  1. I loveeee this place!!! Honestly one of my fav spots in NJ it has such an awesome vibe!!! The decor is amazing!! You have to try the double fried chicken it's amazingggg!!! Bonchon is nothing compared to this spot!! The sangria is amazing its $30 little pricey BUT it's a byob place so just bring your own bottle and for $12 they will make it into the amazing sangria they are known for!! Rafeal was our server he was on point! We sat at the bar and had the red sangria which led to wanting to try to white sangria which led to the chickennnnn!!!  check this place out you will NOT be disappointed!! They have private karaoke rooms too super cool!!!!

  2. What I loved the most about this place is the atmosphere! It has character with its seats made from old cars and the mason jars lighting up the room. Its cozy! Its also BYOB which makes me happy. The service was friendly and helpful.
Parking lot outside which you pay the meters until i believe 7pm.
We got the roosterspin fries which were good. Very thick, maybe a little too thick, but still tasty. The only mustard mayo sauce that it came with was amazing.
We got the infamous fried chicken here. The spicy is pretty spicy. I would recommend doing half half or regular unless you truly love spice.
It was juicy, flavorful, and crispy. I shared the small chicken and fries with a friend and it was more than enough for us!

  3. I have to say, I don't know what all the fuss is about with the "long wait" reviews. We had no issues with this at all. The only thing that takes a little while (because it's made to order) is the fried chicken but they specifically tell you that on the menu. Even with that in mind, our order came out relatively fast.

    Ok so we ordered:

Soy garlic fried chicken. Great flavor and just enough of a kick to satisfy. Good portion to share.

Bulgogi crispy buns. Sweet and savory.  Good pick for a first visit.

Grilled corn on the cob with cotija cheese. We order one cob which they split in half. I thought it was a perfect amount but my husband wanted more.

Kimchi fries. Simple but really hit the spot for me.

Spicy tuna rice burger sliders. These were my least favorite. They just didn't have a ton of flavor. Pretty presentation though.

All of our tapas orders came out one at a time but overlapped just enough that we were almost done with one when the next came. Timing was quite perfect honestly.

Many people mention the decor. It is very cool. I enjoyed the huge wall of jazz vinyl. I just wish they played some of them!

Price wasn't the worst I've seen, but it's a little on the higher side for a BYOB. That's why I gave three stars.

  4. I can't believe it but I am giving this place 4 stars.

    First the bad:
The food isn't all that great and the prices are a bit high. Think PF Changs with better presentation and smaller portions.

I think they are not very authentic either… think fusion/ "new Korean".
At one point I ordered white rice to accompany the spicy pork with veggie stir-fry. That's how they eat it in Korea according to my wife (Korean). I asked the waiter how much for a bowl of rice and he blanked out – "I don't know, people rarely order rice here". That's a pretty absurd thing for a waiter to say at an Asian restaurant!

    Onto the good:
Great atmosphere. Legitimately feels like you are in the city. A lot of places in Jersey try to achieve this but fall flat. It reminded me a bit of Max Brenner near Union Square combined with Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore. On Friday and Saturday nights they have live jazz music and on the evening we went it was pretty damn good.

It's byob, which is always a good thing and especially so in a place with nice ambiance.

Great place to go to lounge around and listen to live music and for dates.

I heard the chicken wings are good. I'll try em next time

  5. Roosterspin has major virtues and major flaws.  It is new, so I hope they can fix the problems, especially because I like Korean food.

Plusses–funky decor; dj playing jazz; very good mango salad; very nice waitress; not the usual NJ Italian place; will be open late.

Minuses–prices are much higher than value, especially for what will be nonBYO once the winebar is set up. "Tapas"  cost as much as $16 for a a few bites of good seabass; small sushi rolls; miniscule sliders.  The bragged about chicken is good (not great)–but $23 for 12 half wings and 3 drumsticks with no sides except a few radish slices–plus a standard 35 minute wait? $9 for 6 potato wedges?

More minuses–the small menu has few options for those who do not like fried food or meat.  There is no option to add grilled shrimp or chicken to the mango salad. While I was waiting 35 minutes for my chicken, they brought out both my wife's dishes almost simultaneously, instead of spacing them out.

  6. The location is great, so is the decor and service but if you've had authentic Korean food this is a tough competition. That's the only reason why I gave it 3 stars. Mocktails were delicious and I only wish that actual cocktails tasted like them. I really liked the tuna with noodles even though it wasn't exactly what I pictured. Would come again if they some happy hour specials or for a special event.

  7. More often than not, I tend to be HIGHLY critical of Asian "fusion" spots (in particular the Korean variety), as many of them water down not only the cuisine but the rich culture it seeks to infuse.

Roosterspin has proven me wrong…so, so wrong.

Reminiscent of Turntable and the late Mono+Mono, in the best ways possible, the spot showcases a wide array of shareable options. While the chicken is your standard bonchon fair, start off your meal with the Snow Corn Roll, with a presentation that lives up to its hype. Oh and feel free to enjoy their "mocktails," guilt-free of course

The stellar service made the event so much sweeter. (I made sure to tip our waiter a little extra for catching my Zach Galifianakis reference mid-conversation.)

  8. Really enjoyed everything I ate here! Loved their mango salad and their rice flour waffle with blueberry sauce. Their chicken was good too. We also tried their bulgogi sliders and these were great too! Service was also very good. We will be back again to try more items from their menu.
