  1. I ordered the Shepard salad with pita bread for lunch and it was good. The salad was made with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. I love the way it tastes and the portion is great. The pita bread is toasted very well, just perfect. The price was definitely worth it. Must try if you're around and want some Mediterranean food!

  2. The main reason I don't stop in to Mr. Falafel more is sometimes when there is a line, you have to wait awhile. I believe the main reason is the online order stuff which is great when you are ordering online. (I have ordered online via grub hub) The good news is the last few falafel's I have eaten from here captured a bit of the old glory I was looking for. The soups are always pretty tasty especially when it's cold out.

  3. Mr. Falafel claims to be an Egyptian restaurant but take it from the Egyptian I was with and myself the food isn't all that great. He wasn't too impressed and neither was I. And he said some of the dishs are Moroccan not Egyptian. But the food really wasn't that great. The blackeyed peas that came as a side were disgusting. I couldn't even eat them. The service was good. And the seating area was nice and clean. But all together it was a disappointment. I would say the best part was the mint tea.. Which my friend said was in very Egyptian style which was delicious.

  4. Falafel is meh. Maybe I don't like falafel?
    The hummus is pretty good.
    The dolmas are decent.
The babaganoush is a winner, with just right smoky flavor.
The hot sauce is also key.

The price is definitely a winner.

Definitely not a shining eat-in place. Not much decor to be had inside.

  5. I really do enjoy Mediterranean food and I was happy with this spot. The falafel was good (slightly too crispy but still good). The salad was fresh and tasty. The waitress was also very nice.

  6. I stopped in with 3 other friends for a quick bite on a Tuesday nite. I had already eaten earlier so I decided to have the Avocado Salad. The salad was pretty decent and to drink I had the Banana Strawberry Smoothie.

My friends devoured the food they ordered I don't even think they chewed just stuffed and swallowed. Its amazing to watch food disappear and they tell you it taste so good. Go figure!

Small place, service was good and the smoothie was really delicious.

  7. I can say that the falafel at Mr. Falafel is pretty good. I can say that, and it'd be telling the truth. As far as the rest of the stuff goes, it'd a lot harder to say it's good without lying.

First off, the lamb was simply bad. Really bad. Had I not gotten delivery, I would have sent it back. The stuff was just so, incredibly tough. Just thinking about it makes my jaw hurt.

I'm a big fan of muhamara, and was psyched to see it on the menu. But it was mediocre at best. Low on taste, and too sweet. On the good side, I liked their baba ghanouj, though the hummus was pretty average. And the pita that came with everything tasted a little stale and like they just got it out of a bag.

So maybe if you're walking by and just want a falafel with baba, it's fine. But I wouldn't go for anything else.

  8. Mr. Falafel is healthy food. Not organic, but check out these perks listed at the bottom of the menu: MSG-free and preservative-free, with no added sodium, and the poultry is hormone-free and antibiotic-free. And it's an easy place for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans to eat together. The menu's large section of vegetarian platters and sandwiches has many vegan options. Even the brunch and lunch specials have veggie stuff. I had the fried eggplant & cauliflower, really delicious comfort food (see my pic). It came with excellent fries and a very fresh chopped salad, tahini and pita. It was pretty inexpensive too, with pleasant and fast table service and a very clean restroom. The ambiance is definitely more takeout than eat-in but that's perfect for lunch or a quick weekday dinner. A definite keeper.
