The food is reasonably priced and tasty, I usually get pork and cheese pupusas or chuletas. I've tried the chicken once but it came out too dry. The service is slow and their delivery takes a long time, usually at least 45 min to an hour and I live a short distance away. But you can't beat really affordable price points for great comfort food. Make sure to ask for the green sauce when you order chuletas, sometimes they forget.
It has a long menu of items you can find elsewhere like fried chops, but I thought pupusas might be more site-specific. I got the mixed version – pork, cheese and beans, I believe. It was fine on its own but even better when topped with pickled cabbage and red and green sauces.
The shrimp ceviche had a good, tomato-oriented base, although I would have preferred whole shrimp over chopped.
The pupusas are really,really good,rich in flavor and you taste authentic Central American flavor, the food is always fresh. Must try the hocharta drink. One and half complaints though, too rich for my blood* and the waitress** had a stank-ass attitude. That's why I gave em a three.
*They used to be cheap back in the day, got expensive!
**One of the waitresses was nasty, the light skin skinny one is nice.
Upon first walking in, you won't expect much from Continental but don't let their lack of decór fool you. Their Salvadorean cuisine is mouthwatering good.
I always get the same thing when I come partly because because I am a creature of habit and partly because if something is this good, why change it?
I'd recommend ordering two pupusas: una revuelta (1 mixed) y una con queso (and 1 with cheese). Pupusas are lightly pan fried, corn or rice flour based tortilla patties stuffed with meat and cheese, pork and beans or just cheese. This dish comes with a side of shredded cabbage in a homemade vinegar & lime dressing.
So. Effing. Good.
Then I would recommend an order of Tamales de Elote. There are two in one order and perfect for sharing. This is a corn based, buttery tamale served with cream on the side that has a slightly sweet taste to it. It's very soft and buttery to the taste. This could probably also be eaten as a dessert but it complements the flavor of the pupusa and cabbage salad so well.
To drink, I would order one of their traditional beverages like Horchata (cocoa flavored, slightly milky drink) or Tamarindo (beverage made from Tamarind). Their milkshakes are also incredibly flavorful and delicious.

Two stars just for the tasty pupusas. The service wasn't great, the slaw was brought out by itself and we were just looking at it wondering what to do with it since no plates or explanation came with it. About 10 minutes later we got our cheese pupusas and the pork ones, both were delicious and were made better by the slaw.
When our meals were brought out, my maduros were on my friend's plate, her tostones were on my plate. Instead of fixing it before she brought it out or bringing us an extra plate to make it easier for us to switch, the server mentioned that they were on the wrong plates and that was it. My salmon was just okay, my friend ordered carne guisado and got a cheap steak, nothing at all like the stewed meat she was expecting.
I'd go back if I was in the area and only order pupusas.
This place is another gem in the neighborhood. I went there yesterday with 3 other people and had an amazing dinner. As a matter of fact, all 3 of them were Salvadoreans so they make credible critics. To make a long story short, all of them said the pupusas were up to par. Compared to other places, I like how these pupusas were actually a bit crunchy. That adds more texture to them.
You have the option of choosing either one of two rooms to dine in. The first one is where the bar is located, usually with brighter lighting and livelier crowd. The second is slightly darker for those who prefer a quieter dining experience.
Although the waitress never smiled, I will say her service was good. She even turned the fan on when I requested it. I highly recommend this place.

Papusas were nicely made and tasty especially the cheese papusa. They were served with a vinegary coleslaw.. Bf's plate of roast chicken, rice, beans salad was a feast. My batido of strawberry/banana was also quite good.
Bathrooms here are a bit dirty, but to some there is a correlation…$19.95.
I'm South American but my childhood babysitter was from El Salvador and always used to make my lunch, plus (little known fact) there has been a sizable Salvadoran population in "south Slope" since the 70s. So I recognize a good pupusa when I see one. Though the Red Hook soccer fields pupusas are typically better ….these are pretty good. They do the trick if it's late or you don't feel like trekking another 25 blocks. Good basic pupusas, though I find their cabbage sometimes has a bitter aftertaste which I never experienced before. NOT a good place to eat-in, it's dingy. I always get mine to go. The best part about this place is if you are a soccer fan….it's the only place anywhere near Park Slope or downtown BK that broadcasts all the CONCACAF league futbol …. so if you're from the Caribbean and you want to see the important games, this is your only option. $10 at the door and cheap, strong drinks …. can't beat that.
