepared for their heavy accents when calling the restaurant.

Interior of the restaurant is pretty small, but it's nicely decorated. There's a couple outdoor tables and they can open the walls/windows so that the whole restaurant almost feels like it's outdoors.

The food was pretty good but I've had better elsewhere for the price. But they do serve bread with a sundried tomato olive oil spread that was pretty darn special….

The lobster linguine $25 was the most popular choice amongst the ladies. There was a decent amount of lobster chunks in the tomato sauce and it was overall very tasty. Others who got the cavatelli lamb ragu and uni spaghetti enjoyed their entrees as well. Don't hesitate to ask for a second serving of bread to clean up the extra sauce from your pasta dish.

Bottles of wine started from $32ish and was reasonably priced.

Service was very good. Not only did they keep our water glasses full, but a waiter actually brought out a chocolate molten cake for the birthday boy simply because he heard us cheers-ing to his birthday! We were all so puzzled at first since nobody told him.. how did he know??

Oh, and they like banging on pots and pans and singing very loudly and turning lights on and off… haha it was certainly an interesting experience. Just not sure if it's first date material though. My group of 20-somethings could've done without it, but the older diners seemed to enjoy it.

  8. So I really didn't expect much from this spot, but I've been back twice already and the food here is really solid!  This restaurant is small so easy to miss, but right in the heart of soho, and serves wonderfully authentic Italian food (everyone here is Italian!) at reasonable prices.

Both times I had the uni spaghetti, which I think is one of the best uni spaghetti's in the city.  I've also sampled some of the squid ink pasta and cavatelli and both were delicious as well.  The pastas are freshly made and just the right amount of chewiness.  For apps, I would recommend the arancini and calamari (which is served on top of guac – that was a first for an Italian restaurant but I love avocados so no complaints here!).

Only star off is for the desserts (which I do not think is their forte) and also their wine list (which is quite small).  But if you are looking for a casual Italian meal in Soho, I highly recommend this spot!
