Five Tacos

“Bout 5-6 different sauces ( tequilla chipotle mayo, spicy coconut masala, etc) to squeeze on them makes for one helluva bite.”

“I discovered this taco joint back in October after being displaced from Hurricane Sandy.”

“As a vegetarian, the filling of their veggie tacos ($3.67) here is much more flavorful than the earthy flavor of Ottos.”

  1. Came in here spontaneously to satisfy our Thirsty Thursday drunchies.

What a great find. We got two quesadillas and a burrito. And when we got home to eat it, there was even an extra taco in there. Oh hey, free taco 🙂

The burrito was surprisingly scrumptious. Like exploding with really fresh and clean veggies, corn, black bean and so on. A nice balance of chicken, rice, veggies and sauce. Meat was flavorful and well-cooked. Like I'm genuinely impressed.

The chorizo quesadilla was cheesy, spciy and satisfying. Actually, all of the food had a serious kick to it, especially when you start pouring the hot sauces on it. Like I had to lather on the very thick and luscious chipotle mayo to cool off my mouth.

And Katie really enjoyed her quesadilla, insisted the taco was her and ate it voraciously, then proceeded to steal bites of my chorizo quesadilla. Silly girl. Ha ha. She hasn't stopped talking about how good the place was since.

We will be back Five Tacos. Thanks for serving up late-night greatness.

  2. A touch pricey for $4 per taco. I ordered a ground beef and pulled pork taco.

The came with chewy and sweet tortillas, not far from Taco Bell soft tortillas. They were covered with a blend of yellow and white shredded cheddar that I would expect to buy from the supermarket instead of a familiar crumbly Mexican white cheese.

The ground beef was really salty and a bit bland. The pulled pork was actually extremely tender and juicy. For a plus, the fresh salsa helped brighten up those tacos. The chipotle mayo was ended up salty and much like fatty jarred mayo.

For that price I recommend Empellon Al Pastor or Taqueria Diana.

  3. I came here to try the five spice ground beef taco since this is what I was curious about.

The taco was a regular sized taco in a white flour tortilla, filled with ground beef, shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes, corn kernels and some cubes of jicama. It was tasty and savory, the beef definitely had flavor.

I liked it very much and would come back for more…and to try other types of tacos. I also want to try the guacamole and chips.

This place is the size of a room with a counter space for ordering. You can see them chopping the ingredients and making the tacos. It is a little bit off the beaten path since it's closer to Ave A than First Ave.

  4. Oh wow this place is so so good. I don't have much to say about it other than its just great. I've had the veggie tacos and veggie quesadilla and they're both so good and so filling. They also have a few unique sauces to put on your food if you feel so inclined.

The staff working here are all very nice and efficient. The space is a bit tight, not great for more than four people at a time. I want Five Tacos everyday…

  5. How in the hell does this place have such a high rating?  Either the food was consumed while completely annihilated or these reviews were written also while intoxicated.  The wait time was long, the food was mediocre and the staff that handled all the cash also made all the food without washing his hands.  Also, all of the hot sauce bottles were empty.

  6. I really struggled between giving this place 3 stars or 4 stars because I  really liked one of my tacos but I didn't care for the other. Being that I see the potential in this place and it is way better than Chipotle or anything like that I went with 4. This place is really cute and has a very authentic vibe. They play good music and there is one large picnic style table and bar stools to eat at. I ordered the pork taco and the chicken taco. I will first say that I love the fact that they load the tacos. Cheese, beans, guac, tomatoes etc. I love a good loaded taco! The pork was really good but I was not too crazy about the chicken at all. I found the chicken to be pretty bland. I would definitely come back here and try some of the other things on the menu I just wouldn't order the chicken again.

  7. The tacos were OK. Actually, one makes for a really good snack.

    Opened late, fast service, cheap.

Nothing fancy, but gave me fuel for some beer tasting in the area!

  8. I know I'm not a taco.

If I were a taco and I heard you say,
    "You're not worth $4," I think I'd die
by flapping my tortilla wings and jump
into the Pacman mouth of a white rat.

This white rat would laugh at you.
    Hahahahahahah! Like that.

When I was a baby eating squash
puree, my mom said I smiled and swallowed.
I did not smile eating the veggie taco
with all the sugared up butternut.

At least the Five Taco government
gave us a clean marble table
and stopped hunger with an $8 uppercut.
    Hahahahahahah!
