  1. Slavery in 2015? I questioned myself as I sat there waiting for my food. I recently came back here due to their winter specials 6.95 for the nengmyun. Run by a couple, I was hungry and waiting for my food. The woman who spoke to my table in Korean was sickeningly sweet to her customers and then to her employees would start barking at them for the most minor things. She treated them so lowly it was incredibly uncomfortable. The food was served but her barking got louder and louder. I was ready to eat but i put down my chopsticks and my group was ready to pay the check and leave. I'll add a few more bucks to my meal and eat somewhere I don't have to feel so uncomfortable by borderline slavery treatment towards workers. Oh but let me clarify, this is most definitely not slavery because I am sure they get paid. ha. Furthermore, all her barking was done where she could be seen by customers. Hey, if you don't mind this type of scenery, the food didn't look too shabby. Cheers!(?)

  2. Came here for Sunday early dinner twice and always had a great time. Naengmyun is the perfect dish to have when the weather is 90+ F outside. So refreshing to "drink" off the delicious icy cold broth. They have lunch and dinner specials and during those times the naengmyun is $8 a bowl which is a great deal for naengmyun in this area. I like both the regular naengmyun and the bibim nanengmyun. I'm not sure what it is in their kimchi but it taste really different in a good way and homemade-ish. I always end up finishing the whole bowl. It's available for takeout as well for $2/container (about 8oz).

  3. I am so p.o'd right now.  We just came back from eating their cold and spicy nengmyun because today has been really hot (like Arizona hot) and decided nengmyun for dinner.  What a travesty.

Firstly, turn up your AC when it is 105 degrees outside.  The customers are there to cool off by eating cold noodles.  You are ruining the mood by keeping the thermostat at 80+ degrees!

Secondly, don't overcook the noodles.  Nengmyun noodles are supposed to be somewhat al dente and chewy.  Not soft and limp like somen!

Thirdly, increase your sari (noodle) portions.  If I am paying $11 for nengmyun, I expect to be somewhat satisfied after eating it.  The sari portions were equivalent to the tiny-suhbissu nengmyun portions that one receives after eating kalbi.  Save for omakase, I hate it when I go to a restaurant, pay good $, and leave there hungry!

And don't get me started on the fried dumplings.  They tasted like they were out of a bag; not freshly made.  Seriously, I could have made everything I ate here at home and saved $.

As I type, I am eating some rice and kimchi because I am still hungry!  $40 down the drain.  Boo to this place.  I'm out.

  4. Highly recommend this place if you want delicious, cold naengmyun. The fried mandoo is also really good. My husband always love to pass by this place on a hot summer day or happen to be in the area. In terms of the selection, it's limited to the cold noodles, dumplings, bbim bim bap, etc. and now they added a sushi menu, but otherwise, it's not a big menu. If you're looking for bbq, it's also not here.

  5. An okay place for neng myun. I think it caters to those who like theirs with less ingredients in it. I ordered the hwae (seafood) neng myun which was okay. They give you a drink/gook that I love – I forget what it's called. We ordered soon dae as well, which came with liver, and something other pieces which were all decent (although some are an acquired taste).

  6. Takes a lot to get a NY chick to trek across the bridge to Jersey…but this place was worth it!

Had their Cold Neng Myun and their Spicy Neng Myun, both very good.  The broth for the cold wasn't some watered down tasteless crap but real good beef consomme.  yes they don't give you a lot of the condiments that usually come in the bowl but their spread of the various kimchi's, both spicy and not, make up for it big time.

Had their Soondae (Korean blood sausage) nice and garlicky, an acquired taste but if you had blood sausage from other regions then you'll love this too.

And their Jok Bahl (pigs feet) these were worth the trip alone!  The right combo of meaty/gelatinous goodness.  They add soy sauce to the pot when cooking them because the skin had a nice caramel brown color to them.

And because we're eaters we also ordered their Soo Yook (most places it's sliced spleen but here they called it sliced brisket, the fattier part) This was yummy too.

All of it was outstanding and I will venture into crossing the bridges and tunnels for this place again.

  7. LOVE this place! Summer is the best season for naengmyun and this place ranks right up there with my favorites spots in NJ.

It's a bit out of the way from all the food places on broad ave (palisades park) but totally worth the extra trip.

The broth is super tasty – they give it to you in your own tea kettle and we had to ask for seconds. This stuff is addicting.

After we placed the order, our food came out within 5 minutes. We were pretty hungry so we welcomed our food with open arms. Their service is fantastic.

The mool naeng myun is SO good. Please add mustard and vinegar to get the flavor just right. Really loved the hwe naeng myun too! You can ask for less spicy if you can't handle the heat.

Overall, solid lunch/dinner spot in Cliffside Park. Can't wait to be back soon!

  8. Can't believe I've never tried this spot before!

This is an old school Korean joint. I was surprised by how big this restaurant is. You can also opt to sit in the rooms, where you take your shoes off to sit indian style around the table with your guests.

As for the food, the steamed dumplings are lil bites of perfection. I can definitely polish off two orders of this by myself. The jokbal (pig feet) platter is a generous portion to share and it was yum-o. The skin was more on the black side instead of a dark, caramelized brown & it lacked the cinnamon flavor, but that could just be personal preference. The nengmyun (cold noodles in broth) totally hit the spot. Squirt in some mustard and vinegar for that extra love. Can't wait to try the bibim nengmyun (spicy cold noodles) & sooyook (slow cooked brisket) next time!

PS. They serve soju, rice wine, plum wine, beer, etc. Think Korean bar.
