Amazing corn tortillas!! I think the key is to come after 7pm and the service isn't as bad.
The meat was too salty but the shrimp tacos were really fresh and tasty. I think the food here is a lot better than Maya across the block (and a lot cheaper).
This place recently opened and it looked cute inside, so I stopped by for a quick lunch. Very happy I did. They have standard Mexican fare, but they played around with the flavors. There is the standard menu, but they also had some specials on a chalkboard behind the checkout. There is limited table seating as well as some bar seating.
You order first, then they bring you the food when it's ready. It took our dishes about 10 minutes to arrive – not bad at all.
I got the Korean burrito, which had bulgogi Barbacoa as its meat. It was pretty awesome! The burrito was a good size and was $7. What adds up are the taco options, which comes with a side of rice and beans. Tacos are good but more limited in terms of portions. They had a few different flavors. I liked all of them except the chocolate pollo mole. It was a bit too chocolate-y and tasted weird with the salty meat.
Sad. Probably done w/this place. The Al Pastor meat was hard. I like crispy ends of meat, but this wasn't that. However, the tiny fresh Pct of lime was delish, cilantro was fresh & nice, pineapple ok, just the meat was a disappointment. So, based on all my experiences here…3visits, I won't waste my time here. But my first visit Did have an outrageously delicious BARBACOA taco so that was GREAT. Maybe you will have better luck.
And if you the restaurant really want to make sure a customer is enjoying their food, don't wait until they have finished the little taco–ask while there is food on the plate.
Interesting NO ONE from this chain ? Of restaurants ever seems to look at reviews & comment to customer. Lost a customer today. My time is precious & so is my meal time & money.
Wishing you better days ahead.
The food is still great, REALLY great, truthfully. However, the service is still a little bit too hit or miss after being opened for, in my opinion, enough time to work those "new business jitters" out.
I recently walked in to order their enchilada lunch special. When I ordered cheese enchiladas, the guy behind the counter was a bit flummoxed. When he looked at me quizzically and said, "Cheese…? Just cheese?", I thought he was joking around with me. I soon learned that I'm likely the first person that's ordered a cheese enchilada from him. "So, you just want me to put cheese in the enchilada?" Yes! Plenty of restaurants have cheese enchiladas. I ate some over the weekend! I don't say that preceding statement with anger, but more matter – of – factly. I just felt a little odd, because he seemed to be making a rather big deal, in front of staff and a few customers, about, well, cheese. Heh.
Oh, and of note: I have ordered cheese quesadillas from this place in a prior visit, with no issues.
I just don't know! The food is good, but…but…
Dudes get your sh!t together… food is really good but service sucks! This area is lacking in good eats AND it's a busy area with all of the hospitals. I'm frustrated not by tonights account but every time I've gone in the place is chaos.. The wait for food is ridiculuos, there seems to be such a lack of system and organization. When your order is ready and SITS ON THE COUNTER FOR 10 MINUTES while you peacefully surf your phone and wait… then they acknowlege you and realize they let it sit there getting cold… NO BUENO!
Food deserves 4, but crappy service knocks it down one and I've given them lots of chances to get it together…
I generally like Oaxaca, I have been to other locations but unfortunately tonight's experience was not good. I walked in straight from a really long day at work and was hoping for a quick yummy pleasant meal.
The meal was okay – Barbacoa platter. Seemed like a good choice- comes with rice/beans/3 tortillas/toppings on the side and of course the Barbacoa. This deal is better than doing to 3 taco Barbacoa combo.
All was good until a small green insect started climbing out of my food. THEN… I get bitten up by mosquitos (?) all over my legs while sitting down eating INSIDE! This is unacceptable. I will definitely not be returning. I will NOT recommending to my colleagues either. I hope the owner reads this message and begins to fumigate because it was a very unpleasant experience.
