  1. this place has gone down in quality from the last time i went. This was my 3rd time and no longer a fan. Basurero as the name stands its a "garbage dump" the decor is from a lot of what people have in their garages and home attics. The stuff is all over and its cool looking.

The food is not what it used to be. Quantity wise is good, large amounts but taste is not even close to a real Colombian style restaurant.
Ordered the bistek a caballo (steak). it comes with rice and beans with a tomato sauce on top. it just felt that it came out of a can.
the others at the table had the same experience, food just didnt seem fresh. One came with canned pineapple rings.

Service is good as always but with the quality of food so bad, why bother.

  2. Came here for dinner with some friends after work on a Sunday night. Place is huge btw with interesting decor. We ordered the typical Colombian dish with skirt steak, rice & beans, plantains, blood sausage, pork skin, & etc. Food was ok but steak was overcooked.

Service on the other hand was decent and portions were huge in each of our dishes. Only improvement I would recommend is to allow customers to replace the sweet plantains with tostones (other places I've been to would substitute that easily without being charged extra to remove/add it on).

  3. I came here with my friend for dinner and it was a decent experience. I was always so curious about this restaurant due to its unique theme of the dumpster findings all over the walls. We had the mojito paisa which was really good. They had a great variety of things on the menu which i liked and the food was great. I had the pork loin steak which was tasty. However, the place has really bad lighting which i didnt like. Also the service was not the greatest. Were we legit waiting for the waiter to give us our check for like 15 minutes. And another 10 for him to take my card. Also i didnt like the fact i could feel the vibration of the train underneath me. That really creeped me out. I know its not there fault but why would they buy a restaurant location that you could feel that? However, the food was highly recommended! Would i come back? Maybe if im in the area which not many options to choose from.

  4. I'm a fan of the chicharron de pernil and their small yet complimentary empanadas they serve during dinner hours. However, they really need to bring back their happy hour. In the meantime, I'll stick to may caipirinhas…their best bang for your buck cocktail.

  5. A lot of fun. While I am the first to notice bad service, after reading many terrible reviews I was surprised that service here was decent, even with hundreds of futbol mad Colombians cheering on their Copa America team. The door was chaotic, with dozens of people on the sidewalk all trying to get past the bouncers to celebrate. Inside the restaurant it was sweltering, as hot and humid as Cartagena. Drinks were delivered quickly. Food was heavy and adequate. The empanadas were underwhelming, lacking flavor. The sancocho was decent, maybe worth another try. The chicken served on the side to be added in (along with rice) was perfectly cooked. Drinks were simple: aguardiente and more aguardiente. Viva Colombia!

  6. I think I can agree with the majority when I say the service was less than mediocre. The waiter was unattentive. We orderd margaritas which were pretty good and my friend ordered oxtail soup….which had absolutely no oxtails. The oxtails were actually on another plate with a side of white rice. Im still trying to process why the oxtails were not in the soup. The calamari was okay. Not overly seasoned which was good. I also ordered a shrimp empanada which was nothing to write home about. Overall this place is overpriced and the service was bad enough to keep me from coming back.

  7. Ive heard mixed reviews of el Basurero but ended up trying it yesterday. I was not impressed. It was group of 5 and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly. The menu is expansive and they have a great selection for breakfast called calentado. We ordered our beverages and they served the drinks in to go cups. C'mon what happened to the regular porcelain cups for coffee, hot chocolate or tea. The place was pretty much empty. We ordered our meals and the food took forever to come out. Eventually when the food arrived, they brought 3 out of the 5 orders. The other 2 orders took another 10mins. I ordered the calentado combinado campesino. It looked great on the menu however the food was subpar. The ham or pork inside the omellete tasted not fresh. The rice mixed in with the beans, the calentado, was very bland. The only good thing on the plate was the arepa and the cheese. The service was slow. I was disappointed. Not sure if I'll give this spot another try. Doubt it.

  8. I went with 3 of my friends, looking for some great Colombian food, for quite a while, I have been hearing good stuff about this place.

A few of my friends had told me the wonderful that this place can be, the great food and service they offer. But unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience in this restaurant that day.

Let's start that day they were offering a free concert to all the guest that was present, although this was a great detail of them, they should know that not all peoples while they are eating, like to listen to very loud music.

The music was so loud, that we couldn't have a nice conversation with the one that was sitting down on our table.

The server was extremely slow that day, he took a very long time several time to see if we were missing or needing something, on several occasions one of my friends or me, had to call  another waiter so he can call his attention because we got tired of waiting on him.

The food was the most disappointing of the day, I order Basurero's Tray With Entrana(Skirt Steak). The Basurero Tray  came with rice, fried egg, sweet plantain,  avocado I did make a changed the order some add yuca frita instead of the beans, and the entrana. The entrana and rice were the best of the plate and they were only okay, the yuca frita was too dry didn't like the taste  and the sweet plantain was too greasy.

Although the amount was enough, the quality was poor, and for me, it is better quality than quantity.
