My family and I celebrated my godson's 1st Birthday here. The party was held in their upstairs private room. The room is very spacious and easily fit our 9 tables with more than enough "elbow room". The dance floor and mini stage splits the room with tables on both sides. The dance floor came in handy for the kids to dance and the stage was useful for the entertainers to set up their things.
The staff at Matteo's are so nice! I went early to help my sister in law decorate and they were more than willing to assist us with the table decorations and balloons. Anything we needed.
Food was family style. Started off with a salad, 3 different appetizers (baked clams, stuffed mushrooms and fried calamari), a pasta, and 3 main dishes (Chicken Matteo's, Veal Marsala, and Matteo's signature Shrimp Luciano over sauteed spinach). The food was good but I have had better. The salad was soggy and the shrimp felt over cooked. The Chicken Matteo's was my favorite out of all of them….Chicken on the bone with sauteed peppers, onions, broccoli, sausage, potatoes and garlic. The only feedback I would give is not to serve it on the bone. It makes it difficult to eat. I got a wing piece and I did not feel it was appropriate to eat with my hands. Eating a chicken wing with a fork and knife is an acquired skill I have not yet mastered. The flavor on the chicken reminded me of my grandma's oven roasted herb chicken.
With the package my in laws selected, we had red and white wine on the table, soda and beer. Every time a bottle finished on our table, they immediately brought over a new bottle. My husband was drinking beer and each time he asked for another within seconds he had another cold beer. The staff was super attentive and extremely polite.
I am a dessert lover! Matteo's hand whipped Napoleon cake was out of this world!!! The cream was super light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. You can taste it was fresh and home made. The pastry was super crispy and flaky. I tried to get another piece because I LOVED it so much but they ran out. The wait staff came around with cappuccinos, cafe americano and espresso (single shot or double shots).
Matteo's helped make my godson's birthday party a huge success. We all had a great time. I would come back for dinner and their restaurant at give their food another chance because their staff and desserts were on point! Valet parking is an added bonus. Thank you Matteo's!
IMHO this is a so so Italian restaurant. I have been to the restaurant twice but have had take out/catering from here on more than several occasions and I have to say, not overly impressed. The tomato sauce is acidy and the food is your typical "pizzeria" italian food. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
Soooo good! The meatballs and spaghetti so good! But the shrimp and spinach is GREAT !!
Came here with a group of about twenty for a birthday and boy did we leave 15 pounds heavier.
We were not able to sit until most of our party arrived which always annoyed me but whatever. We enjoyed chatting it up with a group of about ten of us by the bar until I guess they noticed that it was getting kind of crammed and sat us down. Once seated, the waiter took our drink orders and served us warm bread with butter.
And then, the fold began to come out and boy were we all salivating! The baked clams were absolutely delicious. The sliced tomatoes with mozz was super fresh but there were more tomatoes than mozz, what's up with that Matteo's?! The pasta dishes were all very scrumptious although the penne alla vodka could've been cooked a tad bit longer. Stuffed shrimp is a must people!
Place was quite packed, so I would suggest making reservations ahead of time.
Will definitely be returning!
Came here for a Baby Shower and sat in the private room upstairs. A very nice space for anyone looking to have an intimate affair.
The service was really great. The food is served family style but the waiters served each guest a portion and then left the giant plate in the center for anyone who wanted more. And if we wanted more than that, they happily provided.
We also had unlimited red and white wine, plus soda and water as well.
We were served a salad with a vinaigrette dressing. Very heavy on the onion but was good. Then two of my favorites came out, the Fried Zucchini and the tomato, Basil and Mozzarella. I helped my self to more than a few servings. They were by far the best of the bunch.
I also tasted the pasta. It was perfectly cooked.
The chicken parm, eggplant rollatini, and the sausage/chicken and pepper combo missed their mark. Whether it lacked texture and was mushy tasting, or was bland or just overall, nothing special- I was happier with the zucchini and mozzarella appetizers.
The Napolean Cake, which i am not sure was done in house was also lack luster. Prefer Napoleans on a smaller scale with a more crispy, flaky pastry.
Overall, this place is good for venues. I thought the customer service was really great and would definitely need a follow-up in the dining room downstairs to try out some other Italian specialties.
Tonight my boyfriend and I decided to stay local and had dinner at Matteo's.
My ketel one martini was made exactly as I asked.
We had the calamari and clams as appetizers, both were generous portions and both were delicious.
For dinner I had the grilled shrimp over vegetables. My boyfriend had the pasta with meatballs. Everything was great.
Desert was cappuccinos and Italian cheese cake. The cheese cake had a nice lemon zest and was made perfect.
All in all a very nice dinner.
