  1. Our first experience here was great.  Needing something dietetic, I ordered the saffron salmon which was AMAZING. The portion was HUGE and it tasted delicious. I was happy to take the leftovers for lunch the next day.  My husband had the chicken saag and we ordered the aloo gobi. Both were very tasty as well, but slightly different from what we were used to eating at other Indian places.

The negatives were that the dining area was a little too dark. I felt like i couldn't really see what I was eating… but the bar area was nicely decorated and looked like a cool place to hang out.  The other problem was the parking lot was awkward. My husband had to maneuver the car so that we could actually get out. Other than that it was a great experience and we will be back.

  2. Came here for lunch with a friend today around 1:30 pm. The restaurant was empty, with only 2 of the ~15 tables occupied. We were handed lunch menus, with about 10-15 items to choose from. I ordered the Chicken Methiwala ($10.95) which is chicken cooked with red onions, garlic, cilantro, ginger, tomatoes and fenugreek. We also ordered a side of naan ($1.95).

It took about 10 minutes for our orders to be ready. Presentation was nice, one section of the plate was the chicken, a cylinder of rice, a salad (spinach and red-leaf salad) with a light dressing, and a small bowl of orange sauce with beans. Portions were small to medium-sized but filling. The chicken was delicious, tender, and very tasty with just a hint of heat. Mmmmm, I was sad that they only gave me ~10 chunks of chicken as I was left wanting more. The basmati rice was pretty bland and nothing to raise an eyebrow for. The thick orange sauce was good with the naan, though flavors were not too intense. I was glad that they gave us about 8-10 slices of naan which helped to fill up my stomach near the end.

Service was average as the waiter never came by except to take our order, give us a new carafe of water, and then to drop off the bill.

The Chicken Methiwala was very delicious, though it felt as service and quality of food has degraded here since the last time I visited which was over a year ago. Perhaps I'll come again to give Heritage of India another chance? Perhaps not?

  3. Heritage has some seriously awesome Indian Food, and I've been to India!

Pro's: More than Adequate Portions, Delicious Food, Beautiful presentation, Lunch Specials, Parking Lot

Con's: Waiter? What waiter? Water? What water? Slow… took 10 minutes to pack food to go. No free Onion naan

    Our Dishes:
        LAMB SAAGWALA $11.95
Lamb cooked with fresh spinach and herbs.

        LAMB ROGANJOSH $11.95
Lamb cooked in exotic spiced herbs.
[This was mine, it was so delicious!]

        MALAI KOFTA $10.95
Soft cheese and veggie croquettes simmered in a mild saffron cream sauce.

Despite the con's I will most definitely go back to Heritage. There was no one there when we arrived so we got a little nervous but the food won us over. The lamb dishes are phenomenal!

  4. Nothing gets me more impatient than waiting for my food from take-out and Heritage of India was of no exception to the anticipation of palek paneer to waff my senses and also to leave the smell on my fingers three days after no matter how much I wash them.  I know what you're thinking, "What sicko insists on smelling their fingers to remind them of a meal they had?!"  That sicko would be me and you'd be a follower too if you came here.

The take-out portions I thought were fairly reasonable but I'm always griped as to naan being more expensive than what it should be. ::waves fist in the air::

Indian friend: ::looks around at the other people waiting for take-out:: White people like to order from here

Me: Who you calling white? I'm brown from within and can handle eating with my hands which alot of people don't like and! I like spicy foods.  I'm not white

Indian friend: I guess that's why you have brown eyes

Couldn't have made more sense then the Dalai Lama himself.

  5. Starting to slip.

I doubt the Indian heritage includes bland food, so I have no idea what happened here.  We picked up a bunch of stuff for lunch as we do from time to time and it all was rather mediocre.

I have to say that the place used to be top notch, but after today – not so sure.

Just to be fair I'll give them another shot to see if they were just having a bad day.
