This is a very small space that can seat at most 4 people per table.
All orders are placed at a counter, no waiter service.
The tacos here are amazing, it is served with 2 tortilla; my favorite by far is carnitas which is topped with a generous amount of guacamole, but you can't go wrong with any of the other protein. I also really like their crispy fish, steak, and shrimp taco.
The guacamole is also a must have item here! It's very simple, like everything else on their menu. There are no frills-n-thrills here.. just great food. I also like that they aren't charging $12 for 2 tacos like some of these other taco places in Manhattan.
I absolutely love their fish tacos!! The only place I'd come back to for just their fish tacos. I haven't had any better fish tacos than this place. Their steak tacos are good too. The nachos and guacamole is a must too!!
AMAZING little taco place on the east side. Tiny little shop with only 3 tables to sit at but wow they pump out tacos packed with flavor. Over the years I have found it hard to find very flavorful fish tacos and I found them here for sure !!! I ordered the chicken, pork, and fish tacos all of which were SO good. I highly recommend and will be back for sure.
Step aside Chipotle!!! One of the best places on earth! Not overrated and surprisingly spacious even thought it has only 3 tables and window seating. You also order up front in the register and they will bring you the food. I got the steak quesadilla, pollo tortas, guac with chips, and fish, shrimp, and chicken tacos.
1. Steak quesadilla was cooked nicely and oozing with cheese.
2. The pollo tortas had beans, guac, lettuce and was deliciously filling.
3. Their tacos was small but it was delicious, fish was flaky, it paired well with the red cabbage and the red tarter sauce.
Chicken was well seasoned and was topped with some amazing tomato salsa. Just the right amount acidity.
4. Get the guac. Guac was creamy and chunky. I wish the chips were crispy though.
Everything was so flavorful and satisfying. I don't think I will go to chipotle again. Also don't forget to check in for $1 jarritos soda. Prices are $10 or less.
Carnitas tacos here was double corn tortilla-ed and came with two hot sauces. The green was good. The pork was slow cooked but not so juicy that it was sloppy. Topped with a generous portion of flavorful guacamole. Overall one taco was hefty. Would like to return to try some of their other creations.
So I went to this place expecting some devilishly good nachos, but what I got served instead surprised me. I was expecting some Mexican cheeses, like Chihuahua, Oaxaca, or at least mozzarella (at worst); but what I got instead was liquid cheese and some shredded American.
Sure, you can get away with that delicious, hot liquid cheese you'd expect came straight out of a baseball park's left over container at a place like San Loco, where they advertise their liquid cheese nachos as Ballpark Nachos; but this place doesn't even let you know what's coming. What kind of place does this!!
Since I was expecting something different, and I wasn't in the mood to reminisce about going to baseball games as a child, feeling hungry, and smelling liquid nacho cheese/Cheese Whiz; two stars is the best I can do.
Be warned…their Diablito is in the details.
I was mapping out spots that are closest walking distance to The Bowery Electric. I am glad that I stumbled onto El Diablito Taqueria in my Yelp search as my best friend loves Mexican food especially when it's cheap. Literally a 5 mins walk from the 2nd Ave train station. Cute decor of the devil on the wall with 3 tables that can seat 12 people with two bar stools by the window. My brother's gf was running a little late so we sat and waited for her. Daisy (cashier/server) was nice to bring over a basket of freshly tortilla chips with two dipping sauces as I informed her that we are waiting for someone else and didn't want to order ahead of time. My friend already knows that she's getting something from the Tacos and thinking of the Al Pastor "slow roasted pork". My eyes were fixated on the Huaraches section and it seems interesting since I want something a little bit more different from Tacos and Burritos…you know what I am saying lol! As my brother's gf finally arrives, she quickly looked over the menu.
When you check-in with Yelp, you get any flavor of the Jarritos for $1 which was a nice deal so I ordered the Mango flavor along with my order of Al Pastor Huaraches without cilantro. My best friend ordered two Al Pastor Tacos and my brother's gf ordered one Al Pastor Taco. There were pineapple chunks mixed in the slow roasted pork and that combination was superbly delicious as the flavor profiles were very balance and you don't taste too much sweetness from the pineapple. I really love this place because of the food and service which is very important to small businesses!
I will be back soon whenever I am around 2nd Ave!
The Al Pastor quesadilla is my favorite. Perfect balance of tangy pineapple, rich pork and hot cheese. The portion is pretty big too–leaves me feeling full and happy.
