  1. Killed some time here Sunday. Great beer selection, bartender let me sample a couple before committing, love the Ted theme, from Ted Knight to Teddy Roosevelt. Nice ambiance, nice woody decor, the mac and cheese was excellent. Worth a visit.

  2. I don't think I got that old to be bothered by noise but this place is SOOO Loud. Okay it is Friday but it was not crazy crowded inside, they let us get any table. Our neighbor table specifically were literally screaming not talking. The interior acoustic make them sound even louder. I really got annoyed.

Our waitress, Capelle, was so kind and attentive. We ordered a cheese & meat plate, a mushroom flatbread and a bottle of Pinot Noir. She came back couple minutes later with another Pinot Noir bottle since they run out of the one we ordered. We accepted.

Meat and cheese plate is really nice and good portion. Flatbread on the other hand is nothing special, mushrooms on top was good but overall taste is lame. Wine was also so-so.

Bathrooms are downstairs, clean. AC works very well so if you are easily cold as myself, have a scarf or cardigan. Prices are reasonable.

  3. Not sure of Ted's target audience.  Loud, pricey, and pushy.

Not sure of Ted's target audience, especially as it's darn near impossible to hear a carefully planned pickup line short of all-out shouting.  That rules out culture.

Drinks are $16ish.  That rules out recent grads.

Orders of non-alcoholic ginger beer are switched to a more expensive (albeit excellent) hard variety.  That rules out designated drivers.

Wonder how this place operates during sunlight hours?

  4. Such a CUTE PLACE. Their drinks are good, their atmosphere is good. I haven't tried the food but want to come back for a meal! The vibe is really relaxed but classy. When I came here I sat in a comfy booth with friends all the way in the back and was able to hang out and just talk with them. They also have gluten free beer in their list of robust options. I will be back for sure.

  5. I was in New York for work last week and looked for a bar that had dinner and drinks.  Ted'S Corner fit the bill so I checked it out.  It was packed when I walked in as there was a corporate event wrapping up.  The bartender wasn't super friendly or talkative which didn't give me a great vibe off the bat.

If I just stuck with beer I would have given Ted's a higher rating as the beer selection is great.  I got the sampler to begin with.  You could choose any four beers.  I ordered the Truffle Cheddar Pretzel and it was good but the spicy cheddar sauce made it.  I was disappointed in the dip trio though as none of the selections were very flavorful.

Come for the great beer selection.

  6. Randomly end up with a friend of mine at Ted's as we were trying to gather all of us together on Thursday night.
We ordered beer and appetizers for starters and asked the waitress to leave menus with us as we were planning to hang out for drinks and tapas and meet with other friends. I picked one of the appetizer platters as it had Halloumi cheese ( my fave) ,olives, Greek salad & sausage. Each one of these little appetizers is 1/2 cup size which is just to pick something while you have your drinks. It reminded me of Europe  Do not expect typical bar appetizers that you will usually find in an American bar. Think of Ted's appetizers as you hang out in the Mediterranean I would compare it to  Spanish siesta where you hop from bar to bar and you are offered little tapas while you have drinks. The only difference is tapas in Spain are free during siesta as long as you order drinks while at Ted's tapas are pricey along with drinks. The waitress was overwhelmingly attentive to the point it got annoying. She constantly kept interrupting our conversation. We weren't clear if she was trying to be pushy to get in orders quickly or push us to leave. After another interruption from the waitress we were considering to leave but my friend insisted to order wine & lamb chops. Lamb chops were cooked to perfection. We just wanted to have drinks and enjoy ourselves but at the end we suggested to our friends that we were waiting to join us to meet elsewhere instead of staying at Ted's. We paid and went to Pod 39 Rooftop to continue our conversation & have drinks!
Here is how I'll rate my Ted's experience:
1.I'm giving Ted's 5 stars for interior as it can be attractive for female patrons. It's nice to see that there are no TV's and forces people to converse with each other but it's kind of dark for a bar. Little candle lights on tables brings lounge vibe. Interesting interior concept that can be versatile to attract diverse clientele.
    2. Food preparation 4 stars
    3. Food presentation 3 stars.
    4. Service 2 stars staff should be able to assess who is there to have drinks and can afford to pay without being too pushy.
It is nice to see different approach between bar & lounge setting. It seems that there is good intention and investment in Ted's. It will be great to see improvement in service & menu to compliment wine & beer selection.

  7. Service aside, Ted's Corner Tavern gets 5 stars.

My friend and I dropped by for dinner Friday night, and started out with a draft beer and a jalapeño-infused margarita, respectively. We then placed an order for the sushi-grade octopus, which was like an appetizer salad, and delicious! We followed with an order of the red pepper feta dip, accompanied by warm pita.

Even though we were seated at the bar and there weren't an overwhelming number of people there, it nonetheless took nearly an hour for it to come out. I was offered another drink on the house while we waited, which I thought was a good deal since we weren't in a rush.

The layout is open and airy, and the lighting dim and welcoming.

So since excellent food trumps stellar service in my book, Ted's Corner Tavern is as good as it gets!

  8. Nice little spot. Awesome Mac & cheese and I liked the bratwurst as well. They have a great beer list. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too crowded here. I think the prices are reasonable for Manhattan. The ambiance is nice as it is dark and could probably be noisy if it's really crowded.

We had good service and our waitress was awesome. She let us try a small sample of the beer before ordering. The only bad thing was that they were out of pumpkin ale.
