A block from Union Square, this cute, medium-sized restaurant serves up a very healthy and vegetarian-friendly menu. Great place for salads, hummus, sandwiches, soups, and all for a fair NYC price. Dinner for two sans drinks may cost you $25-30. Two soups and a shared sandwich is good way to go for lunch or dinner (sandwiches have great bread). Not a fancy place, but clean, modern, spacious, and well-run. Recommended.
My favorite mediterranean hummus place in the city. It is a casual place to grab food – you can sit or take out. Ive gotten the avocado and lentil salad (which is super light and fresh with a ton of flavor and lots of ingredient – will definitely keep you full. It is also less of a salad and more of a bowl with cold greens). Ive also had the masahaba hummus plate – it is a hummus with jalepeno and onion. The first time i ordered this it was awesome but the last time i did it was very watery – might be because i got it to go but i was a bit disappointed. However ive gotten the beef hummus plate more than once and each time it was incredible. So much flavor it is my favorite dish by far.
The Powerfood plate makes a good meal. I had Power Greens, Baked Falafel, Hummus, Organic Mushrooms and Green Tahini sauce. I like that their falafel is baked. The hummus seems to be low in salt. I had a big bowl of greens with plenty of mushrooms, a big scoop of hummus, a large amount of tahini sauce and 3 pieces of falafel. It comes with wheat pita but I opted for no pita. Even without bread, it was filling.
My partner and I popped in here for a quick lunch the other day and we fell in love.
I ordered the baked falafel wrap with roasted red pepper hummus and the quinoa nanoosh on the side.
My partner ordered the veggie wrap with roasted red pepper hummus and the quinoa nanoosh on the side.
Both of our wraps were packed with fresh, tasty veggies. The hummus added flavor and my falafel were baked to perfection. The quinoa nanoosh was the perfect compliment to the wrap. It was light and cool – perfect for a hot summer day.
Although Nanoosh is a little expensive, my partner and I agreed we would go back in a heartbeat, the food was healthy, filling and delicious.
Tried their classic hummus with cilantro and a chicken salad with flax– both very clean and simply. No flavors were overwhelming or bland and left with a happy stomach. Highly recommend to people who are watching what they eat and or vegetarians!!
I work in 30 Rock and so am constantly on the look out for new and exciting places to get lunch. I've heard good things about this place in the past so decided I'd give it a try. Ir ordered online then ventured downstairs to pick k up my food. where it was promptly waiting on me.
The online ordering portal is super user-friendly and clear, and the restaurant that offers a wide variety of food options and ways to customize your order. I eventually went with spicy hummus as my base with a chicken shawa as my protein and some feta and tzaiziki as my topping. It was all delicious as hell. Anyone who's attempted to eat NY Mediterranean cuisine more than once without performing due diligence well knows, you do that sh*t at your own peril. Exercise caution and exercise it religiously as a Kardashian on leg/butt day. But fear not when venturing to Nanoosh, as they've clearly been able to seamlessly marry the need for authentic middle eastern fare with the convenience and ease needed by those lunching in the City.
Go here.
Baked falafel is bland. And dry. And expensive.
Chickpea's on 14th is better.
Gluten free wrap was not bad though!
Always a great meal here. I've been here at least 3 times & never been disappointed. There are TONS of options for all the vegetarians out there. The meat options for carnivores like myself are also plentiful. I suggest the chicken shawa – it comes with caramelized onions so you can't go wrong with that!
