Nice place to sit outside and have a yummy brunch. Two of us had the french toast, one a salad. The french toast was exactly how it was on the menu, with chocolate and creme, and light as a feather. This was probably the best french toast I've ever had. Hubbys salad was flavorful and delicious. The mimosas were good except a little on the small side. Hostess and servers were exceptionally friendly and let us happily sit at our table after we had finished our meal. Very nice brunch place, I would certainly return.
Felice 83 is one of the closer restaurants to my apartment, and it's a good local spot. It's perfectly cozy for a snowy Saturday night date, and they also have sidewalk tables for when/if summer comes. The decor is great, they really put a lot of thought into it, and you can tell.
The menu changes based on seasonal ingredients. Last night, I started with the polpettine (mini meatballs) in tomato sauce. The flavor of the meatball was pretty good, though they were missing the crunchy crust that you look for in a meatball. The tomato sauce was not complex enough. It was missing the level of flavor, texture and umami that I come to expect in New York restaurants. My mom's tomato sauce is so much better, and she's not even Italian.
I did like the spinach ravioli with butter sauce. The ravioli was cooked a little past al dente, appropriately, and I liked the richness of the sauce. I had a bite of my husband's seafood linguine, and that was pretty good, although the linguine was cooked a little shy of al dente. I wouldn't want that much bite in my pasta, personally.
So Felice 83 is a good spot to have in my back pocket when I need to stay close to the apartment. But in terms of the food, nothing really pops enough to warrant a special trip to this part of Yorkville.
Wonderful ambiance, festive feeling, fantastic service and an amazing customized drink.
My friend and I stopped here for a drink after meeting at another bar – she recommended Felice as a favorite and wanted a place with some energy / people present which this had.
The bartender was very personable, witty – had a great personality and hung my coat when it slipped off my chair. When I told him my likes and that I loved Mezcel, he recommended the Felice Old Fashioned with Mexcel. Mmm fantastic.
Recommend as a place to meet with friends or a date.
This is a really sweet neighborhood spot. The restaurant itself is small and a bit dark. Not much of a waiting area. The service is super friendly without being pushy The food was really tasty. We had:
Burrata – very tasty
Gnocchi with mushrooms – delicious
Salmon – not a fan but my dining companion thought it was okay if a bit dry.
Decaf Cappuccino – very good
Sicilian Wine – delicious
I agree with other reviewers that this would be a great first date restaurant. The bathrooms were very clean.
What I found appealing about this restaurant was the warm cozy ambience and the candle light appearance. They also have a wine bar that is separated from the dining room with a well thought out selection of vino's which can be paired with Italian small plates. For dinner we ordered the Polpettine as an appetizer which was veal meatballs in a red sauce. Then we shared two entrees; the Amatriciana Pasta and the Chicken Milanese which were all good.
Pretty good spot! Came here around 9pm on a Friday night with no reservation. Tasty wine, got the meatball appetizer which was actually a large appetizer! Usually it's one or two meatballs and there were at least 10. My boyfriend got a pasta dish, I got the risotto. Both really
Good options. Cute spot, not noisy- good place to go on for dates.
Went to Felice for dinner with a friend earlier this week and had a very nice experience. The service was fantastic–several people tended to us and each was attentive and friendly. We started with a ricotta crostini and the rice balls, both of which were yummy. I had the linguine fruitti di mare and everything was fresh and tasty. I almost wish the seafood was in the shells but actually didn't mind not having to do the work. Will definitely return.
Wow, what terrible service and ridiculous prices. A glass of cabernet for $18? I get that it's a wine bar, but I could have bought a whole bottle of better wine for that price. $17 for a tiny salad? No thanks.
I came here with a large group for a family get together around 5 pm on a Saturday. It was pretty empty when we got there, but that's what I expected at 5 pm. The decor of the place was lots of fun and bumped my rating of the place up one star. They had bottles of wine on shelves all over the place, cause I guess they wanted to make sure we wouldn't mistake the place for a place that doesn't serve wine. The seating and lighting was very charming and the atmosphere was definitely welcoming. Unfortunately the staff there was not.
I gawked at the prices and decided to share a salad with a relative (5 pm is not dinnertime to me). The waiter gave us a rather disdainful look when we ordered and told us quite rudely that we wouldn't be full. Later, when I asked for some more bread for the table, he acknowledged my request and then outright ignored it. I had to ask a different waiter for bread a while later. The final insult was when they took away everyone's plates without even asking if we were done. That's not how a restaurant should be treating its patrons.
The only reason this place doesn't get one star is because the food was pretty good and they mixed my Old Fashioned very well. The cocktail prices are standard New York prices, so I didn't regret my decision to get one.
New York has amazing food for a lot less. Why spend an extra $30 on a meal I'll forget and unsavory waitstaff?
