I've been coming here for brunch forever, and I love their creamy tagliatelle with brie, truffle oil, and speck. I had the gnocchi for the first time this weekend and it was awesome. Strangely, we decided to get a "side of hanger steak*" for an appetizer. It was perfectly cooked and tasty. Gluten-free pasta, subbed for the tagliatelle, got a thumbs up from my glutard dining partner.
Beautiful little space, cozy and lovely at all times of year for an endless sparkling wine brunch. Count me in, anytime.
* Yes, this is a thing. A really wonderful thing.
Hands down, one of my new favorite places in Park Slope, both family and date friendly. The food here is incredible. If you're looking for authentic Tuscan cuisine, this place is a must.
The table ordered Fritto Misto (Fried calamari roast pepper aioli) and Crostini (Tuscan kale, cannellini beans and EVOO) to share. Both were so well seasoned, salt and sauce wasn't needed. I ordered the Papparadelle al Funghi. With three of my favorite ingredients– pasta, mushroom (shiitake, porcini, portobello) and white truffle oil, there was no way this dish could disappoint. Just as I expected, the dish was nothing short of amazing, the pasta was fresh, mushrooms were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of truffle.
Four stars instead of five because dessert was just average. We ordered creme brûlée, cookies and cream and Nutella gelato and apple crostata to share. After a meal like that, you'd expect dessert to blow your mind. It wasn't bad by any means, all fresh and made in house but doesn't live up to the standards set by their appetizers and entrees.
This place is a hidden gem. If you find yourself in the Park Slope area, definitely give this place a try. I've only ever been for brunch, but both of my experiences were exceptional. The beauty of this place is that it doesn't get crazy busy like most brunch places on a Saturday/Sunday. Both times I've been, the place wasn't too crowded and I didn't have to strain myself to speak/hear the people I went with. It's also very easy to make a reservation here! I made one online and ended up having to modify it three times (because that's the type of person I am). No problemo for this restaurant! They were easily able to accommodate my indecisiveness.
The actual brunch is the true star of the show. $19.95 gets you 1.5 hours of bottomless mimosas and champagne + an entree from their extensive menu + unlimited complimentary bread with this delicious tomato dipping sauce. In NYC, or really anywhere, that price just can't be beat! The service was also amazing. My table never had to worry about refills (though, the mimosas do tend to get refilled much quicker than the champagne).
All in all, if you want a low-key bottomless brunch, this is your place.
Treading a mildly awkwardly placed iron incline, past an iron gate door, and behind a heavy curtain, there is semi-hidden off Scottadito.
There are sponged terra-cotta affected walls, exposed brick, iron drop lights, and large photos of vintage Italian posters. Past the bar, and a dark corner for intimate engagements, there is a larger room, the end which is part solarium that opens to a rock garden. The tables of rough hewn wood encourages the the image of rustic Tuscan restaurant, though the clientele are Park Slopers: liberals, hipsters, and artistic types.
I arrived with friends for Sunday brunch with the lure of unlimited mimosas, champagne, and coffee to complement my Uova Benedette for $14.95. The two poached eggs were slightly lacking in the pesto sauce, though the bread still retained a nice crispness despite the sauce and spinach sitting on top. The mixed greens on the side had a light but still flavorful dressing, and the potatos were my favorite part of the dish. The others also enjoyed their meals: Steak and scrambled eggs, Prosciutto Cotto Omelette, and Uova Fiorentino.
The mimosas were refilled often; to the point where my friend became tipsy, her glass slipping from her hands and ice shattering on the table and floor but luckily not the glass itself which was caught in time. This is a caveat of having alcohol with a lush though.
The service was attentive, and it seemed the other customers were happy with their meals as well.
I've only come for brunch before a few times, but even when crowded they were great about finding a spot for us.
The food seems to generally be basic, but good Italian fare and both times there were big family events going on – it feels like a place you'd go for a rehearsal dinner before someone's wedding or for an afternoon with your grandparents.
The $15 unlimited mimosa option with brunch, however, is great. This is one of the few places that will actually keep your glass full and are in very attentive in general when it comes to waiting the tables.
This is an understated and underrated Italian restaurant. Not a lot of frills not a particularly expansive menu, but the food is good. Not all of the pasta is fresh, which is a minor bummer, and I think the house wines could be better, but it's very good food with attentive service and the prices are very good, especially for the location.
Went here for Christmas Eve dinner w/ E and a friend. It's off the beaten Park Slope path (how do I know? because i actually found parking near the place). Service was really warm and friendly with the exception of the bartender who was not very accommodating- he refused to get us our drinks at the bar while we were waiting for our table and wasn't very helpful when we asked to see the drinks menu either. Whatevs, you're not getting my money, cranky!
So after that, we were led to our table in the ground floor cellar which was quieter and spacier than the upstairs area. Our server called it the VIP table which really felt like it. We ordered the grilled squid appetizer with some fresh mozzarella and basil for the table. Individually, we consumed different pasta dishes which were absolutely filling. I was so full that I wasn't able to completely enjoy my mom's home cooked Christmas Lunch the next day.
Great place to go when you're celebrating a special occasion.
This place is great for brunch! You can't beat $19.99 with 1 entree and unlimited mimosas or champagne. This restaurant would get a higher rating if my French toast wasn't hard and stale, but I did enjoy the mixed berries on top. The customer service was also excellent as well
