  1. Wow. What a discovery. Desi Galaxy totally blindsided me. It's a pretty small food- court style space. There are about 5 different vendors catered to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

    The GOOD –

Excellent Indian food. I ordered a dosa. When it's done right, dosas are very impressive. It's a simple dish – a crepe filled with potatoes and onions. Sounds boring right? But, forget what you know about "crepes." This dosa was HUGE, just the way it should be (sitting way off of your plate on either side). The masala potato filling was perfect. The sambar was right there with some of the best I've had.

CHEAP food available from $3 to $15 My dosa was only $6. It doesn't get better than this quality and this price.

Pani Puri – I honestly have not had pani puri in years. Major con was that for $5.50 you only got six puris, which is kind of a rip because they cost like 1 cent. What the heck? I wish the plate had at least 10. The pani (water) was so tasty, and it even comes with a little side of tamarind sauce. They skimp on the potatoes and beans, too.

Overall, Desi Galaxy has some REALLY great food. If you're craving Indian from near or far. It's definitely worth the trouble.

  2. I go to Galaxy for chai and paan – my two Indian favorites!

Parking is always a pain but a trip for the tea and paan is worth the mess!

Am not much of a fan for the other food stalls there…go to Bombay Talk instead.

  3. Being anywhere in Edison makes me feel like I'm in India, but I really felt like I was in India when I stepped into this place. Street style vendor stalls, 90's Hindi music, and no AC. 🙂 (they do have fans though!)

We already had lunch at Urban Spice so we didn't get any food here. My friends got mango lassis and I got sugar cane juice. Both were yummy and refreshing! We also got some paan on the way out.

Something to note is that some of the vendors take credit cards, but there is an associated fee with the transaction, while others only take cash. There is an ATM located inside if you need cash.

Overall upkeep of the restaurant could be better and some AC would be nice.

  4. Anytime i'm in central NJ I HAVE to go to Desi Galaxy for a meal. It's  cheap and delicious indian food every single time.  It's the corner spot of the strip mall and has 6 food stalls, a drink station, and a paan place. I'm a creature of habit so I always got to Punjabi express (i think that's what it's called… right in the middle). You can get a whole meal + naan made in the traditional tandoori oven for just $8.

The drink place has the best lassi. A medium sized drink will run you $5. Totally worth it in my eyes.

I have never had a bad experience here.  Keep in mind the weekend crowd is extremely crowded.

  5. This place gets four stars only because it's tiny.
Otherwise, this place is amazing. I love the variety of foods. Everything is so delicious and incredible. I love that there are so many different food stands!
