Pietros Ristorante

This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant (he's quite a foodie so it's a real compliment!), so I've been here a few times. Everything I've ordered has been delicious. I'd recommend the meat ravioli and the caesar salad in particular – both items are some of the best I've ever had.
The restaurant is located just a few blocks from Grand Central, so it's a great spot for dinner if you're meeting someone who is commuting or works in the area.
Note: this is an old-school Italian place — might not be for you if you're looking for something hip and trendy.
This place is something special. Before I get to the food, just want to mention how great the ambiance is. So old school Italian, one of the true gems in NYC.
Now for the food. Everything is amazing. I've been there probably about 20 times, and the only thing I consistently get is the Caesar salad. The best I've ever had – hands down. I know it's not the most exciting thing on a menu but let me tell you it is perfect. I personally ask for no anchovies, as they make the salad a little to salty for my taste, others I've eaten with like them so to each their own.
Other than that, my top three dishes are the ravioli, the veal parm and the steak. The veal parm is easily enough for two meals, and is downright phenomenal.
This is my favorite restaurant in the world.
We've been here a couple (2 times?) more times since my last review. Thought I'd update with a clear statement: the food is BOMB here. It's not pricey for what's offered and presented. Their menu prices obviously fluctuate a lot, as they write in the $ numbers to the side of each dish.
I had the shrimp marinara during our firm holiday lunch, along with my favorite- their cold seafood salad appetizer! Everything was perfectly cooked and the shrimp was TDF!!!!
Pasta comes out on the side, so just know that your dishes are just pecks of whatever protein you order on a bed of pasta like other places.
Definitely a good go-to old school Italian restaurant in the area. Has a lot of regulars for a reason!
4.5 / 5 stars
GREAT food, LARGE portions, GOOD service, CLEAN establishment.
FOOD – I was here in the company of 2 other men. One ordered the red snapper, the other ordered a chicken dish which I didn't get to try, and they ordered a salmon baked in lemon sauce and sides of potato wedge fries and asparagus. The asparagus were huge and delicious. The potato wedges were hefty and filling, and the salmon was baked perfectly, very succulent and the lemon sauce addition was great! It also came out and filled literally the entire plate! It was huge! Only downside was that the dish was only the salmon (with lemon sauce and capers). I generally like my meat or fish dish to have some type of side, rice, or other for a complementary pairing.
For dessert, I ordered the berries and vanilla ice cream. Considering that it wasn't strawberry or blueberry season, the fruit were sweet and the addition of the ice cream made it more than just a snack food, it really transformed the dish into a dessert.
ATMOSPHERE – the atmosphere was old timey but very classic. Most of the patrons in the establishment were in their latter years, so it was quiet but classic quiet. A very mature setting. great for good wine and conversation. The area was also very clean.
STAFF – the staff are all very very attentive. They're always there, either standing in the background or attending to your next course. They're courteous and very friendly! The ones that were there during our visit were Italian and will converse with you if you want. Great staff.
Overall, good place for a quiet, conversational, and classic dinner. Only downside is the pricing and that you had to order separately (-0.5 stars). Besides that, great place!
Came in for a late evening dinner after an evening of holiday shopping. It has an old school feel with a wait staff wearing formal attire. I had the lasagna special which was possibly the best I have ever had with a very large portion. My girlfriend got the chicken parm which was massive but also very very good. The servers were very friendly and attentive. With two entrees and total of three glasses in house wine between the two of us the bill came to $99 plus tip which i thought was a little pricey for what we had ordered but the food was very very good. Only steps from GCT on east 43rd street is also very convenient. My only negative comment is that the pricing is a little inconsistent and a little high for what you get.
