  1. Super nice atmosphere and decor. Really liked the low lights and the whole open space.
It is near my home and I was looking forward to try it, since everytime I pass by the restaurant it was packed of people and the food seemed very yummy.
However, food wasn't as good as expected. So I would really give them 2 stars for food.
Guac&chips were good but too simply to its price
    Corn was good and tasty.
Quesadillas: had a very strange taste that none of the 4 of us liked. Both the quesadillas dough and the fill weren't good.
Tacos: ordered pescado, al pastor, suadero and lengua. Pescado was the beat among the others, but all of them were so so. The main problem was that the taco dough was really bad taste so ruined the fill.
Queso fundido with green chorizo: the cheese was good but again, the dough of the taco was very bad. Instead, we ate chips with the melted cheese.
Service was really excellent so that is why I give a final 3 stars for this place.
    I don't think I will go back

  2. I made a reservation for 8:45PM…and I got seated at 9;20PM….35 minutes later. The restaurant kept saying how parties were staying longer than usual, which I get happens all the time, but 35 minute wait? What is the point of making a reservation then? If I had known I was going to wait 35 minutes with a reservation, I would have gone somewhere else then. I ended up leaving the restaurant close to 11PM, and my parents were extremely tired by the time we left.

Thankfully, the manager(?) gave us his apologies and gave us an order of guacamole on the house. it looked like we weren't the only party who was affected by this, so I don't know what was going on with the service here.

Overall, the food is really good here..a pitcher of margarita is $60~ (depending on which flavor you get). It's HUGE, so definitely get it with a party of 4+. The tacos were pretty good (2 small tacos for $8). The staff was friendly.

Interior wise – this is a good place to have a small gathering/birthday party..IF you get seated on time.

Would I come back? Hm……….only if I was in the area because it looked like you're going to have to wait regardless if you make a reservation or not. Everything's just up in the air!

  3. This place gets full toward the evening but they have so many tables so you are barely waiting. It does take longer to sit if you are interested in outside sitting. I've been to Mexico a couple times so when I came in here and saw the tiles and decorations, I felt like I was right back in there. The chips are all you can eat so it's a great choice as an appetizer. I ordered tacos and sadly you can't choose different meats for each taco. Otherwise, the food is outstanding. Service is quick and attentive. Deff worth going again.

  4. Love the ambience here! The lights, the crowd, the atmosphere – makes me feel like I'm on vacation. My friends and I were lucked out and got a table for three the second we walked in. I called to make reservations but they don't take for 7pm so we thought we'd have to wait long especially since there were so many ppl waiting to get seated and a lot of people inside already.

My friends and I got the Al Pastor and Pescada tacos and hands down the Al Pastor was the better one. I loved the sauce that came with it, something I'd get again. We also got guac and chips for appetizer but it wasn't anything special. The guac was way too little for the amount of chips they gave. We got an entree called Ascada? The steak dish that's all the way at the bottom of the menu. It was $24 and since we saw a lot of pictures of it on Yelp we decided to get it. In my opinion though, it was really not worth it. Five pieces of meat and a whole bunch of onions and scallions. We finished it in less than a minute, a piece each. It wasn't anything crazy either. If you're a meat fan then this would be a great dish for you. Afterwards, we got the churros with hot chocolate for dessert. The churros were so crispy and hot, complemented with the hot chocolate. This is definitely a must get.

All in all I would definitely come back only for the tacos and churros if I'm feeling it that day. We asked for corn on the cob but the waitress said they only have it when it's in season so hopefully the next time I go I can try it with the amazing tacos and dessert!

  5. Solid Mexican food with friendly staff and airy decor. We came for brunch and were so impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Everyone seemed to have a smile on their face no matter what their task. The open tortilla making kitchen in the center of the space is a nice touch. If you can't get table seating, grab a seat at that bar rather than at the drinks bar. Much more interesting and unusual visual display.

Tacos al pastor and the fried cod tacos were both great. The Mexican pickles were flavorful, but spicy. Guacamole was not bad, but would ask for more spicy if I were to order again. It was pretty mild.

Extensive draft beer and cocktail selection.

Haven't been that impressed with Mexican generally in NYC, but that seems to be changing in a big way. Rosie's is a very nice addition.

  6. Last weekend I had a Theme Saturday… around the word Rose… ( we had a beer at the Redhead bar in East Village, we had La Rose cocktail at Excuse my French, another one at Sel Rrose and we had also a drink at Rosie's) – I was with my 2 roommates and the restaurant was on our way to LES so we decided to stop by to have a drink outside. From the outside it doesn't look like a super cool bar but inside it is in fact really nice. I really like the open kitchen and the best was when they open all the big windows from the streets. The Menu was interesting . We had the guacamole . I really liked it but my roommates thought it was to spicy. The tortillas were the ones that I like and that you can find in other places like Jolie Cantina in Brooklyn. We had the Blueberries mojito and one of us had the ice tea (unsweetened). Cocktails was good. In the beginning I did not liked it because you could taste the strong smoked mezcal but once the ice melted the drink was very refreshing. Maybe they can work on the balance of the ingredients. I order their new Peach Salad. The Salad itself was pretty original ( not too easy to eat though because greens beans were not really cooked so I was spreading some juice everywhere) but the Sauce was excellent!!!  I would recommend the salad for 1- people on diet 2- people who are not too hungry 3- as a starter.
For me it was the good portion. To finish my review, I would like to say that the waiter was very nice and funny ( appreciate that they didn't charge us for the refill of the chips like some places do) and What I also like was the fake tattoos that they give away…I will come back for sure to try their dish called Asada Oaxaquena… The people at the table next to us were eating it and it looked so good. To bad that I was the only one hungry !

  7. Great spot for some Mexican drinks and small plates! I came here with some family on a Saturday night (Definitely make a reservation or else you will wait). Great atmosphere and experience! The staff are all super friendly and they also have people making fresh tortillas in the middle of the restaurant! Very cool to watch.

As for the food & drink, I really loved the watermelon margarita! We also split a pitcher of regular margaritas. It's $55 for the pitchers and served about three glasses for three people each. We started with chips and Guac, so yummy! For my entrée, I got pescado tacos. Very simple, but full of flavor. Crispy fish, with a sweet cabbage slaw and a spicy mayo on fresh tortillas, so YUM!

The food is relatively cheap. Only $8 for the tacos. Such a great spot to grab dinner with friends or family. My only issue was that there is no air conditioning, so it is pretty warm in there for a hot NYC summer night.

  8. I'm a big fan of any Mexican place that make's their own taco wraps and chips.
Rosie's always has a lovely ambiance. The space is nice and big with lots of light from the wall to wall windows. The prep area in the middle is nice because you can see the staff making all the shells.
I had their ceviche app which was very tasty. It was a bit heavy on the onion side but you can just remove them because they are large and easy to move out of the way. The app only came with 4 chips though which definitely was not enough.
Over all the taste was really refreshing and i love anything with avocados.
I tried their pork tacos which was amazing. It was so delicious, I was just sad that there were only 2 in one order. My friend ordered the beef tongue tacos. I tried the beef tongue and I think I'm just not a fan of beef tongue.
For dessert I tried their fresh made churros with chocolate dipping sauce. The sauce was delicious chocolate but the churros weren't as good as I thought they were going to be. For some reason i didn't think the churro was that tasty. I would try something different for sure next time.
The waitress was very attentive and responsive.
